Madelaine Rowley Maas showed so many paterns between tog and acotar I really hope for some originality in this series. Even in this book she is showing signs of these paterns already but she might still surprise us.

I REALLY hope that Hunt is the end all be all. I can understand how Hunt can come off as "bland" but I like him. Idk, he's a cool guy to me. I feel like his backstory is good and Maas can do something with that in the next book.

Idk why but I somehow end up liking the side characters more than the main characters,, like ruhn,, therion,,, hypaxia,,, fury,,, *chef's kiss* what really let me down was the fact that bryce was the starborn Fae,, I wouldve really enjoyed the dynamic of her being an average half fae/ human and overcoming her obstacles using her wits and physical prowess without some other worldly power

when you get nervous about not being able to remember their names but they all die soon after so it doesn't matter. I liked the book more than some of SJM's other books because I saw it as being more focused on the familial love between Bryce and Danika; yes there's Bryce and Hunt but she got through certain important events because she loved her best friend who was quite literally her ride or die best friend.

*grabs popcorn" I enjoyed the hell out of this tropey goodness buuut when Chandler is roasting a book I AM HERE FOR IT

inabookshell knowing Maas she will find a even hunkier guy later on she kinda has a pattern but I hope she will surprise this time. And if we count chaol as the first real love intrest cuss it was the first she was in a relationship with than she has had a pattern in making the first love intrest a hated character ( tho chaol kinda came around but so did Lucien kinda ish) I really do hope she will surprise me. Otherwise she will just be too predictable. It might be the devil guy but it would be a pretty predictable move. Idk maybe I’m just looking into it to much.

Okay for the record I would absolutely be down for Aidas “demon daddy” being the future love interest bc I love him for absolutely no reason. But SJM always has one love interest in the beginning and then the end game later on 😪 so I doubt Hunt is the end all be all

GOD YES . I've never once read a SJM video but I have watched every single vlog for this book I can find for some reason. Excited to see what you end up thinking, most people I watch have all given it above a 3. I really have enjoyed your videos lately because now I look at a book, even if it's 300 pages and say well I can finish this today easily in like 4 hours. I really love how you're able to push through so many books so quickly. Now when I try to finish a book in a short period of time I think of it in hours it'd take and I think I've gotten faster (mainly more focused). But all the same I appreciate how your videos seemed to help me in realizing that.

I loved Ruhn and yeah, I also got that vibe that maybe they were gonna pull a Cassandra Clare (so glad they didn’t) only cause Hunt mentioned that the Fae like to keep their bloodlines pure and in the family. I love that Bryce and Ruhn love each other.... but that comment by Hunt really F-ed me up for a while.

i listened to this and i think that made the experience better than it would have been had i read it. i enjoyed it but i had so many questions the entire time. and trying to figure out the multiple different fantasy elements was a frickin ride. here for the demon daddy possibility & thoroughly hoping that relationship evolves in the next book.

Why did I watch this video??? 😂😂😂 I was preparing myself to read this book because I know how Sarah J Maas shenanigans sometimes are exhausting but you made me put my read on this book on hold 🥴 I’m not prepared.

OMG you are hilarious. If my teachers would have given synopsis like this I would have read more.

I walked away from this book thinking it was less of a romance and more of a love letter to friendship. Prob Bc the romance was boring AF & bad. Was 80% of the book painfully boring? Yes. Was the world unnecessarily complex & info-dumpy? Helllls yes. Did I like the characters? Not really. BUT I enjoyed the end. From the big bad battle & first tragic death through to the end. I read that part twice. Really liked it. Beautiful, messy ode to friendship as family, IMO. Was it worth struggling through everything else? Meh. I could’ve taken 1/4-1/3 of the info included & the read the end & had a better experience. But maybe SJM will create an epic world in this series? That would be great.

To be fair, it took me possibly 100 pages to get properly invested in the book. I don't know if that is a positive or negative given how many books she's already published, but I loved her other series too so I was always going to try to get through it. People who haven't read her other books and going in blind...not so much. But glad I finished, I enjoyed it in the end.

I could not make myself like the main character so there was no way I could love the book. The most beautiful, powerful, sassy and masterful (fights with swords without practice and is a gun master AT THE SAME TIME. Like seriously. One in each hand) woman in the world. Thinking about it even now is upsetting me. I do agree about Rune. For some reason I cared more about him. And the entire book was either predictable or so left field that it didn’t make sense

Also am I the only one who was confused about the very last chapter with the demon and Bryce’s boss?? Bc I still don’t understand it

Basically when reading the back cover I thought Hunter was a girl and thought it was going to be a female-female main relationship... and when I heard it wasn't... not interested honestly. Especially after hearing reviews of it, I realize it's not quite for me.

I love Sarah J Maas but this book was boring, and predictable. The end was like her other books: MC is hiding a really powerful power from everyone in the world, oh no! But wait - in the end she has to reveal it to save the world!! Ahahahah!! So dramatic.

I did really enjoy this book but can totally see all of your opinions... also if this turns out to be a hades/Persephone retelling with demon daddy I would die happy because I also would choose demon daddy over hunt

I got a lot of ToG vibes from the book. ToG starts off with an assassin trying to get her freedom and ends with a war and a queen fighting for her throne, I feel like CC will be similar. Seeing how there are a lot of inspiration from Greek mythology (River Styx, the underworld, horn of cornucopia) i wouldn't be surprised if the was a Hades and Persephone retelling and Bryce ends up with demon daddy. But SJM already did a hades and persephone retelling with acomaf, and i don't know how i feel about that.

I am so happy more and more popular reviewers are feeling the same way I did while reading this book. What a chore! At least it's over and you can move on to something else now lol

I enjoyed this as an urban fantasy, Bryce, her friends, her chimera, liked the mystery aspect, and world that Maas built. ACOTAR/ACOMAF are still my favorites. Did not like Hunt.

Danika had the Horn ground up and tattooed on Bryce. So no Bryce didn't consume the horn. What she consumed was the Synth. A drug that kinda fixed the "Horn" in other words activating it.

If you need a good pallet cleanser after this book I suggest : The right swipe by Alisha Rai. It's a kind of hate to love romance but the characters are good and the book is steamy. I suggest listening to the audio book cause they have a guy read for the main male character and his voice is 👌🔥🔥
