    I wish they had the 4 way phone call because that scene showed how they were all fake with each other. The movie just shows Regina being mean to them. I know people don’t have phone calls like that nowadays but I wish they came up with a different scenario that showed that fakeness of the group.

    That's a normal complaint in the stage show as well - they sanded down the edges so the Mean Girls are not so specifically "Mean" anymore and that carried to the movie remake.

    As a bisexual woman who greatly prefers women over men, I sometimes wish I could just identify as a lesbian, but I still have an annoying (lol) attraction to some men, so I don’t feel like it would be truthful to call myself a lesbian. But I agree definitely don’t see it as loss when someone who previously indentified as bi now identify as lesbian (I kind of envy them for that bc it makes thing less complicated for that person). I would only feel like it was a loss if a woman I was attracted to went from identifying as bi to identifying as straight 😭

    The "Reginald" line is from the stage musical and is so iconic that I have to keep reminding myself it is not in the 2004 movie. I was a little sad they didn't include the Gretchen stage line "Sometimes I feel like am Iphone without a case" (something about having a lot of functions but could break at any moment). Good line and very good for explaining her.

    Hopefully the movie will make more people interested in the musical. The stage show actually makes comedy of theatrical tropes; At one point Karen and Gretchen are on Cady's bed which is a set on a mechanical platform. At the end of the scene as they are sliding away, a drunk Karen pops up "IS THIS ROOM MOVING?"

    I actually loved both movies, Renee Rapp is amazing. However, Rachel McAdam's Regina was mean mean, and I thought she deserved what she got. Renee's Regina, seemed more "repressed." I thought she deserved to get hated on and knocked down a few pegs. However, I felt like the methods Cady, Janis, and Damian used made them become the bad guys. Particularly screwing with her actual weight when they removed the rest of the dialogue about weight from the movie, and it was a really big deal when Renee played the role on Broadway and has talked about it a lot.

    I agree with Garrick on this one. I think its worth a watch but I don't think this is a pleasure. It borrows from both the movie and the musical but isn't as good as either. The music I think was changed mostly for the worst. Cady's actor didn't have the range required for her part nor did Karen's, though with the changes made to Karen's song this wasn't as obvious. It only manages to be better than Mean Girls 2, which was awful and I think in general has been forgotten about, for good reason. The acting also felt subpar to me and over done very geared towards children. But I think the acting makes sense if they were to have gone the streaming route. That being said Damien and Janice were the best on both fronts and were the stars, to me, of this movie. I also enjoyed Renee's vocal performance but I didn't care for this rendition of Regina and felt the broadway version was better and meaner while still not being a direct copy of Rachel McAdams Regina. The outfits were not it either but again I still think having watched the movie and musical I still think its a fun play it in the background movie. Had I not seen either I think it would be a straight Guilty movie.

  • @a_o011

    @a_o011

    I understand what you're saying. But a movie about the popular group being the IT girls and the hot guy is the whole premise of the movie. That BECAUSE they are hot they can get away with being mean. Pretty girl privilege is the who point. As for other movies, whether we like it or not as a society subconsciously who we deem attractive correlates to their success. It makes total sense to ask because that can make or break a movie if the actors are deemed successful especially unknown actors who are only in posters and not trailers. You don't have to say someone is ugly, but saying "I'm not attracted yo x person, or I don't find y attractive" isn't a bad thing. That why preferences and tastes exist, if not everyone would look the same.

  • @arualstarr

    What I really hated was that they made it “woke”. Like usually idgaf when tv shows/movies are “woke”. But they cut out all the most iconique jokes because they would be considered inappropriate now. Like bffr no ones gonna get offended by them saying social suicide because they know what it means. And if they do they just don’t get it or are just way too sensitive for their own good. Like Olivia Rodrigo referenced it in one of her songs and no one batted an eye so it’s really not that big a deal.

    I’m sorry, but I really hated the new mean girls movie. I appreciated Lindsay Lohan in the film and all the cameos. I also appreciated all the one liners that we know and love from the OG mean girls, and I thoroughly enjoyed Renee Rapp performance, other than that I hated the movie.

    Love y'all so much, but I can't go without making a couple of corrections. The first one is that Renée Rapp went to an arts high school in Charlotte, and not a musical theater high school in New York. The second correction is more general, and that is that gen z and millennials have way more in common than y'all think. The original Mean Girls movie is just as iconic to us as it is to y'all. We can quote it front to back, left to right, just like most millennials can. I think that pretending millennials and gen z are so different is causing a weird cultural divide that is super unnecessary and ultimately pretty harmful. Sure, there are some big cultural differences between the two generations, but some people like to act like we're completely different species, which feels so toxic.

    I understand what you're saying. But it's not that deep. As a matter of fact most of us who vibe with millennials has a lot to do with the fact that we have older siblings who are in that range or had a friend who's brother or sister were in that range. I have seen gen zs who don't have an older millennial in their life and vise versa, there is a difference. Tbh I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out the differences. They become a part of self reflection for both generations.

    @rmp1188 it definitely is but she also doubled down on it in a weird way. Honestly I think it's silly that some people were so upset about it but I do think it's one of those things she's gonna feel dumb about saying when she hits 30 herself

    I advice that you guys look up “slime tutorials” to the mean girls musicals to understand it better and just to watch it because trust me the stage musical is way better
