    Was the music just so much more incredibly louder than everything else? Idk if it was the sound design of the movie or a problem of the theater I was at. But we could barely make out the talking that would happen when the music was playing, and the music was SO loud. It was sooo distracting and off-putting tbh.

    I don’t know if y’all noticed this, or if it was even done intentionally, but when Tashi goes to meet Patrick before the New Rochelle Challenger and they hook up she puts on a big white t-shirt, which looks a lot like the shirt she threw on after her fight/break up with Patrick. And if I remember correctly that shirt is originally Patrick’s. I think they both kept each other’s shirts for like 13 years or however long it’s been. To me that felt so significant and feel like I haven’t seen anyone talk about it.

    yup and i also havent seen anyone say this! in their haste to get dressed during their fight in tashi's dorm room they switch the shirts they began the scene with. people point out patrick wearing tashi's i told ya shirt when he comes to watch them in atlanta, but i havent seen anyone mention her still having his!! i guess we dont KNOW that its his but since everything is so intentionally chosen by the costume department, i had no choice but to interpret that way as well.

    @@sarahmcdonough7713 yeah, we don’t know for sure it’s his shirt but because Tashi changes shirts before going to meet Patrick, I feel like it has to be his shirt that she’s held on to. There’s no real reason for her to change shirts other than it to be a nod to the audience that she also kept something from that time in their life.

    As someone from the country the brand comes from, seeing you spell Loewe like that, kinda hurts. Put some respect on the name, Maggie's Cousin's Ex-Wife wears it a lot. (There's a Spanish singer named David Bustamante, and how he's the other only person apart from Maggie I know with that name, I joke about them being related. And he was married to an actress for like a decade, who I think did Loewe ads at some point.)

    it’s just crazy bc this movie has two actors that i’ve been following since my childhood and adolescence-zendaya, since shake it up, and mike faist, since he was on broadway with newsies. my mind is blown that we even HAVE a film with a cast like this that i thought could only ever exist in my mind.

  • @marijuju59
    @marijuju592 ай бұрын

    Not to have a “um actually 🤓☝🏻” moment but the casting was fully thought of way in advance and no one else was considered (not Jacob, Dominic Fike, & whoever else) which was just a rumor that spread online. I wish I could remember which interview I read it from but Zendaya said that she actually had watched The Crown & was like “Yo this guy is so good he would be perfect” and Luca had him in mind as well in a weird coincidence. Not too sure about how Mike was casted but I think Luca also had watched his projects & thought he’d be perfect for Art. I kinda hate that the internet ran with the “omg Jacob Elordi, Austin Butler, etc. were considered??” story bc the whole production of the movie was super meticulously planned way ahead and the only big name brought in was Zendaya. (Trying to keep this short is impossible lol) but also, Zendaya was the very first person to be reached out for the Tashi role & she actually selected (I’m pretty sure) Luca to direct as well. So overall, she was a producer through and through and helped bring this to life (along with everyone else ofc).

    I loved this movie, but, as someone who doesn’t really watch sports, I couldn’t understand about how good of a “sports movie” it was. However, Garrick bringing up Kobe and Michael Jordan’s stories really made me understand the characters motivations and the plot even more in the context of competitive sports. It made me appreciate the movie even more!

    13:30 As much as I love Zendaya and challengers is absolutely my favorite movie this year, box office isn’t looking that great for this movie. On a $55m budget, it’s only barely made half of its budget with its second weekend. It had a respectable 49% drop from opening weekend though and I’m sure it’ll still at least cover its budget by the time it leaves theaters. But that’s not going to make noise in the industry. Definitely has made some noise on social media though.

    12 mins in and NO ONE (not even Kelsey) has talked about how QUEER this movie is. And not queer as in sexual identities but queer as in longing and sexual tension. How much LONGING there is in the movie, for friendship, for tennis, for romantic attraction...!!!

    Do none of you people understand the concept of "homoerotic tension"? Heterosexual platonic friends can still feel confusing ways about eachother with out being romanticly in love, or be attracted to eachother with out being gay. Does anyone else remember the word "gar"? I think we need to bring that back.

    Not gonna lie- I wasn't a fan of the movie. The actors did a great job and the soundtrack was awesome, but I felt like it beat you over the head with "this movie is about TENNIS did you see it? TENNIS don't forget it's a TENNIS movie". Love Zendaya and I'll see anything she's in. I liked the flashbacks when they were teens/in college. Would've loved to see more of that.

    I feel like I'm the only one who didnt like this movie, and i was so excited! Dare i say, too much tennis? Haha & idk if it was the movies sound design or a fault of the theater i was at but the music was SO much louder than everything else, you could barely make out any words that were being said.
