The hot couch guy house when I was in first year were some friends of friends who lived in a shitty town house in the run down part of town. The four dudes who lived there all worked at the same Taco Bell full time and were all like 24. I drank with them a few times and it always ended with someone vomiting in the bushes next to the house or else the cops showing up. This was before HDTVs so they had this one massive rear projection TV that they all chipped in and bought on sale because none of them could ever afford it alone. There was this super dodgy stoner guy named Rodent who lived on their couch and never paid rent. One day, they all came home after work, there was a big crack in the TV screen and Rodent had a big band-aid on his head and no one ever actually found out what happened. It was a strange place.

Scenes from a Canadian Prairie hot couch: An unfinished basement with wood paneled walls. A beanbag chair, perpetually leaking, despite several duct tape patches. An electric guitar, coated in dust, with one broken string and severely out of tune, which the owner has been "learning to shred" on, and "wants to start a band", yet the guitar hasn't moved in 3 years. A bag of sunflower seeds being passed around indoors. The victory screen for Mario Kart 64 "Battle Mode" running in the background on a shitty CRT TV. A 24-pack of Pilsner beside the couch, from which cans are drank at room temperature, because it's a hassle to load the beer into the fridge.

I've had multiple hot couch guys in my life but probably the wildest was the one who lived in a metal garden shed. There was surprisingly a lot of space inside that thing. He later upgraded to an unfinished garage, then the final form was us renting a ghetto apartment together, I actually had that thing decked out really nice for the first year until it devolved into full on hot couch status. My hot couch guy story is the somewhat hazy memory of being day drunk at these guys house who had a chinchilla. Which was like cowering in the corner of its cage as these guys blasted Dave Matthew’s Band. And when I told them I didn’t really know the songs that well the one guy started singing along and lecturing me about how I needed to “get into them”

never been a cinephile or a partyhouse person but through high school and college i fell asleep to the first 5 minutes of a lot of movies that i never watched the rest of, more often than not on a couch or non-bed piece of furniture.

Ah shit. I moved into a new apartment a few months ago, and it has such a comfortable couch I've fallen asleep on it so much with something like Chapo or Slavoj Zizek playing in the background. And now I hear this. Where am I in my life.

Hot couch guy inevitably reproduces with hot Cheeto girl and you always see them walking together with a stroller and GIANT styrofoam soda cups on their way home from picking up cigarettes at the 7-11.
