"Conservative New York Times columnist Bret Stephens has quit Twitter over bedbugs. Well, kind of.
It came to a head on Monday evening, after Stephens emailed a George Washington University professor and his provost to complain about an unkind joke the professor made on Twitter comparing him to a metaphorical “bedbug.” But about 12 hours later, after the professor posted Stephens’s email to Twitter, Stephens ended up being the one facing consequences."*

The Soviet Invasion of Poland and subsequent occupation was a thoroughly unpleasant affair but to describe it as "no less equally bloody" to the Nazi Invasion and subsequent occupation is an overstatement of Soviet Repression. That said the Soviets still killed a crap ton of people: it's estimated that 150,000 people died and between 350,000-1,000,000 people were forcibly deported. Sure the Soviets were not as bad as the Nazis, but that's not a particularly high bar to clear. Not to mention the Soviets were complicit in the Nazi Invasion of Poland through the Molotov Ribbentrop Pact.

I suggest you look into Viktor Suvorov's work on the actual origins of the war. WWII was started by two genocidal gangsters trying to outplay each other. Stalin outplayed Hitler. Even now both the left and right is somehow forced to defend siding with Stalin's murderous regime during the war. And as far as who the bigger monster is... Ask the hundreds of millions of people murdered by the Cheka NKVD, KGB and FSB. Just read the descriptions of how NKVD walled people alive and threw grenades into cells full of political prisoners during their retreat from Lvov. Socialists should never defend the Gulag monstrosity. Period, Full Stop. They're the ones who end up locked up for trying to better the world, the nazis will always find a way to cut a deal with the bolsheviks for each other's profit. Scum know each other. The soviet red fascists were in power far longer than german brown fascists. Thus the higher body count. The fact that Stalin started the war is basically the consensus opinion among non kgb funded academics in the post soviet world. Unfortunately most of this discussion is in Polish, Russian and Ukrainian so it doesn't filter out much to the west. There's a really nice youtube talk in English by Viktor Suvorov at the us naval academy on the real reasons behind the start of WWII. The past is a hell of a lot weirder than our ideological party lines paint it.

@@mimikyuliker946 your nuance is worthless, as it only serves to split hairs whether Stalin intened for it to happen, or it happened due to the collectivisation, and Stalin used its effects to destroy the anti-soviet ukrainian movement. The VOC foundation is your American boogeyman, it doesn't bear much influence on the scientific consensus outside of America. Stalin's role in Holodomor is accepted by the majority of historians on the post-soviet space (excluding Russia obviously), including Ukraine itself. I swear, until western leftists carry water for the Russian imperialist efforts, any dialog between Eastern European and Western socialists is impossible.
