Sometimes BBQ just doesn't go as expected. I planned on doing a hot and fast ribs video on my Yoder pellet grill, but they just didn't like the fast part!

    For hot and fast pork ribs I like to set my temps to 300f and have a full smoke tube of pellets. The max I go for hot and fast on bbq is 325f. Though I like to smoke my steaks before I sear them. One my best steaks I have made came when I cold smoked it with a pellet tube and no heat other than form the pellet tube and it was under 40 degrees outside when I did that.

    Yeah cold smoke is best for steaks. Normally at 275 I can be done in 3 hours. I’ve never pushed past 300. 🍻

    What temp did you cook at it looks like around in the 250-60 range thats not hot at all i do 275-300 for hot and fast. Thanks for the video

    FYI: The suggested burn time in the SMOKE TUBE before you blow the flame out is 8-9 minutes.

  • @RumandCook

    @RumandCook

    Yeah, I find that to be excessive. Usually a few minutes is fine, but it does depend on what you are lighting it with. The yellow tanks are extra hot on torches so I don’t need the extra time. 🍻

    I used to do the 3-2-1 method, not any more, 6 hours for ribs is way too long. I like to cook at 275 and just go by feel. Have you ever tried the Blues Hog sauces? If you haven't you should give them a try!

    I have the darndest time with Swift products, especially their ribs. I usually avoid them if possible. With that said, the local store only had them last week. They took over 6 hours, but they came out delicious. I tried a more savory rub, like what I use on a brisket and they were fabulous. And I LOVE my big orange sprayer. What kind of knife is that? Good cook - and see we are close to 25K!

    Yeah a little hit and miss. I typically don’t buy ribs from Costco, but was in a pinch. Glad to hear the sprayer is working well. It’s a Wusthof super slicer. Yep 25k is coming in quick! 🍻

    As a new cooker to pellet smoking , Everyone adds sauce but I feel like it masks the rub a lot , is it a bbq sin to not sauce the ribs ? I find there is amazing flavour without the sauce ... Purely asking . Am I missing out if I don't sauce them ?
