Thank you for giving the last right of kindness for those 5 babies, their previous owners should be called out and made accountable. Although i realize you don't know who they are, hope that old saying goes for animals as well as people to treat others the way you want to be treated and whatever goes around comes around.

$500 is the highest price. Maybe $300, $250 or less. $0 for veterans, first responders, etc Mostly the reason for paying is to be sure you are sincere and can afford to care for the animal’s needs.

I think its the most satisfying when the horses that have gone through intake can finally run out to the pasture, and just be horses and nibble on grass. For them its gotta be so wonderful to be away from the stress situations, and have chance to decompress out in the nice country air, with bird song and gentle breezes, or rain. It is unfortunate that some of them need the last act but we know they will no longer suffer.

Having had horses my self I can understand all the emotions in having to make the last act of kindness. I cry with each and everyone. Not because they are being laid at rest but because they suffered so long before being rescued. The love of a horse or donkey or mule is beyond one's understanding they give unconditionally. A true animal owner knows this and their are thousands of caring loving compassionate owners. My Heart goes out to this wonderful organization along with several others that do their utmost best every day.

It’s truly frustrating that the last act of kindness can’t be done by the previous owners....... Sadly 5 lives you saved, only to say goodbye. That could’ve been 5 additional lives saved and adopted to new homes 😢 Owners need to take more accountability for their 4 legged family members. We all know how hard it is, but it’s sometimes necessary 💔

My best horse ever thought all desensitisation stuff was new toys. Bag on a stick was a game. Pool noodles were for biting. I totally understand the quality of life aspect. I lost my dog this past January (2021) due to cancer in her shoulder. She wasn’t very old. We had to put her down because she was in immense pain. It all happened in less than a month. I miss her but we were all there when she passed, loving on her, brought her favorite toys, etc. We were there to comfort her and it’s sad that some owners just ditch and leave their pets and companions in pain.

I really lost it over the little mare who could not breathe. I had a beloved cat who got bone marrow cancer, and on her last day, every breath required her stomach to rise up to nearly her back. She died a few minutes later in my arms. I was grateful she did not have the breathing problem for very long at all, and although it reduced me to tears, I was glad that this little mare was able to rest from her constant burden of taking each labored breath. And as horrified as I was about the donkey with the torn up and bleeding hooves, I'm glad he finally was relieved from what had to be incredible pain. I hope the others on the watch list are able to recover and I hope the once-downed paint recovers. He is a beautiful fella.

Truly so very sorry for the loss of your beloved kitty. I also lost it over that beautiful horse having difficulty with her breathing as I absolutely believe she could have been saved. I had to rush my beloved cat, Jazzi, to her vet d/t severe difficulty in breathing... she was in congestive heart failure... IV Lasix (then daily) & draining the fluid from the plueral lining of her lungs (Thoracentesis) was performed immediately by her vet. We found out the nxt day after blood work that she had hyperthyroidism & started on thyroid med... all these measures saved her... in fact, we eventually took her off lasix & upon me monitoring her & vet appt 1 week later, her heart rhythm & her pulse rate were strong & normal; breath sounds clear... the congestive heart failure was acute... I routinely took her in for thyroid blood work. I did all this for her on a strict budget. I wish the vets here would have done critically thinking & taken all measures to save this beautiful horse... that's the point of a rescue. STAT on all diagnostic blood work, IV Lasix & anti-inflammatory, AND thoracentesis at the time of her exam, & possible antibiotics... and yes, even a daily dose of the above meds & a heart med (if needed). If she needed daily meds short-term or long-term, I know someone would have adopted her... such a crying shame... yet, my love & commitment for animals is not for... profit...🦋

Who had to have the Last Act of Kindness .To run free forever more thru acres of green pastures , where they will always be free from pain and suffering and young again . . It is so awesome that all y'all was once again able to rescue these beautiful babies from being killed by horrible people and forced to go where they should never should have been in the 1st place . These awesome and majestic animals that serve people should never have to endure such horrible circumstanstances . All y'all are Earth Angels . Stay safe and have a Blessed week .

The draft with the tag 1393 on his rump is beautiful 😍 I wouldve love to adopt him. I am currently looking for a rescue horse mostly as a pet because I can't ride anymore due to my health but horses help heal my heart so I've decided to go through the whole process of adopting a horse in need of a home that can't be ridden, like a senior horse or a horse with health issues.

Ended up buying property next to the sanctuary, but it didn't work out and I ended up retiring in southern Florida with my mother instead. I used to do a lot of this myself before I was disabled. It's absolutely disgusting how many people throw away their horses by sending them to kill. Old ponies that likely babysat many young riders over the years, hopefully loved and cherished until it was time for their humans to return the favor and take care of them instead. I've seen so many injured horses still perfectly groomed and in braids from the show ring dumped off in pain. Downed horses suffering being trampled over by other frightened horses in the kill pen. Horses that came from labs that were scared to death or hated humans due to being abused. Stallions that were neglected and/or abused to the point they're dangerously aggressive. I've seen it all. I've known so many people that hear you can pick up horses as the sale barns for less. I always recommend they adopt from a rescue or buy from a private owner because you never know for sure what you're getting at these sales. There are some really nice and healthy horses that get sold there, but there are a lot with issues whether it be medical or behavior. There are sellers who will drug the horse to sedate them or to cover up their pain and you can bring home the perfectly sweet horse that night and have a maniac a day or two later or one that has great conformation in the ring, but can barely walk the next morning. Then there are also the diseases that tend to pop up frequently at these sales like shipping fever/strangles. Whatever you bring home was likely exposed and you could have a very sick horse in a few days and if you have other horses or board with other horses you've now put them at risk too. Anyone who might think a $500 adoption fee is too much shouldn't get a horse! Even double that and it would still be the cheapest part of owning a horse! Just knowing what you're getting from people who want the best home for each horse to be successfully placed in is worth the adoption fee. Rescues want you to love the horse you take home!

I do wish the previous owners would do right by these majestic souls, but sadly, they most likely sold it off for money, with no care or concern afterwards if it ended up in the slaughter pipeline or gone to a good home where they would be cared for. I couldn't do that to any animal. Sadly I've had to have a few of my furbabies sent to the Rainbow Bridge as a last loving kindness for them, and I NEVER left their side. They were loved from beginning to end. They always have a place in my heart and I think of them every day and whisper I love you to them. To see how these babies are is heartbreaking. Thank you Horse Plus for saving these souls, and helping them whichever way you can, even if its that last act of kindness to give them peace and no more pain. Also, Thank you for cremating them and not just discarding them the way their previous owners did. It speaks VOLUMES about your organization and the kind of people you are.

If someone can not afford to pay an adoption fee that low for an amazing horse than maybe they are not ready to own one yet! HORSE PLUS IS AN AMAZING FACILITY!! I wish I lived closer to the rescue bcuz I would be applying for a job asap and if no spots are open than I would happily help out there in anyway.

I can’t even express how thankful I am that there are people out there like your organization that steps in and helps all the horses and other animals. I’ve had horses most my life. I was injured in 1999 and was left a paraplegic. I still rode my horses for at least 10 more yrs. Then it got too difficult to take care of them. I believe that if you have an animal you give it the best that it deserves. I really hated to get rid of my horses but I made sure they went to good people and sent all of their equipment with them. Winter blankets summer blankets fly masks leg wraps their own custom saddles and saddle pads along with a complete list of how to care for them. Stay safe and God Bless

Beautiful paint that was down, it’s going to be interesting to see how he does, very unique marking on his left hip. I hope that donkey with the horrid split hoof enjoyed his grain before the last act of kindness. Just criminal that he was let to get that way. So thankful you make the best decisions for the ones that need to be euthanized.

The last act of kindness is also a success. Think about it this way, the goal is to end the horse's suffering by getting them from the auction and doing everything necessary to end their suffering. Unfortunately, sometimes that means they need the last act. It is sad for us and especially for the rescue team but it is still a success.
