that little girl is going to be a horse hero one day. she is very smart and compassionate
My vet told me 25 years ago when I had to put my first rescue Rottweiler to sleep. It's the last loving thing you can do is to not let them suffer. I know you say it's the last act of kindness. But people don't understand if they're not in the rescue business how it is to be in that situation. So thank you all for everything you do please know it does not go unnoticed. ❤️❤️❤️

My mom told me that when I had to make a choice for my cat, he was 14 years old and was losing weight as well had stopped eating and drinking. My family told that I did an amazing job caring for Snare. Bringing him back from a hurt and scared young cat to him living the life of being a cuddle bug. Keep in mind 14 years old is really old for a cat. Especially one who is an indoor outdoor cat. Even though he was my best friend as well as being my fur baby I knew he was suffering and knew that his time had came to say goodbye. But I know that's he's ok now and is back with his sister who passed away years before, passed away from drinking something deadly for cats, and his step-brother Zephyr, my older sister's cat.

Oh my
I'm sorry about Carter, and such a young horse too💔😥 Tawnee and the entire staff.... Thank You for all you do. Bless all of you ♥️🐎🐈♥️🐕♥️🐄♥️😉♥️💋♥️
Poor Doc.. he’s such a good man.. I have so much respect for him after hearing him say “I don’t want to do this!”… I felt that in my soul..

It brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes to hear and see Doc utter those words. Truly a compassionate man💝
So glad to see people willing to adopt older horses and take care of them in their golden years. And a sad goodbye to Carter. Thank you for giving him every chance and making sure he didn't make that horrible trip to slaughter.
So glad Marvel's adoptor was happy to just give her a loving home. What a class act. Did my heart good.
That cute baby boy kissin' that horse that he rode and they bought for him was just priceless. ❤️❤️❤️
So sad. Shame on the "owners" who let Carter get in that state. Thats totally unacceptable. I will never understand how people can be so cruel. But I'm glad he had your kind hands to help him through the pain.

Not that I disagree with you...but we don't know the situation of the previous owner. Should they have done something different - absolutely! But hopefully, with the work that people like Horse Shelter Heroes are doing, people who don't know what to do with horses they no longer want / handle, those same people will realize that there are options out there to re-home horses to reputable rescues.

imo I feel that the auctions should not allow these horses to be sold, Period...Or they should be fined when they bring them in. No we never know the situation the owners are in and why they don’t do what they should when they can see that they can no longer provide for the horse..or animals that they own.
@Loralie571

@@ellimae1548 It's called supply and demand - I don't like it, but it exists. Auctions just make it easier for purchasers - be it Amish, kill buyer, or rescues to purchase, If they didn't exist, the buyers would just go elsewhere and find some other way to purchase. Nice to see the racing industry is at least admitting they have an issue - it means education is working. Let's hope more individuals, get people like Horse Rescue Hero's message. Every little bit helps...

@@Loralie571 it still dose make it right. Look at the Texas Humane Society...People are prosecuted for not taking care of their animals, same thing should happen at auctions. Supply and Demand? What can you get from a horse that can barley stand? A can of dog food?

@@Loralie571 True, you never know what someone is going through. Or what the whole story is. But to me there's no excuse for starving an animal to death. Especially when there are options like rescue groups that could help. It's just plain neglect. And then leaving them at an auction is just mean.
I just love your farrier if only more farriers were like him. His compassion empathy and understanding is world class. If he ever wants to immigrate to Australia then I have a spare room for him my horses would love him. 💜🤩

So sorry that you lost the Carter. I can imagine him looking stunning if he was in full health. You guys do such an amazing job. At least he was loved and fussed on in his last days xx
Thank you for all that you do. Our daughter is 22 months and every morning has to watch your videos. She does not want to watch cartoons or movies. She says “horseys rescue” everyday and does not want to watch anything but you all.

That's adorable
Nice episode. It's awful to see the young horses have to be put down. I could tell how upset Doc was when he talked about the horses bodies actually eating their organs and the thought of it is very upsetting. When I was 13 years old I brought a 6 month old filly back up after the vet told me there was not a good chance that she could make it but she was a fighter and in spite of all odds, she survived and was the best horse that I could imagine. In 2009 I rescued 2 starving Mustangs that could barely walk. Both of them survived. They were so thin that you could see where the ribs connected to the bone and their front legs had very little space between them. They took 6 months to start looking like horses instead of skeletons, then they really took off and were beautiful. It's so rewarding when you do win the battle. God bless you for what you do.
Carter would have died horribly in some truck on the way to slaughter. Instead he spent his last days surrounded by love and comfort and food. He had all the care you could possibly give him. You guys couldn't have done more. R.I.P Carter. Run free.
That farrier was so kind and gentle with the horses.
Thank you for showing Carter. Rest in green pastures my friend !!
I am so angry that someone neglected poor Carter so badly. It’s criminal that he suffered for so long. Thank god that you guys rescued him and his last few days he was shown love & kindness. The first pony I ever rode was a palomino called Cornflake. Sleep tight sweet Carter, no more suffering now xxxx p.s Doc is the sweetest xxx
I think Marvel got the perfect home. Loved seeing that Wyatt got Star. So sad seeing a youngster suffer so much that he isn't able to survive.
Loved Carter glad he experienced love at the end of his life. He was gorgeous.
That little girl ❤️ she has her heart in the right place ❤️ Her parents must be so proud of her!
Doc, you are an amazing man and vet ❤️ A heart filled with love for animals and the people around you 💝
Doc you are an amazing vet god bless you and the staff tfs😎🐎😎
Awww, the Wyatt family are so lovely! When the little boy kissed Stars nose, I just melted. Sleep peacefully Carter, I’m so pleased you found these incredible people in your last few weeks of life, you were loved. 🙏🏻🌻🌻🌻
It is nice to see that people still want to do what they can to try to save a horse.
I to watch this rescue channel the most.
Rest in Peace Carter , run forever free over the Rainbow Bridge where never- more U will feel pain or suffer . It's awesome that once more , horses found homes but young Carter had to lose his life cos he had a uncaring owner who starved him and than dumped him off at an auction and then left him there .I'm thankful he found all y'all who tried ur best to not only give him the love and help he needed but , cos of all the horrible things this young horse went thru before he found y'all he had to cross the Rainbow Bridge .I think about the person/s who had this beautiful boy before y'all did and I pray that they never have another horse again and if they do that they get caught abusing it and lose them all to Horse Plus .

Has Doc heard of the buttermilk treatment? Just happened to learn of it watching a youtube of 2001 Ky Derby. (Back-from-the-dead horse Invisible Ink; Dr. Robert Copelan's remedy. ) Would be good for people , too. ( without the crust and " flies")
Doc is amazing vet going above and beyond for Carter and any of horses. Thank you for saving and giving the horses another chance . Run Free Carter you are no longer suffering .
Omg I'm so broken hearted about Carter. Thank you for trying so hard to save him. I will never understand how people can be so cruel to animals. 😢
Praying for you all!💜🙏💜
Such a sad situation for Carter. I was really hoping as I’m sure you all were that he would make it. I have to say I have a great deal of admiration for your vet “Doc”. I can tell he is not only a wonderful vet but a very kind hearted human being. I grew up with horses and our veterinarian was a friend of our family and we knew him for 50 years and he continued to practice veterinary medicine until he was 82 years old! I think Doc is going to be one of those type of vets that he will just work as long as he possibly can! You can tell that he loves what he does and he has so much compassion for the animals that he treats. I really admire that about him very much. I love that he teaches all of you as he’s treating and diagnosing each horse. God Bless him and God Bless all of you at Horse Plus! ❤️🐴
LOVE to see people coming in to adopt non-riding horses! I'm currently in the same process and am too excited for words ❤️
There are so many injured, sick and abused/neglected horses that you guys take in and try to help them. God bless Carter. It is getting to the point that I just cannot watch, anymore. Thanks for all you do. Thanks, Doc, for helping them.
Emma-Grace, hello from the UK. I just wanted to let you know I think you're doing a wonderful job speaking up for the Big Lick horses and educating people on how cruelly they are treated. Thank you! 💜🦄💜
Bless you ALL for being there for Carter & loving ❤️him as he left this 🌍 💔for Heaven where he's 🐎 all over w/the other horses🌈. I know it's hard...but it means the world to him🐴‼️ So Thank You from Stacie in TX ❣️ The little girl pulling Star's⭐ muzzle down to her was soooo cute💕‼️
So sad to hear Carter couldn't make it. RIP beautiful boy and run free!
I love the little kiss the young boy gave his newly adopted horse. SMACK, right on the velvet nose! Precious!
I am saddened and elated all the same. Such a sad day that Carter couldn't be saved but at least he love and kindness in his last moment, but the day was also filled with many successes and blessings.
Love love no metal around their faces. Thank you for all you do ❤️😀.

Poor Carter. I am glad he came to you guys and knew what kindness was before he passed. That little girl at the end was absolutely adorable!
Run free little horse graze in the green meadow up above in the clouds, you didn't live for long and didn't have a great life but now here you are in the clouds above making friends with all the horses that have had a bad life but are now in peace now you can be with the horses that have sadly passed on . You will live forever in your new home we will remeber you and miss you, Rest In Peace little one.
It breaks my heart knowing there's"people" that are responsible for this kind of torment Carter had to go thru leading up to being rescued..... They're such amazing gentle Giants...I can't stop crying 😓 thankfully he had all of you in his last days....

Thank you for your strength and love. These animals are so fortunate to have you!
That darling little kiddo and his babysitter horse!!! 😍
Thankyou for loving Carter in the end, giving him what he needed. He felt loved, for once, and didn't die neglected and alone.
Fly free Carter. You were loved when you were with Horse Plus
Doc, I love you! Your empathy is wonderful.❤ In fact, I love all of you.❤❤❤
Just donated! Thank you helping these beautiful horses!
I've been watching y'all for a while now and it just accured to me, y'all have the best job in the world. You get paid to do what people like me would have to pay to do, ride and take care of horses. I would give just about anything to do what y'all do.
Thank you all! EVERYONE AT HORSE PLUS ARE HEROS IN MY EYES! Poor Carter 😢
It’s so sad like who on earth could abandon a horse like that I hope he has the best life in heaven
I love what you are doing. Thank you for being horse heros♡♡♡
R.I.P Carter, Love Ya Doc. Happy to all adopted. Thank you Horse Plus for saving them and doing everything you can for em. Congrats Sarah, and happy to see the calf doing better. All my horses and my neighbors horses were rescued from auction, lived happy and healthy again, and some we got had to be put down, its sad you do all ya can but ya have to think bout them and how much pain they in. A lesson to learn in this situation is What's better for them, not for yourself. ❤🐎Keep up the great work Horse Plus🐎❤
These episodes just keep getting better...thank you for sharing what goes into rehabbing horses in need!
I am watching you from Europe and i wish there was something i could do to help, not just by donations. I want to take every horse and donkey with me home.. What i can do however is to spread the word about the "big lick" and how this industry torture those beautiful animals. With knowledge comes action. Youth is where to start, educate, have meet ups, inform in schools and they will for sure spread the word and pass it forward. Together we can make changes, no matter where you live. So sorry you lost that beautiful Palomino but you gave him the best life he probably had in his short life. Thank you for all that you do. I love you guys! ❤️
Gah! I just love this so much. The kid kissing the horses nose was so heartwarming. Bless your guys hearts EACH and everyone of you. Also rest the poor horses soul. They earned their wings today!
These videos do so much more than bring awareness… they give me motivation. I want horses so bad. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved horses more than anything and now that I’ve got kids of my own, they, especially my daughter, wants horses so bad. We live in the city in California and we hate it. Feels like a dead end every single day but I watch these videos and it gives me hope that some day we will be able to get out of here. Something to look forward to. Some day we with hard work we can move to a small piece of heaven and come adopt a horse who needs us as much as we’ve wanted them. I want to watch my kids bond with a horse that we’ve prayed for for so long.. thank you for all that you do for these animals.. we definitely as humans don’t deserve something so magical..

Carter was so beautiful. I am so sorry that his original owners got him in such a terrible state. I agree with purplechicken in that I will never understand how people can be so cruel. Why do they have animals if they cannot take care of them?
I love your vet ( doc ) , he’s so genuine , it’s to bad he had to let that beautiful horse go.
I appreciate everything Doc does. Thank you
There is a string on those feed bags. If you snip it on the proper side, you can simply pull the string and the feed bag will pop open all the way across. I fought those bags for years, then someone showed me how to open the bags easily. The trick is is cutting the right side of the string. You may have to experiment the first time or two to figure out which side is which. But I assure you, it is worth the effort in the long run. Kudos to you guys for helping these beautiful horses.

Charge the abuser with animal murder. There must be a very specific place in hell for them. It made me physically ill to see that poor horse. I'm still crying for him, for them all. I just can't comprehend how much evil it takes to do that. God Bless all the animal rescuers. A Colorado Mountain Grandma
The girl who adopted Marvel was sooooo well suited for the horse, their energy matched each other so perfectly ^^
My favorite part was the bit where some horses and volunteers trail ride to the water. You can tell the ladies have worked hard to build the horses confidence, and are proud of it
I have a dream. It features Carter, the stunning Palomino, galloping through a meadow of wildflowers. He is full of joy as he no longer suffers with pain, sadness, or hunger. As he glances at the other healthy horses who follow him, he knows all is well. He will live happy and free. He will never know hunger or pain again, only love and gentle hands Thank you to all of those who saved him and the others.
Hi again ...and so the story goes. A beautiful 3 yr old that was so neglected and or abused at that young age. His body had passed ability to come back but in spite of that Doc and you all tried everything you could. I've dealt with many horse/LG animal vets along the way but I was especially moved by Doc's choice to try everything to give him the best shot. But then how he showed his heart when he really didnt want/ have to let him go. He's a good guy and the right one for his job! You folks are so fortunate to have him there with you! A shame and such a waste of that youngster which sadly such things won't change. If some vile humans will do the same to children they wouldn't hesitate to treat animals that way. ...and so the story sadly goes... Keep on doing your loving and compassionate work. Remember always that might be the only love and care they've ever known. Tawnee your story represents exactly who you were born to be and the life's work you are meant to do. Your passion goes to the bone through and through. You're a special one gal ! Many thanks as always.
