Seeing that little kid Clayton connect with that donkey just melted my heart! I've seen so many kids with animals, and when they look at them like that and get that certainty in their heart its never a momentary thing. That donkey liked her too. Small and non-threatening. I'm sure with that kind of love Hulk won't stay "wild" long!

Enjoyed watching Maddy work with the horses and Jessie has the best of both jobs now. Most rewarding is the adoptions. The gal that got Red was very lucky...he’s gorgeous.

Go for solar, it's expensive at the bigining but after you won't relay on others, and caching water from the roof will allow you to reduce expenses. Good to see many horses, and donkey adopted. Hopefully, the gas, and penicillin shortage won't continue to be a problem.

Tawny And Jason, You can get a 55 gallon tank to go on your property to hold fuel, its an old fashioned notion, but people who lived on farms and rural property used it to fill tractors,equipment and extra vehicles, used to have one on my grandparents farm. Even if you just use it to store fuel and save it for a gas shortage or emergency like this time.

Yet another amazing video! It's wonderful to see the adoptions and the other horses making progress, sad to hear when others need the last act of kindness but always done with the animals state of health put first. Huge hugs from my family to you all here in France.

I’m so glad that you people are able to do this work for the animals. I’m much too sensitive and would be traumatized b what you deal with every day. But these animals deserve to be well treated. Love to see the success story.

Great to see all of the work that you do. Fly free to the babies who get the last act of kindness. Never easy as you say. But you all work soo soo hard with these animals and getting them fabulous homes. Yes as someone also asked how is the Belgian horse doing? Did he go into the refeeding program?

I just got the idea and made a long playlist of horse shelter hero's videos and I'm gonna just let them play all night every night to help add up views on the channel and that way commercials will play too and they'll get paid for those too. I'm not sure how much it'll do but every little bit adds up and it costs me nothing so why not😊

I hope Jessie likes her new job. She is great in all she does, she needs a raise. She does so much. I think the new trainer is going to be great also. Jessie has more time to really see what the horses need to be trained. ❤️❤️

Would love love love if there were a way to show the intake photo of a horse next to it when it's being recorded for adoption just so we can really see the difference. I mean all the ones getting adopted out look great but we know they didn't look that way when they were bought at the auction; I feel like it would really hammer home the great work that y'all do cuz sometimes the imagination stalls and can't see the true impact of what y'all do and continue to do. Would there be a way to do this I wonder 👀... another great episode

I just started watching your you tube videos. I love everything you do. One thing does bother me and that is the bits. If they are metal, you could do without those. That would be so awesome. You are so much about saving, rescuing these beautiful beings and treat them with love and kindness, then I saw the horses being saddled up and the bits going in their mouths and I cringed. Bits (metal and teeth-ouch!) equal pain ! With all the love and care you put into preparing these horses for their loving forever homes, and building trust, the bit seems to go against all of that. It says "I can still hurt you and I will" and it broke my heart. Then the people youare adopting these horses out to will think to use them because you do, and just keep this terrible infliction of pain going! I think you all do a wonderful job making sure they are safe enough and friendly and tame enough to find good homes, but the bits are so against what you guys do there and stand for. It doesnt make any sense to me. I think your trainers are good enough, actually, they are all excellent, and can train the horses, maybe even better without using those awful metal bits. It's got so much to do With building trust then out come the bits :(

The O-ring snaffle bit is one of the safest and gentlest when used correctly and fitted correctly. It is the one most used by trainers for starting a young horse. Hackamores can be more painful than a bit, and not all horses, especially older ones, can convert to a bosal.

I dont think that has ever been proven at all. Bitless bridles can cause lots of damage too. Its all about the hands of the rider i think

interesting, I always hated ramps, my horse, too... they are unsafe especially when a horse fights loading... or it learns to hate loading due to a slippery ramp. By just stepping up and hopping in, they would not even have a chance to worry or raise a fuss & hurt themselfes in the end. But here in Germany, most trailers have ramps and we have to deal with them. Only one French builder, Fautras, has "American style" stepping up system. But way toooo expensive...

It would be great if there where trailers where you have the choice! My former horse scared of step up things (not just trailers), but wasn't bothered at all by ramps. Funny to see the cultural difference. It's good they adressed it in this video!

@@ApequH I believe the French model gives both choices but I never went to by one... LOL. Yes, loading is a tricky thing, the only problem we never managed in 26 years..

Poor Thing Was Given Last Act Of Kindness. My Sister Loves Drafts & Was Really Rooting For Her. The Injury Was Just Too Far Gone, & They Gave It Weeks of Care But In The End The Leg Did Not Improve Enough.

My heaven would be to volunteer at your shelter, however I live in Australia.🤗 Also wanted to ask, what is a horse "bean" found in the sheath? in male horses. Saw one in a very short video & it was enormous!???

Was Jessie the trainer (or anyone else) aware that the horse (12.47) is lame? When studies show that as many as 70% of competition horses are either subtly or obviously lame yet still in work when they should be rested and treated, it stands to reason that the majority of discards will be. Do HSH not rest a lame horse?

G'day all at HPHS. Please don't take this the wrong way, i am NOT badmouthing you in anyway. I donate regularly to your great cause. However, i just want to say that i am in "Jo Mama's" camp when it comes to using bits on a horse. I have owned two horses in my life, one of them being a former racehorse 17 hands high. Both horses could go like the wind if asked too. With both these horses i NEVER used a bit, just a bitless bridle, as i've never been a big fan of bits. I believe if the horse has been gentled enough to safely ride in a gentle manner, and the horse is NOT an Arab stallion, that once they have a full head of steam up, you certainly would need a bit to try and stop them. As "Jo Mama" said, these poor buggers have been through hell, so i would like to see them re-trained and worked by Maddy, without a bit, and then when they get adopted out by someone who is either just going to give them a loving retirement home out to pasture, or is going to give the horse to their teenage child. Then i would be saying, this horse is gentle, won't bolt on you, etc, etc. so really there is no need to use a bit. However, if someone surrendered a young, healthy quarter horse that was an eperienced barrel horse etc, and person considering the adoption was intending to get that horse back into barrel racing etc, then of course i wouldn't be giving them the spiel about NO BIT..!! Just my opinion, i'm sure a multitude will disagree. In Australia, we have the "right to free speech" And i know in the USA you do also.

You’re gonna put down a horse because he has bone chips?? Did I hear that correctly? He might not be able to be ridden or worked, but some anti-inflammatory meds and pain meds would stabilize him. I don’t understand your mission there. The horse could be a companion couldn’t he?
