What is the difficulty set to? If its VH, West Rome and Sassanids are going to almost tie for first place lol. Barbarians don't get VH campaign buffs because they have nothing to collect income from or cities to manage public order in. Which is kind of a downside in the original BI, but gets more noticeable when you increase the size of the Romes.

I think the Sassanids have got this game. Unlike Eastern Rome, their troops aren’t spread out through many territories. The only really have to worry about the Huns, which will most likely target the East.

Been watching your vids for ages and never realised how much you've grown! Well done!

I remember a wise saxon chieftain Godric the "Linaeker" said this back in the day: "Rome TW: BI is a simple game. Twenty-two factions chase the victory conditions for 90 turns and at the end, the Alemanni always win."

This is such an interesting idea. The roaming horde thing was so amazing to me back then, such progress from the automatic extinction of a faction from the original Rome. Nostalgia overload haha

yeah, historically this can happen but they should have at least a smaller horde than the horde they start with and it should be lower in quality.

I wish the diplomacy was fixed so that the hordes are allied to each other initially.

Could we get a Medieval2 mode where all factions start with 10 full stack armies of their elite units free of charge? That would be an epic AI only

Yep, it's modded so Alemani were made a Horde. But Saxons were not, for some reason that the modder told me but I forgot XD

Yeah i was also surprised! I then expected to see the Saxons to be a horde but they remained the exception. Also we didn’t see the berbers

To put the berberes as a horde would have made the game even more challenging. Hey, what about the Welsh?! (Romano-Britons) and the other Celts?

Yeah i hate how horde is unkillable. I remember, how i destroyed Franks/Alemani (or some other horde, i am not sure which one), to only leader units, but i wasn't able to go further as everytime i killed leader, they just adopted new one.

Fun fact I once used a mod that allows you to play as any of the Roman rebels and after taking the last Eastern Roman empire town as their rebels my facion flipped into the Eastern Roman empire and I died :p

The reason the Sassanids kept attacking that settlement was because they knew Melkor was playing as the rebels

It would be awesome if we had a time lapse of only the Western and Eastern Empires

If any mod creators are reading these comments, can I suggest a mod where actual demon hordes are a faction in the game and attack every faction as they are pure evil. This is a mod I'd love to play that. 😁

When I play barbarian invasion Alemanni is almost always the first to go.

MELKOR have you done/could you do some videos on Napoleon with Darthmod. Napoleon is my favourite because of the era it's set in. Darthmod incase you havent played it greatly improves the game.

I've noticed that the Lombardii always go down to Spain and it's really weird to me. I was somehow having a good Berbers campaign expanding into Spain and Carthage then all of a sudden the pink dudes show up. Tragic

I never questioned it, it just made sense to me. Strongest factions move to modern day Austria, then they either split to west, to Italia, or to east, Balkans and Thracia. But there are roman cities away from conflict in Britannia, Gaul and Iberia. Only problem is settlements are too distant. I either go through saxony and secure a roman town near English channel and conquer Britannia. Or just move to Iberia, and secure Pyrenees. I also realised that since the horde ai is too [silly] and aggressive, they charge to city center without any formation. So instead of attempting to secure walls, I pull back, form a line in center with my general and few archers, let the enemy charge at me. I don't get morale damage since I am on the center, and just use my spare spearmen to encircle enemy. Then the general charges as the spear wall and dies, triggering a rout in which my general charges to the enemy infantry, cutting them down by hundreds. Does not work for sarmatian AI. I never went to asia minor or africa. Crimea path takes too much time and africa is boring.

I like the idea, but why didn't they code the Saxons to be a horde faction as well? (And maybe even the Celts)

Historically saxons conquered nearby modern day Germany and some moved to Brittania. If horde factions could make boats, maybe. But asking them to horde just because they are barbarian is like asking Celts to horde. It is just not in their culture to horde.

I disagree with more settlements, it along with bad infrastructure shows the decline of the roman empire - it's harder to have a good economy because there are just less settlements

I agree there, but the modder made his call, but he did do a re-balance of some kind. Either way though, when it comes to the ai, those extra settlements won't really help it much, as it cannot maximise it's potential properly.

I wish it were possible to play as the Roman Rebels and usurp the regular Roman Empires.
