As someone who has worked (briefly) on this mod, I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has had so much love put into it by the devs. I also recommend you check out the spin-off mod, Bolivar's Revolution, set in 1800s South America, containing cool exploration systems and more.

oh my god those battle unit models are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS if only there were naval battles

These modders legit put way more effort into this mod than CA did with Empire Total War.

CA will only ever put in as much effort as they can hope to extract in profit. They will never risk running at a loss. 10 years of this escalating behavior has lead to zero content, buggy releases, that will be fixed alongside DLC releases. Gaming has become such a rapacious industry, and these modders incentivized by passion, not profit, are a god damn gift.

Even though I am not interested in Total Wars set in the early modern period like Empire and Napoleon I might check this one out since alot of people are talking about it and I heard good things about it too

@@VitorEmanuelOliver CA will probably stop supporting it and turn it over to Feral Interactive to do a Remastered Warhammer 3 🤣🤣🤣 That being said i need to try Warhammer 3 now it's had a patch and see if my potato can run it any better. Doubt it though.

I mean pike and shot is more like a 15th - 17th century thing. Modern era arround the 16th to the early 19th

Mod looks fantastic and it has some really interesting campaign features. Definitely giving this one a try. One thing I ran into with 1648, though, is the AI just can't handle pike and shot tactics at all. Like I have a very rudimentary understanding of how those armies were positioned, with a unit of pikes flanked by two units of muskets all up and down the army, supported by some artillery and cav. The AI - well it doesn't do anything like that, and it doesn't like it when you do that either. Their armies just completely melt every single time. I hope one day CA makes a pike and shot game, with an AI suited for the period. Hopefully sometime in the future when they have a team that actually cares about the battle simulation...

Now I want to see this mod with a Medieval 2 Remaster

Unlike Empire I can actually see my family tree and use my leaders for war. I can finally use Charles XII in my campaign

This is not pike and shot. Pike and shot referes to a period before 'empire total war' time setting. this is early modern. pike and shot is generaly put in the 1500-1650ish range. this mod would be atleast 1700-1800 range. i still wish there was a good pike and shot mod/game. one exists for medival 2 but the AI cant handle the tactics at all.

It had pikemen and shot units. "Early Modern" does not fit on the thumbnail, so the artist needed it different.

​@@MelkorGG Okay, fair enough. But from what i've seen from the gameplay there were 0 pike and shot units. Some of the units were even mid to late 1800's.

I’m confused, the mod takes place in early 1700s but the troops are wearing a blend of 18th and 19th century uniforms. Is that what the mod team is going for? The mod looks great, don’t get me wrong. That’s just one thing that stuck out to me .

1700? Pike and shot was fading away at that time. Pike and shot is a 15th to 17th century military progression. Besides my historical noob rant, the mod looks amazing. I will try it.

They also don't advertise as a pike and shot, but it had pikemen and gunpowder units, and I needed some text that fit and looked good on the thumbnail, so just went with it.

Does the gunner unit still behave likes in M2TW?

Well it will take a while to getting used to paintings as building icons and I'm afraid it will continue to bother me but will definitely play it soon.

I had the same problem with the 1648 mod for Med2 and the Italian Wars mod but they certainly look better than those vanilla unit cards from Rome 2.

As a student of history I'd like to remind of the benefit of hindsight, which often makes it difficult for us to give fair assessment to beliefs, judgments and decisions made in the past. One must remember that popular revolts had practically never managed to topple the ruling aristocracy completely - they created havoc and internal turmoil, sure, but in the end the army came on top and it was back to business as usual. The French Revolution taking the course it did, overthrowing _ancien regime,_ creating a severe tumult for decades and redrawing of European political map may seem inevitable, obvious development to us. However, there are many singular events and developments there that were astonishing indeed, many of whom without proper precedent. One such occasion was the the execution of Louis XVI, something virtually unheard-of, which put a quick stop to any support and sympathy Revolutionary France might have had. Emergence of Napoleon Bonaparte & his shaping the potential of revolutionary France into the war machine it became is another such example. The one precedent they had was English Civil War and execution of Charles I in 1649. The difference between the two is that in the mid-1600's republican ideal had not developed into some universalist ideology that would have made republican England a maverick country, bloody-minded to make every other country republican as well. The true irony of the matter is that much of France's economic hardships that brought about the events of 1789 were due to French Crown heavily supporting Britain's colonial rebels in America. a kickback if any, eh? TL,DR: What we see as a neat, presented line of events were for contemporaries only a bunch of dots among of possible dots.

And, to be fair, Prussia especially pitted its armies again the Jacobins in an early stage of the whole affair - I think the very first major battle between revolutionaries and foreign armies was in Valmy* (1792) against Prussians, so there's that. * Though the Valmy was somewhat of a farce of a battle, Prussian retreat without any real engagement was a huge moral boost to the French.
