Your video does a great job of understanding how the Honeywell smart valves work. I still prefer using an independent ignition control board for a couple reasons. Cost and ease of repair. Changing out an entire smart gas valve (equip and labor) far exceeds that of a standard setup. I have also found failure rates higher on the smart valve. None the less, great training video.

Your videos are very educative, if you draw a wiring schematic and show how power flows from point A to point B on the picture and explaining sequence of operation it will be much more understandable rather than pointing out the wire themselves. Hopscotch methods, sequence of operation checks, compressor diags, etc. One that we can use in the field with cards just the ones above (I have both and the workbooks). Someday....

Outstanding training video as usual, longtime follower. That DC voltage kind of threw me wonder why they did that. They just have to make things more complicated don’t they? Lol.

Man I hate these things but this is a great helpful video.

My furnace has a Honeywell SV9501M2056 smart valve. The furnace would turn on then shortly after it would turn off. The issue it had was the capacitors in the smart valve circuit board dried up (high ESR) and then they could no longer hold the correct voltage for the gas solenoid to stay open. They are repairable if you have the right tools and knowledge. You will find this issue with any electronics that have electrolytic capacitors.

What's causing flames coming from the burnes causing minor bangs , it's like delay on the ignitor or to much gas coming in , I checked the spark and it good. It's a RTU 4TON Carrie

Great video, and your other videos are great also. Have a problem hope you can help. On a Peerless boiler hydronic baseboard system, gas valve sv9501m2700, the igniter will not come on. Reading 5 ohms on the 2 blue wires to the igniter. Reading 28 volts on the gas valve where the igniter plugs into it. What can be the problem. Thanks for your help.

Always amazed me how many guys struggled with diagnosis of furnaces with these valves.

Thank goodness there aren't many of those "smart valves" in operation still. Replacement smart valves are crazy expensive

You mention DATA wire on orange wire, what does DATA wire meant?

That 120V hot junction is awfully close to touching metal gas pipe and is making me sweat lol especially considering it looks like double lead ends on one side which are not insulated all around. Nice presentation though.

To see if a switch is open you could set your meter to DC volts and see if you have voltage across the switch. A properly functioning switch when closed should have less than half a volt across it.
