***** Actually, it takes quite a bit of intelligence to understand just how great of a movie this is. It's indirect and doesn't necessarily present it RIGHT THERE in front of you, but if you think of a bigger picture and notice small details you should see why it's so great. In fact, I can link you to a video right here on KZread that explains better than anyone I've seen so far just why it is so spectacular. EDIT: Definitely would have done better as a novel, however.

As a long time fan of Alien, I liked Prometheus. It's a good movie, I don't get why so many people hate it. It's no less confusing and disorganized then the original alien movies. I think people just automatically hate new installments of old series without fairly judging it.

I didn't think that the film looked bad - it actually had good visuals, music, special effects, etc. just the dialog/script & acting were sub-par. so many times the characters made weird, incoherent choices. my only guess is they had a linear path to navigate & so had to have some characters "sacrifice" themselves to the plot in order to keep the film on track rather than having them evolve the story in a more natural way. it's too bad cause I had high hopes for this.

The reason the Alien at the end looks different, is because thats how the Xenomorphs (Aliens) work, their appearance is determined by the creature they were created from, in the other movies, a human, and in this case, an engineer.

Like they have done this a hundred times before, that the wonder of exploration means nothing to them. But people have not been in space long enough for that kind of attitude to set in yet. Which might explain it if they bother to lampshade such an event in the movie at all, which they didn't. Instead, they had a guy who had been ok up to that point, randomly get scared and run off only to later become randomly infatuated with a vagina-penis. You might as well be arguing that he had an undocumented case of necrophobia that the movie never bothered to inform us about. And astronauts having delusional episodes are for entirely different reasons than what these people were dealing with.

This film looks truly appalling. I love this channel. It provides me with regular confirmation that since Hollywood decided to stiff all the really creative writers, very few films are worth watching since the most creative writers are steering clear. I wonder what will happen when they run out of Marvel Comics and Tolkien books? Maybe they will pay off that woman that said she wrote the matrix and get that franchise back on the road. Nah they will just resurrect Star Wars and butcher it like they did with the Terminator.

I thought these "honest movie trailer's" were for people who already seen the movie? You do realize that just because it pokes fun at "iconic" movies doesn't mean that they sucked right? Also it's just opinion. I get some of the points that they make making fun of this movie but I don't think that most people who saw it hated it. I rather enjoyed it actually. Though i agree it could have had some more Aliens in it but it is a prequel movie so what do you expect? Also I didn't know it was a prequel to the alien movies before i started watching it so I didn't have an expectation for it. They do an honest trailer of Jurassic Park for crying out loud which they use as a reference to one of Spielberg's great movies while making fun of "Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull".

silentk59 A lot of people who watch these trailers have also watched the films. They have looked at the summary derived from the trailer and looked at the film and concluded again and again that the trailer predicted the entertainment value of the film. To make good satire, it is necessary to have a substantial core of material to work from. Many of these films have a weak core and the satire brings this to the fore. The better films can still be satirised but it requires more creativity and understanding. If the trailer only has a few superficial themes to satirise it does not speak well of the content of the film.

Most damn accurate thing I've seen all day. Something else that bothered me: if Prometheus is a prequel to Alien (by who knows how many years), then why is their tech so much more advanced? Yes, it's because CGI didn't really exist in 1979, but the retro-tech can still be part of the production design. From this aspect, the videogame Alien: Isolation is a far better heir to the series' crown when it comes to continuity.

This was an honest trailer, no lie. However, I still like Prometheus. It wasn't ever supposed to address the Xenomorphs; that was never the movie's intent. It was to expand upon the Space Jockey from the first Alien movie Ridley Scott directed. Many of us, Alien purists have been dying to see a movie expounding who, what, and whys of the Space Jockeys. The Alien Franchise dealt with the Xenomorphs. Prometheus is all about the Space Jockeys/Engineers and Ridley Scott' obsession about "God" and existentialism and the human need to know where we came from.

  • @JohnFelipo

There was an scene in Alien that was cut from the theatrical release where Ripley found both Bret and Dallas being broken down as biological compost to create the Xenomorph eggs, rather than a "queen alien." The "black goo" acts as a biological weapon and/or means of significantly altering a creature's DNA beyond the natural laws of evolution while making the altered new creature more hostile as a result. There is a pattern forming, and I would conjecture that humans are the hostile children of the Engineers, as shown in the beginning scene. We would are the "Xenomorph" to their "Human."
