Homesteading VLOG | turning a fridge full of milk into butter, mozzarella, ricotta, whey bone broth

Let's turn a few gallons of milk into cheese, butter, broth, and pie!
This day didn't go as planned and I was going to scrap this video, but Instagram told me to share it anyway - so here's a glimpse into a day that just didn't go my way - I was so scatterbrained all day!

I'm Steph, wife of John & mom of 4 living on a 5th generation homestead. My husband's great-grandparents bought this farm in rural Missouri in 1942. My husband was supposed to take the farm over after high school - but he decided to go a different direction and moved out on his own. At that time he said he'd never get married or have kids. But here we are - 4 kids later and back on the farm. I grew up in town - so farm life has been a new adventure for me and I absolutely love it. I'm learning as I go and opting out of as many broken systems as I can along the way. We've lived here almost five years now, we homeschool our kids here, raise and grow more of our own food all the time, and our last baby was even born here on the farm - my first home birth. Learn with me as I share glimpses into our life on the farm.

The mess ups and all just show us idiots that this isn’t impossible. It’s nice to see someone so honest showing your mistakes. Good ups and all can always be salvaged. Thanks!

I stumbled on your channel yesterday and really thank God for you. You are greatly blessed with knowledge and you so generously share it with us. This is my second video and it is so informative. You are a wife, a mother, a teacher, a farmer and you still have time to edit the videos- all with a cheerful face? How many hours is your day? You are inspiring very many with your example. Your family is blessed. If I was living in the US, I would offer to pay you to host my daughters for them to learn from you.

Amazing what cows can do for us. I’m exhausted watching you work. I bet you sleep good at night. I love cheese. I have a 2 year old Grandson who loves cheese. Couple ole mouses. Lol I use to order buttermilk in restaurants. Most younger wait staff didn’t have a clue., as to what is was. A little salt and pepper in it. Yum ! Buttermilk and cheese have gotten expensive. You are saving money. Good job Steph :)

Love this video, thank you for sharing Steph. Couple questions: 1. can you share where you got the milking tins/tubs that you had the weigh in? Those look really handy! 2. Have you ever milked dairy goats and if so how does the raw milk recipe change with goat milk? We're getting nigerian dwarves and they should have more cream than other breeds but but as much as cows!! I'd love to be able to make things with cream however. How long can you keep the fresh cream in the fridge before it goes south? Is that faster or slower than the milk?
