Homemade shotgun design and mechanical operation

• Homemade Reverse-Cycle...
-Link to TheIdahoanShow's video
In impoverished, 3rd world nations, many are in need of arms to hunt in order to survive. As seen in many cases, these arms tend to be improvised, or craft-produced all together. Dive in as we discuss the mechanical aspects of one of these improvised tools.

    You really should place a grip on the barrel. Its gonna be much easier to open it and reload. Aside from that good job on this one. Probably one of the neatest homemades i've seen so far.

    Cant wait to see the terminator 2 fire! I always wondered if i could make a copy of the cobray terminator. Its funny how other people have some of the same thoughts. Thanks for sharing your build looks awesome great job!

    Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I'm going to take it shooting tomorrow, and plan to upload the footage. It's a very simple design if you wanted to build one.

    @@Fairfax_kit i think i might have to try it. Have alot of projects going right now, but when i do attempt it i will mesg you some pics or vids. The idahonen show one was ok but i think he had some feeding problems from that crazy open magazine design. It was very cool but i think the single shot is the way to go with this design. Yah yours is really nice for a homemade shot gun hope it works great. Seems like reloading yours would be quicker than the cobray terminator. Great job

    Was only a couple of days ago I was watching a video about the Terminator and thinking I'd like to build something similar. Nicely done 👌. Hard to see from your vid but is the cartridge retainer and the sear one and the same piece?

  • @Fairfax_kit

    @Fairfax_kit

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yep, it's the same piece, good eye. The sear can be position higher than necessary in order to hold the cartridge in the chamber. Simple solution that keeps the moving parts to no more than 3 total on the entire gun.

    Great job and contrary to popular belief I actually like that design because it is so simple I have a question or two if you don't mind first you seamless tubing can you tell me where I could order it in our area it's hard to get seamless tubing where I am question number two if I was to use black iron plumbing pipe if I reinforced the chamber area do you think it would be all right for like squirrel hunting and stuff that she's at nothing big thank you I appreciate everything you put up you are truly an inspiration keep up the good work I look forward to seeing your second design I think that's going to be awesome

    Does it need that much distance/force for the shell to strike the pin? Seems like it would do it in about 1/3 to 1/2 the distance the barrel travels on yours.

  • @Fairfax_kit

    You are correct, Its pretty excessive, I could cut the distance in half and make the design much more compact if I do a version 2

    Depends on your spring, you could in theory make the barrel travel say 3mm (1/8th)before the primer strikes the firing pin.

    Big question will it fire if you point it up ? such for squirrel hunting shooting up into a tree ? will the shell fall out?

  • @Fairfax_kit

    @Fairfax_kit

    It will fire pointed up. The sear also retains the shell in the chamber, there's no danger of it falling out.

    normal 3/4 inch pipe can be used as a 12 gauge barrel but you might want to put it inside a 1 inch piece at the breech end for about 4 inches

    I used seamless steel tubing. Galvanized pipe and black pipe are both bad choices. The gun is likely to destroy itself if you use them.

    The cobray terminator was one of the worst weapons made in the history of weaponry. Hell, all of cobrays firearms were trash.
