Home-Made Shotgun! Pipe Plinker, Episode 2

A fun little project for myself, I have decided to make a BATFE legal, functioning single-shot shotgun for shooting clay pigeons. (maybe some watermelons, too) In this episode, I discuss layout and final design plans for the weapon.
Special thank To CrypticCRICKET Royal Nonesuch, and The Ammo Channel for inspiration.
I'm not a lawyer, do not rely on my word alone as legal authority if you plan to build something like this. I hold no responsibility for your actions or intentions.

Great project. Ive been thinking of doing something similar. Originally I just wanted to do the simple slamfire... But it keeps morphing into all these ideas and additions to the design lol.

really cool slamfire bro! I was thinking about round tube in square tube with bolt extactor, ejector obvious spring loaded with charging handle! I think it would b pretty cool almost a shotgun machine gun without magwell ,feedramp, ! it could b done as semi what r your thoughts????

There are many smart people like you who, with a little effort and some parts from the hardware store , build a pistol or a rifle themselves and make it work. The real problem is to get some ammunition. It would be great if creative people like you thought about how you can actually make some kind of working ammunition yourself. In the USA you can get ammunition on every corner, but unfortunately not so easily in most of the rest of the world. Best regards from Germany :)

Yes, I know there's a weld bead. It's soft, cheap steal, and can by extension, get smashed in handling. It was out of round.

Would you please help me if possible. What would be the measurements (pipe external diameter, wall thickness, and hole diameter) of a 4130 pipe to make a 12 gauge shotgun? Thank you for your attention.

Are you kidding? Out of round? No. The black pipe from Depot is rolled, not seemless. There is a pain in the ass weld running the length of the inside of the 1 inch pipe. There is a 1" grinding stone as well as 1" flap disk that work well along with a few hours of rasp work before you get that weld out of there. Then you still have to grind the 3/4" black pipe until its quite silver before it will slide inside the 1" piece. Ive not heard of a black pipe being "out of round". Its possible I guess but not likely.

@@Fairfax_kit also, there are a lot of good people that have gotten hung out to dry by law enforcement and the courts over the years. Felonies do not allow purchasing firearms anywhere. Who gets screwed.. the family's of the unfortunate. So, we make our own. Off the books. Nobody is the wiser

A few hundred shot shells have gone through this gun since I finished it, with no change in barrel dimensions. Because I had some on hand, I swapped out the pipe barrel for a 4130 Chromoly barrel, which has an annealed strength of around 60,000 psi. The loads I put through the gun rarely exceed 12,000 psi being that It's mostly birdshot that I shoot. Totally safe. Thanks for watching.

There are some ways to get around welding. If you have the means, drill, tap, and bolt the components together. I did that on another shotgun that I haven't uploaded yet, and it worked well enough.
