Eyeball it lol that’s how the best tortillas are made. Each time it will be different, it’s more about the consistency and texture of the dough that’s important. Also don’t use hot water use warm…hot will fuck it up

  • @lauragenherrin

That's what I'm trying to eyeball from the measuring cup. My guess is 1 3/4 c water and 2/3 c butter. Don't add all of the water at first just in case it's too much. But I hope we get actual measurements 🤞

@dyduty I thought so too, that's why I said not to put all of it in at once. Maybe the first cup then 1/4 cup at a time. It looked like he had a 16 Oz (2 cup) measuring cup.

These are thicker like a Texas/Chihuahua style tortilla. Sonoran tortillas like I grew up with are much thinner. Similar ingredients (though baking pow isn’t always used in Sonora) but rolled thinner. Also, lard will help ensure the tortilla stays chewy/flexible when rolled so thin. Butter/shortening tend to make it crispy when rolled thinly.

This needs to be pinned, Sonora style flour is significantly superior to any other flour tortilla style.
