My mother was the supervisor of the Head Start that was there. So many story of the hauntings of Uncle Caleb. Their house was one of the stops for the Underground Railroad. They would hide the slaves from their asshole “owners” above the kitchen cabinets. It was easy to get to right off the river. I’ll find the article written about the house. There was a picture taken with one of the kids my other had and you can see a shadow of a little boy with a hat on. So much history in there. If anyone that had a child that went to Head Start, I’m Mrs. Esther’s daughter!

My wife worked there a little and it was scary. Mostly she was at Morrisville branch.

There were kids abused there. When I was at Truman we had to go work in a child care center as part of a grade. One girl went there, and she came back and told about children being punished by being put into a closet. Police went and sure enough found a child, one with special needs, locked in a closet. I’m glad that place closed. It was a sad situation.

Great info. It seems that now we are trying to erase history by tearing down old buildings.

Right as you pan up from the 9:20 time (looking at stuffed toy) if you look to the trees behind (center/left) you see something run and hide. Be careful. Nice video.

I had to watch this like 10 times before I figured it out. Newportville Rd is right there, I am mostly positive that it was a passing vehicle. Awesome catch though. 😉

Was very sad when it was knocked down. My husband and I loved the way that house looked. It would have been an amazing place to live in and to fix up. Sad it wasn’t taken care of better. I think the last thing it was, was the home of the Headstart Program in Lower Bucks.

Wow! Absolutely loved seeing this and knowing the history - so interesting Tom. I wanted to ask - is it usual that when a property like this is sold (one with such history) that it can be knocked down? In the UK there are so many laws about demolishing such buildings and preservation. It’s such a shame as it looked like such a beautiful place. All that history just gone.

Well we have a registry for historical buildings that will protect it from being destroyed, apparently this one was not on that registry, and that really sucks. 😔

do they have an equivalent to the british Ordanance Survey in the US? we can view old maps that have gone out of copyright. If they do you should be able to see the layout of buildings on the plot of land
