Round Ruins In The Woods - Bristol PA
Ойын-сауық
Many of us who frequently travel on Newportville Road near the I-95 overpass, have no doubt caught a glimpse of this mysterious round building in the woods between the road and Neshaminy Creek. After much time I have finally decided to get an up close look at this building and I am asking for any info that anyone might have about it.

the controlling FREEMASONS did a great job hiding all this from the globe sheep
In 1988 it had a roof has pretty cool. Amazing what time does. Thanks for the way back machine for me 😊
I used to go there in the 90’s. The roof was dome shaped. The door opened and closed fine and there were steps down to a floor, there was a hole in the floor/ground that was really deep and full of water. It was part of the mansion that used to be right across the street or so I was told by my great grandmother so it’s probably true. We used to call it the mushroom house. The painted on flowers are new.
Try to get in touch with Kathy Butler. She’s from Bristol and has written a great book on abandoned places in Bucks County. She covers some of the places you’ve visited plus more
It is indeed an old pump house for the once Grundy mansion.

Hey i know you 👋🏻
Beautiful greenery and water.
Nice video Tom! Never knew this was there!
Ohhh nice! I'd guess pump house as well.
We always called it the icehouse but apparently that must have been wrong. My father always told me the story of the guy who went crazy in there, he couldn't find a corner to piss in. Every time we passed it I heard about that guy.
Maybe a trip back in the colder weather when the brush thins out? Something tells me that there is more there to see.
Was told it was a pumphouse, for the late Senator Grundy's Mansion and nearby structures, which was located across the road. The mansion was torn down to make way for the industrial park, across the road. The old pump house for the at one time world famous Bath Springs still exist in Bristol, in the woods at Rt.13 and Bath Road.

Grundy Mansion is on the river in Bristol
I noticed that building for the first time last February when the leaves were down and the sun hit it just right.
I have seen schoolhouses in colonial days. One outside Valley Forge Park and one in Phoenixville,PA.
That is the old Pump house for the Grundy Manson. Sunberry Farm was closer to Ford Road.
The structure across from Sunbury was a sewer plant. Always thought the round ruin had something to do with the cattle that grazed there.

I was told it pumped up water from the creek for the cows
Nice, I camped back there a while back and tried to get to that building back there but it was too thorny to get to. You saved me a trip, thanks Tom

@@ThisIsTomsWorld maybe you can get permission to do Thomas Holmes school, Willits and Academy. I think they're taking it down, just started taking out all the windows.
We always connected it to the Grundy house which was across the street which I see in no longer there, I think there was a farm there.

You can read about it if you search Walnut Grove Grundy Farm.
Ice House might actually be correct. In the 1700s and 1800s before electricity, along rivers and creeks there were ice houses with sunk floors used to fill with ice in winter. For large plantations they had these that went down as much as 6 stories underground with steps and they would liad them to the top so they would have ice all year long. Ice would be trucked in by horse and cart through the winter and they filled up to the top with ice to keep drinks cold .
Really enjoyed this explore Tom! Thank you for taking us with you, as always. What a beautiful piece of woodland. Wasn’t there a daycare there at some point? Maybe the daisies were to cheer up the circular building.

@@I_should.go_outside.more- the daycare was at the mansion I talked about, but not here....even though they are close together
Cellar for ice. One of Bucks County School house ?
Once again 👍
If you bring up the GIS map you should have the parcel ID and who owns it and who owned it in the past. There was a lot of history that has been forgotten
That would most likely have been a pump house for pumping water from the nearby Neshaminy creek.
I worry more about the ticks !
The square hole may be a dry cellar . for storing food in, In the winters, It's old, There is a Old house around there I would bet, and rotted away.
Drove by it growing up. I lived in Lower rd. My Dad used to say a guy went crazy in that house because he couldn't find a corner to pee in! 😂😂
That round house is a pump house that pumped water up to the pool at Sunbury Farm. In 1977 or 1978 i talked to a girl in the big barn behind Sunbury farm, her name was Jane, she was the daughter of the owners i believe, and she said she saw Ghosts therecall the time.
Pump house it is. Old engine with many parts missing. Not steam. A four stroke. Because there is a gear near the left flywheel that would have been driving the camshaft. Could have been using oli or gas as a fuel.
... water pump driven by a windmill on top ...
I believe it used to be part of the Grundy Mansion. Research the Grundy Mansion, I know there is information on the Internet about it.

I've been here about 20 years ago or 30 years ago and what I was told was it was used to pump water up from the creek for the cows
It could have been a pump house for water from the creek. Run by steam engines or horses
Is it for the mines or something?

Most have said that it was a pump house for an old farm that used to be across the street....would say that is most likely the answer 😃

looks like a pump, with steam engine.too bad some one didnt restore it.
The fact that it’s made entirely of concrete should help you date it ..if it was all stone it would be older

It's brick covered in stucco
It's a old world building/ruins from prior reset that was mudflooded. The majority of the structure is buried underground...we just repurpose the top part which is why you see old world structures in the downtown areas that have windows half in the ground and brick buildings that look like they are slanted instead of level. Half the building in underneath so they added ramps or steps that were not original to the building so that we could use them. Look closely at the old town buildings casting aside the narrative of all these buildings being built in a short period of time in the 1800's using only a horse and buggy to haul all the materials and without power tools....recalibrate and use your eyes and critical thinking skills...ask God to revel the truth.
