Historic Jamestowne, Virginia

Historic Jamestowne is the official name used for the original site of the 1607 James Fort and the later 17th century city of Jamestown. Watch as archeologists work the sand identifying temporary soldiers' shelters, row houses, wells, the storehouse, and the 1608 church. Listen to students who are helping with the dig explain the small artifacts found on the site.

They done a lot since I was there in '04 or '05. It was right after one of the hurricanes, so the ships were not there at the time of my visit. The glass shop had been damaged and wasn't open either.. Obviously I need to go back for a visit....

Was this taken at the NPS's Jamestown or Jamestown Settlement?

It is both! The video started at the NPS, with the archeological dig beside the James River. We then walked over to the Settlement (right next-door), a recreation of Jamestowne complete with the ship replicas. The settlement would have more activities to help keep youngsters focused and entertained.
