davidegg22

This channel contains travel, DIY, special interest and personal interest videos that I have captured since 1990. In 2009 I upgraded to high definition and in 2014 I added aerial video with a small drone. I try to edit the videos with my audience in mind, sometimes I succeed and sometimes I do not! Either way I hope you enjoy some of my videos. Please subscribe, give a thumbs-up, share or comment on any video that entertains you! Again, thanks for viewing my channel. Dave.

    Pretty drive! I'm glad I got to see this video because I was just in Garnet two weeks ago and there is no way I would have ever taken the Bear Gulch route from I-90. That route is no longer passable except by serious ORV's.

    The past couple of winters have made the I-90 route to Garnet quite challenging indeed. I need to travel this route soon and report the current conditions. Dave.

    Bruce, thanks for watching and asking. I made this game for my grandkids and I must admit, I like playing it as much as they do! This was a one-only woodworking project and sorry to say, it is not for sale. I appreciate you asking. Good luck finding one that will work for you. Dave in Montana.

    This little rural corner of Washington is one of the most special places in the PNW in my opinion. Also easy access from Sullivan Lake nearby over the pass into spectacular Priest Lake via scenic NF-302, a popular road with some local Boy Scout troops.

    It is amazing to me how these videos always tell the story of how well the slave owners lived! However, many historians today advocate for calling these places “labor camps” or “slave labor camps” or "forced labor camps" rather than “plantations,” in order to avoid hiding the truth of what really happened in these agricultural operations using forced labor. The story is not told about how the plantation owners became so wealthy and able to build these homes nor how the enslaved people were whipped, raped, and treated as livestock.

    Ellsworth AFB in SD is a similar base that is still in use. The housing featured in this video is virtually identical to the housing that used to exist at Ellsworth. The old housing on Ellsworth was demolished in the 2000s. The streets and sidewalks were scraped up and removed. Nothing man made was left. A fence with “keep out” signs was erected around the location because of chemical contamination. It was declared a “superfund cleanup site.” TCE, AFFF, and nuclear residue (and more) was found in the soil and/or water. The company that evaluated the site recommended no further human habitation forever.

    Just to think, our service men/women with their families lived and played in the yards that were contaminated. I applaud the government closing off this area forever. Thanks for the informative and enlightening post. Dave in Montana.

    I attempted this trip on Sunday, May 13, 2024. About 8 miles in from MT 471 I encountered a huge snow drift! Common sense said that I should abandon this trip! I had to carefully back up about 1/4 mile to a point where I could do a 6-point turnaround. If you really want to explore Burke ID, do it from the Idaho side on ID route 4.

    Awesome post! I hope folks will read it before attempting. I encountered snow a few days ago around Philipsburg, Mt. There is snow above 7,500' as we were attempting the top at 8,000'. It's still winter in the high country. Yes, backing out is the proper thing to do. I have a friend who tried to turn around in a snowbank and yes, his SxS was high centered, and he didn't even have a shovel! He had to dig out by hand to get unstuck (he was traveling alone). A lesson learned. Thanks for your post. Dave.

    Hi could you tell me about where to find this?

  • @davidegg22
    @davidegg22Ай бұрын

    Sorry for my late reply, I was out exploring! I have traveled to Homestake/Pipestone with my SxS since 2017. I have read sketchy reports of the Flintstone House but could never find it until last year. It is at the end of the unmarked trail WP459 close to the junction of 8627-8628, just south of Delmoe Lake. If you have Avenza mapping just download the free Whitetail-Pipestone Motorized Recreation Visitors Map created by Friends of Pipestone, BLM, and Beavertail-Deerlodge National Forest. I love mining roads compared to logging roads, but you will find me all over western Montana on logging roads, anything to get up in the hills. Thanks for watching and asking. Dave in Missoula. Garret Montana has been been featured in article that govt let you live free. However it was haunted, nonody wants lives there. The stories of an old lady gazing at window, music playing or ghostly people dancing on the winter were occured due elements, shadows of trees or wind caused rustling among trees.

    I live in the area and frequent Pipestone on my bikes and atv. I'm wondering how well my Samurai would get around some of those SxS trails? I'm only about 62in wide and have plenty of ground clearance, but a little lacking in low gears

  • @davidegg22
    @davidegg223 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching and asking. I didn't have any issues with my 62" Polaris General. The trails I have encountered are not that steep so you shouldn't have any problems. I have been riding Pipestone for seven years now and have seven videos posted. Just search my channel for "pipestone" and you will see how easy the trails are. If you feel a trail is too steep you can always turn around since all trails are two-way. Enjoy your rides and have a safe, fun time this year. Dave in Missoula.
