Fun fact: Jennifer Quail is the first champion since Sam Buttrey and Andrew He to defeat a superchampion and return to face two other superchampions after their Tournament of Champions.

They were Mongols. The Golden Horde were one of many groups left after Genghis Khan died and his lands were divided up. I'm pretty sure the GH was ruled by one of his grandsons.

This has been one of the best games I've seen all tournament and the best I've seen since game 3 of the 2024 Tournament of Champions Finals! Jennifer played a great game between two superchampions! While I was ultimately rooting for Amy, I hope to see David return soon!

David Madden could have beaten Amy Schneider, if only he had the courage to bet it all on that last Daily Double, and Amy didn’t take the lead away from David on the last clue.

Interesting wagering. Amy wagered based on the assumption that she'd have to go high, when she actually didn't. Well, had she written anything but "The Golden Horde," it would have turned out to be an unwise bet. Just depends on what you think your strong and weak suits are. I've always thought the Golden Horde was a cool, cool name, so I remembered it. Wouldn't you like to be a member of the Golden Horde, no offense to the Golden Gophers. Then, of course, in _The Catcher in the Rye, there is the famous squash growing in the field --- the Holden Gourd. (Yes, I am out of mine.) Anyway, a good Final Jeopardy! clue.

We're gonna see Amy vs. Andrew yet again, aren't we? We're getting to the point where we're seeing this matchup more than we saw Ken vs. Brad back in the day, and far more frequently too... It's honestly starting to get a bit repetitive LOL

@@tbone3972 But at least with Ken vs. Brad, aside from the gap between the All Star Games and the GOAT tournament (and even then I highly doubt the latter would've happened as fast as it did if not for James's historic run and gameplay as well as Alex's cancer diagnosis) we weren't watching them play every single year and there tended to be a fair bit of a break between each of their matchups (2005-2011, 2011-2014, 2014-2019 etc.). It seems like with Amy and Andrew we're watching them play against each other literally every single year (and in some cases literally within just a few months of each other), and by the end of this tourney it'll be anywhere from 12-14 matches in total they've done within just 30 months of their initial match. It's getting to the point where they're starting to feel more like cast members of the show rather than typical contestants.

I doubt it. It was one of the four Khanates that came into play after Kublai Khan's death. I had it down to two answers. I thought about the Golden Horde in my deliberations which was in the northwest part of the empire. I thought about the Yuan Dynasty which was the Mongol conquest of present day China. I was thinking about how the Ming Dynasty took over after the Mongols left China. In the end, I went the wrong way and went with the Yuan Dynasty. Dumb move on my part.

Speaking of dumb moves - how about bonehead in the middle going it all when she should have realized that the only way she could win was if neither opponent was correct and therefore should have bet enough so she'd still outscore the other two, who were most likely going all or almost all?
