***** You're right about your comment regarding success. (I disagree with your comments about ambition). I think that this was the point that Jeannie was trying to make that was missing from Tamar and Loni's points. Having a job and a plan does not mean that a person won't have periods where they are down and out or in which unforeseen circumstances, beyond their control prevent them from progressing for years even. This of course depends on what you are looking to succeed in doing...

I'm a man and I absolutely 100% total agree. It's crazy when I see my female friends talk about all of the potential their guy has, yet he isn't doing a thing to put his potential TO USE! Everyone wants to be a business owner: what's your product? How much do you have to sell onto become profitable? Who is your competition? Bottom line: there is a HUGE difference between ambition and "potential"

Potential is the guy who has the qualifications (a degree in engineering for say) but not shooting for the best. Settling for a job that pays him $20 per hour. Ambition is the guy that say "the sky is the limit" with or without qualifications, he is shooting for the best, trying everything withing his power to reach his full potential. Am i clear Adrienne

Ama O No, Jeannie was not confused, YOU are and it's because of them cutting her off. Jeannie was addressing the point that Tamar made about there being a time limit on ambition. Jeannie was showing through her example that, depending upon what one was ambitious about, it could take any amount of time to reach a goal and achieve success. This is why she started her explanation of with Mark Cuban and also used old man Colonel Sanders, who didn't achieve success until much later in life. I completely agree with Jeannie and I totally understand where she is coming from. Now, having read this, go back and watch it again to see what you missed first time around.

Pamela Amaniapong Hi Pamela, I think that what you are saying makes a lot of sense for an everyday conversation. However, since this is a talk show with viewers the co-hosts should be looking at the bigger picture within the context of the show. Five co-hosts have been hired, each for their individual backgrounds and perspectives. Disagreements are expected. However, part of a co-host's job is to enable topics to be discussed from multiple perspectives, which means not only speaking but listening to views that you disagree with. I could understand if this had of been a controversial topic e.g. rape, causing people to become emotional, but this is a simple discussion. What often happens is whoever shouts the loudest is heard and as a result the discussion becomes somewhat one sided. An example of this is the discussion about disclosing the number of sexual partners with a partner. Loni became defensive (maybe because of her insecurities) and shut down anyone suggesting the number should be disclosed. No one said it was easy to have a short discussion with four other people in front of thousands of viewers. Being a co-host is a job, which requires professionalism.

Yes to all of this. Ambition means that you are working now, and taking steps to continue raising the bar in your life and reach new dreams. Nobody is saying don't have a job. They're saying, if I have goals and dreams, I want a man who has ambition and focus to further himself in his career too. That's all. I'm with Adrienne because I don't feel you should ever give up on your dreams. Its good to have a job and provide for yourself, but you have to keep going towards what it is you believe you are meant to do here. Ultimately, I agree with the fact that if you have dreams you have to lay the groundwork and keep going until it gets you where you want to be/deserve to be.

  • @JungianHeights
    @JungianHeights9 жыл бұрын

People change their minds constantly. We are expected to know what we want to do at the age of 13. Does anybody really know? Some people change careers completely at 40 after 20 years of doing one thing. Life is an adventure and you should strive to have the most fun possible. In this case, I think what's more important than ambition is kindness. After all, having ambition isn't going to make your relationship work.

I think Jeanie's Siracha story is valid because Tamar did make the point about being 40 and it being over for a man. This dude did not stop believing in himself; even when his family may have rolled their eyes, and people turned him and his product down, he kept going. Now, because of his vision and faith in himself, his product is everywhere and in a million fridges and cupboards. That is passion. Nobody can dream a bigger dream than you can for yourself. I refuse to let anyone tell me 'you can't.' Get your life, you better believe I can.

I am tired of reading these comments talking about Jeannie being bullied. Enough. She is a grown ass woman and if she feels like she wants to be heard more then she needs to open up her damn mouth. Not too long ago Tamera put her foot down when she wanted to be heard and ever since then she is able to get her point across. If Jeannie wants to be heard then she needs to say so. She is not being bullied. Do you people even know what that word means anymore?

They do seem to jump on Jeannie as if she doesnt "get it" and its hard to when you have 5 women jumping in and out of a certain topic: Are you debating potential vs. ambition? or the age limit for Potential /Ambition? because it sounded like they were trying to discuss both at the same time and when Jeannie made a great point for the latter by saying her friends father put in 20 years of work and being on hard times before his ambition paid off, they discount her opinion as if she doesn't know the difference between ambition and potential. I WOULD HAVE LOVED to hear Tamar's take on that specific situation and if that story that Jeannie brought up would change her viewpoint of there being an "age limit" on achieving ones potential BUT we never got that far because they cut her off like they always do smh!

I think it's important for a person to generally have a solid work ethic and be an excellent saver, in addition to ambition and self-motivation. It's always interesting to me when I hear ladies insist on having a man with a job. The reality is jobs can be lost for multiple reasons. Sometimes people get jobs through contacts but may not even be particularly good at what they do. There have been economic periods in which high flying executives have found themselves in the dole queue. A stable, wise, self-motivated individual who is full of initiative will make their way through anything and be willing to take up any job to support his family if necessary, but someone who has become successful through luck or family connections might be lost if things fall apart.

I agree that the panel picks of Jeannie a lot but in this segment they were not belittling her. She tried to say that her friend's dad, who now owns Sriracha, is an example of a man that had potential not ambition. He did have ambition however, cuz he went door to door for a very long time, trying to make a living out of this baby food. Jeannie simply did not know the definition of AMBITION and POTENTIAL and got the two confused. The hosts were pointing that out to her. And this is not the first time Jeannie's had some trouble with her english either, lol.

I think at times they dont realizse ambition doesn't put money on the table. Many people give advice like any job is good as long as you arent broke however they arent thinking about what that means for them long term. Is that job going to help in the overall outlook of the career. For example, should you apply to a food industry job like waiting tables or should you put your effort into an office job . Now it depends how long are they waiting tables for and will they have time to upskill for their career or should they get that office job that pays less but could benefit more in their career in stem. Understand that many people get comfortable with certain jobs because of the temporary money, friends they made at work, or they arent interested in job searching anymore. Their is always potential for them to stay at a dead end job waiting tables like my bfs dad who has been in janitorial for 20 years only making 35k a year. My bfs dad definitely had potential to do better which is why my bfs mom picked him but in the end he stuck with dead end jobs and luckily for him he is at least a janitor fulltime at a famous university so he at least gets benefits. In your 20s its fine to do remedial work but the quicker you start a career the more you'll be able to take care of your future family. Many younger folk these days are thinking more about whether their income could afford having kids. Unlike the generations before us we are choosing to be childless or to have kids when we are financially stable where as in the past your kids are what is going to help generate wealth or have kids and become successful after. Having grown up in a household that couldn't even afford basic things I would definitely say that effects adult children profoundly. Much of the time we are forced to mature to take care of our siblings or home. We are forced earlier on to work to add another income to the home or we are forced to fight are siblings with the few resources our parents could or choose to provide us. I had a shopaholic abusive mother who often would rather buy clothes or random things rather than buying some groceries now that she make 180k a year she still lives paycheck to paycheck because she is still a shopaholic she just makes more money. In total my parents make 300k a year but still cannot afford to help any of their kids. So often hearing things from my parents saying we held them back in life when my parents choose to have us in their teen years and they themselves didn't have parents who were their for them.

Did I watch the same segment as you guys? How are they "not letting Jeannie talk" when she told an entire story? It's a discussion with 6 bold women. People WILL be cut off, some people will be more aggressive then others, people WILL disagree. It's not shade. It's REAL. If you don't like it, don't watch. But stopppp with the negative comments on positive segments like this one.

You guys with the Jeannie comments on every video are getting annoying, we get it. Eventually she's going to have to find her voice or just keep being talked over. They did the same thing to Tamera and she got them together. Its not just on this show its on a lot of talk shows. I'm sick of hearing about who's throwing shade when its none being thrown at all. This panel is filled with opinions, but no one respects the others person opinion so they jump down each other throats. No, its not just Tamar or Loni, everyone has there moments.

I swear I defend Jeannie so much because I feel like am always the person everyone wants to pick on. I am kind, polite, and I like to listen to what others have to say. I noticed no one agrees with or validates anything I have to say. I have many ideas, I love to read and write,I read the world news every day so that I am aware of what is going on around the world not just the US. I really love to watch documentaries on the history channel, PBS, National Geographic, the discovery channel..etc I love C-SPAN too because I am a political geek!I just cannot seem to catch a break when I am around other people, especially women I feel like I have to dumb down my intelligence because otherwise they will think I'm weird or pretentious. I do not know if that is the case for Jeannie, but I can sense she is holding back and there is a lot she wants to say. Perhaps, show how intelligent she actually is. Please stop picking on people because they are different!

Ambition is important. Don't just talk about your dreams, work your butt off trying to achieve. However, this video seems to wreak of a " What can this person hand to me on a silver platter" attitude. If you are only interested in a mate for what THEY can get for you, and this applies to men and women, you aren't in a mature position to be in a relationship. If he treats you like a queen, loves his children, don't kick him to the curb because he can't cover your $70,000 luxury car payment.

I don't know why Tamar and Lannie feels the need to talk to Jeannie like that but it is starting to get on mg nerves. She always brings up valid points if they let her finish. Tamar is so rude and dumb, she hardly makes any sense and always making all those weird sounds. Jennie is more relatable and fun. I wouldn't be surprise if she quits and flip out on them one day. The producer need to do something about it.

This whole potential -vs- ambition thing I disagree with. The difference between the two aren't that paramount to have such a lengthy discussion over. For me, someone with potential could come from that person doing the basics or trying his/her hardest to reach their goals, and aren't there yet, but have the ability. Thus being their ambition to reach their potential. Both words entail ground work being put it. A lazy person who sits at home dreaming has neither the potential or ambition to reach their goals. There's really not much difference between the two apart from the spelling..

These discussions are so weird. You get what you put into it. If you want on ok partner you yourself should be ok... or work on your self -esteem. I’ve seen women who got things working for them (pretty, nice, smart, good job), but tolerated so many things from a guy because “maybe he will change”. No, he will not change. Your no 1 priority if you want to start a family should be to get an ok father for your children. These examples with some dude who in his 40s or 50s became super succesful, but up until then he and his family were on food stamps.. are outrages. Do you really want your kids and you to be on foodstamps until their 20s.. and then boom, your husband becomes rich.. and replaces you with a “younger model”? Tbe flip-side to this is that if you want a man that is clearly heading to upper middle class you yourself should have something to offer. Work on yourself. And stop wasting your time dating “maybe he will change for the better” men because as you get older as a woman, men get less interested in you. Family oriented men tend to marry young( late 20s; early 30s). Why would they wait around?
