I want to hike down into that meadow I showed below and fish the West Walker river. It looks like great access. Snow should clear out in the high country after this heat wave so it's time to start building on my backcountry hiking and fishing playlists.

I didn't get jack so I'll be going back soon with what my experience suggests to me will be more productive. I saw big risers out in the middle and had a real nice brookie follow my jig right up to the shore before swimming off. Don't be surprised if I am fishing here this month.

When you got to top of saddle, by big tree. You need to cut to right. Decent trail down to lake. Fish by outlet stream, further down lake by end under big tree Other yhan Kirman, some of tje nicest brookies around

Great video. I've been to Roosevelt and Lane a few times (on my way to Fremont) and for some reason never went to Secret or Poore. I also never took the quick little side trip to that stretch of the West Walker. I caught a huge Brookie from Lane one year (like submarine sized) but never fished them much b/c I was always in a rush to get to Fremont and beyond. Now....I feel like I've been to Poore. I think you'll have a chance at something 20+ at Poore b/c Lane and Roosevelt have them.

I didn't get anything. I had one big brookie follow my jig up to the shore but that's all I saw other than thick schools of baby trout everywhere along the shore and good size risers way out in the middle I had no chance of reaching. I just ordered some stuff I think will work next time and I plan to head back out there as soon as it gets reasonably cooler. I am loading up on things that look like those baby trout.

I need to go back after seeing that big brookie. I just didn't have what I needed. My usual alpine lake stuff just wasn't cutting it. I have to go back and see if I can do better. I have to! I walked the whole lake shore and I didn't see any main trail into there or even many signs of humans. I think the bushwhacking route we both took is the way in.

I have already ordered stuff that looks more likt those baby trout. I plan to go back sooner than later to try again with more suitable stuff. I also plan to hit Roosevelt and Lane.

spot burning like this will ruin fisheries. Just as the other lakes in the area have declined due to social media. The views are not worth the detriment. Good thing its an EXTREMELY tough fishery with rough terrain as well. RESPECT THE RESOURCE

I have over 5 dozen lakes on my backcountry playlist and what you claim will happen simply hasn't to any of them. Most people get to hike into the backcountry, at most, a couple of times a year so maybe in a couple of decades they can fish it all. What about sites that have been up for years like fly fishing the sierra?. Detailed maps on every fishery in the sierra with types of fish and what to use. They even give driving directions to the trailhead. Search up "good trout fishing lakes in the Sierra" or "10 best short hikes around Bishop". This information has been online for decades and it sure has a hell of a lot more detailed information than my short clips. That's why I only have to spend 10 minutes researching hikes and alpine lake fishing. Ever heard of AllTrails? GPS coordinates to every trailhead in this country and GPS that will take you right up to the lake you are hiking to along with user testimony to tell you how the lakes are. I get it, shiny object in front of you. Go watch something else chowboy44. RESPECT REALITY.
