Awesome to see you back blazing the hiking trails. I like the adventures of you and Lance. Looks like a fairly decent hike without too much elevation. I’ll take that any day, especially to a lake with fish. Awesome video 👍🎣

Right on. The fishing was nonexistent but for hiking and camping it's a real cool area to visit. I could have done without the bear hanging around camp at night though!

1000 lakes void of fish wilderness 😅 .... i passed by that sign last summer while fishing the wild trout section of hat creek below hwy 299. I was curious about it ....but now my questions have been answered lol. Thanks man

You almost got sucked in by the sign like I did! If there are fish in those lakes there aren't enough to make me want to grind away trying to catch them. I didn't see any sign of anything! When I saw no inlet or outlet in the first two lakes I was instantly doubting everything!

Awesome hike - love that new area you are hiking, cannot wait to see how the fishing is, CDFW did not plant that lake this year based on their website - but I know you guys will get into something. 👍👍🎣🎣

By now you know the fishing was crap! Cool area to hike and camp in through. Really scenic in a different way than the usual granite landscapes of the Sierra Nevada to the south.

Always glad to do it. I hope to load up my hiking playlist with more new destinations this season. There's already enough on there for decades of backpacking for most people who might go once or twice a year. I plan to expand it even more in the years to come.

I was close to you. On Wednesday I tried to hike up rock bound pass to Rubicon river. Too much snow for me to pass safe!y on the side of the pass towards the river. And I lost my fishing pole somewhere on the trail near wrights lake. Lots of skeeters, too.

Oh man, that's terrible. I'm glad you gave the follow up because you mentioned you were going so I was wondering what the snow situation would be like. I always turn around when there is too much snow. At least, now I do since I've become older and wiser!

Had tons of trout. Then, Sunset Magazine did an article about the place. Lakes to the south are good fishing.

They haven't stocked up there since 2016 is what we found out after the fact. With no where to reproduce nearly 10 years with no replenishment equals few to no fish. I guess they used to stock it by plane but apparently that isn't in the budget anymore.

Yeah, I like the 4 mile or less lakes. I can always hike farther with a day pack from my camp. Hiking is the thing I like least about heading into the backcountry. I enjoy it for a while and then after too long it can become more like suffering!

Love your hiking videos! Sad to see so many big trees dead from fires and diseases but still so beautiful and secluded wilderness area. Hope you had some good fishing going as well!

We found out they haven't stocked anything in that area for nearly a decade so with no streams to reproduce in the prospects are tough. If you are fishing you might want to target somewhere else if you can still make a change.
