High School Expels Marine For His Attire, Then Something Unexpected Happened!

In the small town of Crown Point, Jacob Dalton Stanley's high school graduation took an unexpected turn when the principal expelled him from the ceremony for his choice of attire. The young Marine felt robbed of an important moment of his life, but the principal downplayed the incident, thinking it would all be forgotten in a matter of days. However, something unexpected happened that changed the course of events. The "Principal" of this high school is not only morally wrong, but also ethically wrong. This person should not just be fired, but never allowed to be in, on, or near any school for the rest of his life.

That principal should have been fired, so vindictive. That principal should have called the marine asside before the ceremony started instead of blindsiding him like he did. If I was on that school board I'd make it my mission that he wasn't employed by the district anymore. He took something from this young man that can't be replaced infact he turned what should have been a good memory of a major milestone in life and gave him a bad one in its place.

The principal told him that morning before the ceremony, but he wore it anyway. But I firmly believe this principle is petty, jealous, and vindictive. I agree with you.

So, the principle robbed that young man of graduating with his peers simply because he was motivated enough to not only complete all of his requirements for graduation, but also graduated from Marine bootcamp, and that man wasn't fired? It's nice that they created state wide legislation, but where's the justice for the one person who was harmed? And where is the punishment for the one person who did the harm?

The uniform is a symbol of pride and service personnel are taught as well as trained to face all adversities . I'm sure Jacob wasn't expecting such an obstacle in his hometown . Whatever reasoning this " principal " had for doing this is surely unbased . An immediate reduction in salary should just be the start of reprimands handed forward in retaliation of this " self serving " act

That principle should be removed. He had no right to do that to that poor boy. That young man had a strong future and he made it seem as if he had failed.🤬

I had a somewhat similar situation but not with a uniform. The year was 1976, and the Vietnam War was still fresh in the minds of everyone. I actually signed the papers to join the Marine Corps in 1975 but didn't go to boot camp until after graduation. For the Seniors, we had a book published telling a little about each one of us. Since I had already joined the military, I put Military as my occupational goals. Well, I guess the people who were putting the book together decided to list my goals as "undecided ". I'm sure Vietnam had a big part in that decision. In July of 1996, I retired with 20 years of service. I wonder how many of my fellow seniors accomplished their goals and what impact they had. I'm proud of my service and would do it all over again. Service in the military should be applauded and not degraded. I heard a saying, "It's not that I could, and you couldn't. It's that I did, and you didn't."

The principal should be made to spend time at Paris Island going through some of the military drills. I bet he'd never make it through. I wonder if perhaps there isn't some envy involved on the part of this principal, so childish. This is the kind of person I kept encountering while in the education system - unfortunately this type of attitude is found often and needs to be uprooted from our education system.🇺🇸👍

I attended HS in my uniform (in 1981) nothing was said. I didn't consider asking to wear it for graduation because I considered my cap and gown to be the uniform of the day. I definitely would have appreciated an acknowledgement of those of us who had contracts already and those about to sign up. That being said, I'm not sure why it was such a big deal to the principal.

Years ago the Supreme Court put a stop to many of the regulations public schools had on the way you dress or how you had your hair. That was when I was in junior high. Before that teachers would be telling you to get your hair cut.
