    I've trained like this too. I'm curious. What was your set up? Meaning sets/reps but I see Dorian and others do their first exercise and I understand the warm-ups several and a heavy set but then I see his second exercise is a warmup but it's still real difficult and them his heavy set. I'm just curious on how you pick a weight that's a warmup but it looks and is taken as a hard set? Why not just warmup enough, not tire yourself AT ALL and go in on the heavy set?

    I've been lifting intensely for many years. I know some say it's the "wrong" way to lift and can lead to injuries or taxing to the CNS, but I just love the euphoric rush I get after an intense workout. I've tried sub-maximal training leaving 2-3 reps in the tank in compound lifts with lighter weights at higher reps and more sets, but I just got bored and didn't get the same type of rush..

    @@jessebradford7130 I personally to the original 531 and go balls to the wall on the AMRAP set. I follow that with 3-5 sets of 3-8 reps of the opposite lift at or near failure. I then do accessories, 2-3 sets of 4-8 reps to failure.

    This style of training is so effective, that Dorian's competitors had to step up their game, just to catch up. Thus why any top tier pro bodybuilder of the 90's could blow away today's contemporary Olympia competitors.

    He really puts the difference between volume and intensity into perspective. Yes, higher volumes is what most people do go drive hypertrophy and time under tension. However, a couple warm up sets and then a couple all out heavy, intense working sets will drive the same stress to also build muscle.

  • @rednirabkriv5376

    @rednirabkriv5376

    Correct. But I wouldn't say same stress. Hit will just tear the muscle up right there and then destroy it fast. And volume will pump it slowly over time in the end its the same result over time. Hit Is more strength focused volume is more pump focused imo

    Wow, you can see/hear the Mike Mentzer influence, even the sun analogy. 2 greats changing the world of bodybuilding forever! My first introduction came 20ish years ago from the max ot method. Competed 100% natural as a junior against guys that were on gear and ranked in top 3 regularly. That was the first proof for me the hit was very efficient for muscle growth. (although I had to diet down about 3 times longer than the guys on gear to be same low bf level). Become obese in 30s(35% bf). When I turned 41,decided I needed to do something... 7 months later I was down at, dexa and calipers, verified 13% bf. I still do hit as that's what I know, and funnily enough, there are quite a few guys (including personal trainers) coming up to me and saying I'm training too hard, I don't need to go to failure etc etc, yet I've shredded down and added 3kg muscle in this time, but the ones that are talking, I've seen little to nothing changes in their Physiques. Second time proof that hit works. The hard part is learning what failure actually is, and it's not the ache, or burn, or red face etc... It's when the muscle can't do another rep, regardless of what you want or wish. It's something that needs to be practiced and trained to get to that point. To those doing it, keep at it and be proud of your achievements, to those are not, give it a try and really commit to doing it for a few months before fleeting to another program. It will change so much for you ;)

    Seeing Dorian quest pose had me in awe. I never had seen a front lat spread and calves that big int he flesh! He is my all time favorite & also the he only bodybuilder (aside from Mentzer) that I got inspiration(I modeled my training after Dorian's) from and from age 20-21 to almost age 25 I made amazing gains. I wish I had more of mentor (not crazy training partners) that could have got me to stop the ego lifting and pre-exhaust.

    One thing I noticed about Dorian in 93 Mr O video. His muscles were massive and rock hard at the same time, with muscle maturity and paper think skin allowing the striations. Mr O Jay Cutler did this same kind of look in 2009 and all remember his most famous quad stomp pose..Mr O Big Ramy did in 2020. Since bodybuilding is an individual sport.. I dont think the formula can be chalked out for future!

    HIT works! I've been doing HIT for a year now and I've seen far better results than I did doing heavy volume training. My current HIT program is a Mentzer baseline program, two exercises once a week, two sets. 1. Sissy squats-10 reps, then close stance pushups-10 reps. Then nine days rest. Then 2. Situps-10 reps. Then Superman late pullups-10 reps. Then nine days rest. Along with a good breakfast and plenty of sleep, I see awesome results! I've heard tons of naysayers (Doug Brignole: "Research has shown that HIT doesn't work." Other experts claim that gains will taper off after awhile, blah blah) I don't know if HIT will work for everybody, but it works for me. Mike Mentzer knew what he was talking about. Some people need far more recovery time, as I do. I don't lift weights I do only bodyweight exercises.

    I too have been training just once every 9 to 10 days! My program is simple: leg press, chest press and close grip pull downs. That’s it. I use a slow rep cadence of six seconds up and six seconds down, and I’m growing muscle like crazy right now! Just loving it. HIT works

    @@bryceclark8985 So I train 4 times a week for about 40 minutes each session. Usually I train 1 muscle group per session. 4 sets on 4 different excercises, 8-12 reps and as heavy as I can without losing form. So this is what it looks like atm: Monday - Rest Tuesday - Rest Wednesday - Chest Thursday - Back Friday - Rest Saturday - Legs Sunday - Shoulders/core Notice I don't train arms, that's because I have crazy arm genetics, they get worked enough on chest and back days. If I incorporate seperate arm days they get way too big for the rest of my body and it looks super weird. I know many people struggle with arms but I never did, hell I even had decent arms before I started working out xD
