Thank you for listing the shortcomings! I see a lot of people explaining the model, but nothing about the shortcomings. I feel more confident about my exam now. Thank you!

You're most welcome Emily! Your comment is very useful, as it highlights a usp of this tutorial. And I do always try and incorporate something more, by adopting the perspective of different types. It often gives me an edge over several other larger organisations that produce tutorials a lot more regularly! ☺

I wonder how many managers really use these theories when deciding how best to motivate their employees? I believe that the most effective managers motivate their employees by learning & mastering their employees' temperament as well a finding creative ways to meet individual needs & desires.

Hi Michael. You're right. Although various theories do exist as references for managers to motivate employees, enhance productivity, and basically get more out of team members, their usage really does vary from person to person. It also sometimes depends on the industry type. It's just like teaching, really. There are various ways to teach and impart knowledge, and one can learn these techniques. But he/she can then decide which techniques to apply and in what context. And once a particular technique is seen as being effective by a teacher, he/she would then internalise it in due course and use it for the benefit of the students. I think one of the key aspects of success in managing or teaching is to be open to other approaches and be willing to learn and adapt.

Hi Eyamin. I have added this to the pipeline for you. :)
What is the relationship between money and motivation
@MisterSimplify

According to Herzberg, although money is important, it isn't the most important factor that drives employee motivation. But if a person makes a lot less than he expects, there will be de-motivation. Money is therefore more of a Hygiene factor than a motivational factor. Hope this makes sense. All the best!
I've watched 5 videos on this theory. It's sooooo boring after 5 videos I still can't figure it out. I'll just stick to Maslow, simple and interesting. Done.

Hi. Is there a specific question in your mind? The two factor theory is simply about understanding the factors that can motivate people and factors that can demotivate people. For example, a restaurant worker will be motivated if he's provided extra pay, and a de-motivational factor will be smelly toilets to use at work. So it's about balancing these factors out
