Developed in 1959 by psychologist Frederick Herzberg, the Two-Factor Theory of Motivation explains that certain factors in an organizational setting are responsible for producing extreme levels of satisfaction. Labeled by Herzberg as motivational factors, these factors can be a source of extreme levels of satisfaction if present but wouldn't produce extreme levels of dissatisfaction if absent. Through his work, Herzberg also determined that certain factors could not be a source of extreme satisifaction but could produce extreme dissatisfaction if absent. Herzberg labeled these hygiene factors, which include pay, benefits, job security, and friends in the workplace.
In addition to providing an overview of Herzberg's Two Factor-Theory, we'll also discuss how it relates to Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and the impact that the Two Factor Theory poses for the workplace.

I just heard of Herzberg's two-factor theory today, and I found this video to be quite informative and rather simple, especially when the theory was likened to Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Thank you for this wonderful video!

Wow, you're a damn good teacher :D
very very helpful, good work!
Its a great way to learn away Herzberg's two factor theory of motivation. You teach it in an understandable way. If i am going to be picky i would suggest that you teach based on a presentation and dont use the drawing board to write. Writing and teaching takes alot of time and may cause boreddom. May i also ask what kind of drawing board you are using? The precision is excellent!
Glad I could help @SuperGrateful777! If you're looking for information on expectancy theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs you may want to check out episodes 27 & 20. Hope this helps.
thank you, helps a lot
thank you so much appreciated work
You're very welcome!
Very useful video helped with my revision :)
The presence of motivational factors would mean little if hygiene factors are not present first. Remember, hygiene factors are fundamental and necessary to ensure a reasonable level of satisfaction. So if you lack job security (a hygiene factor), it wouldn't matter if you were recognized at work (a motivational factor). A lack of hygiene factors is a source of extreme dissatisfaction, and there is plenty of research that supports an unhappy worker is less productive and more likely to leave.
reallyyyy thanks for uploading this file.

so does this mean if hygiene factors don't exist in a firm and motivators do, i would be dissatisfied but I wouldn't be able to get motivated? actually im struggling with the difference between satisfaction and motivation atm ._.
