All the records that Lionel Messi has, La Liga Golden Boots, European Golden Shoes Ballon Dors La Liga assists La Liga goals his G/A at World Cups etc, I don’t see anybody breaking those records anytime soon and it just shows that all time, he’s a level above a lot of players. In 2011/12, scoring 91 goals in a calendar year it’s a difficult achievement yet someone who’s known for his playmaking and technical ability managed to score that many goals in a year. As good as Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are, I don’t see any of them touching this record anytime soon even if they continue scoring goals at the rate that they’re doing and hardly get injured. Messi was consistent and prolific throughout the year for club and county and he even had a 12 month span where he scored 100 goals and I can’t believe that he actually did that. That year alone he even outscored teams like Borussia Dortmund PSG and Chelsea Arsenal who indeed actually won the champions league that year. Do you know how good you have to be when you yourself outscored some of the best teams in the world. Last week I read a stat that Andre Onana a goalkeeper has conceded a goal a game this season for club and country while Messi in one season and one calendar year averaged a goal a game. That just tells you how unstoppable he was in his peak being able to score that many goals in one year while being an excellent creator combined with his gifted technical ability.

Who’s fault is that? Messi? He didn’t vote for himself last I seem to recall, that award is voted on by national team captains and managers. Modric voted for Messi as did some other Madrid players, blame them Messi didn’t even show up to collect the award.

Ronaldo Nazario before injury, Ronaldinho before 2006/07. Messi had overall carrer better than these 2 becouse of his long consistency, but he never achieved them level, neither Zidane's level. Messi the king of possesion loss stats. They all have mutual respect for each other though, "period".

I respect Messi but due to his limited range of skills (possible in football) and plenty mistakes resulting in the stats I mentioned that nobody is talking about but if you want you can check it like nobody talking about Mbappe volley goal in the world cup final that happened around 10 seconds after Messi very stupid and unnecesary dribbling losing possesion in the center that almost cost them world cup trophy. Also the fact that even in Messi's greatest strenghts, that is the dribbling Ronaldinho was better and Ronaldo Nazario was at least the same lvl, he cannot be the goat. And Zidane was more skilled footballer overall. Messi perfected 2 - 3 moves, bu that's actually just 2 - 3 trick pony, very strong and respectable, not enough though to be the greatest. Even the fact there is a debate between him and CR7 confirms his lvl below mentioned 3. Just stating facts.

Ronaldo couldn’t even get 65. More goals head to head. 42 hat tricks to 28 without penalties. Better goals/90 min average when they were both in Spain for 9 years without penalties. Over 50 goals without penalties 3 times. Ronaldo, 0. Better goals/90 min in World Cup. So, in general play Messi was a better goalscorer, while Ronaldo was slightly better in penalties. Ronaldo is 2nd best but humans are emotional so you prefer not to admit it
