@@bangmon1000 Hi Bang. Good to talk with you again. Thank you for sending the links to Whitesnake/David Coverdale. I listened to them, plus a few other live videos on YT so I could get a feel for Coverdale's style and sound. Yes, I did say I didn't care for 80's hair bands, but I hope you know I was speaking in generalities - I'm sure there are some especially good ones - I am just not familiar with them. One thing I have learned from Chod's viewer/contributors is that I am wrong to be so judgmental. I have been exposed to a great deal of music I thought I would not like, but have change my mind about. I have told you before that I kinda stopped listening to commercial radio around 1977/78, so I have missed out on a lot of that era's music. I have heard some of Whitesnakes "hits", but am not really well versed in their catalog. I really liked "Slow and Easy" and probably would like some of the other album cuts . David has a beautiful voice, and he must have been the singer when I saw DP in concert, don't really remember as I liked Ian's vocals as well. It was different back then as we did not have MTV and I didn't really know the individual players that well, just liked the band. I also think David is very handsome, especially in the later videos when he is older - his face has a lot of character and his hair isn't so BIG (-: I just yesterday received a book from Amazon called "Smoke on the Water- the Deep Purple Story". Hopefully I will learn more about the individuals - DP is confusing because they had so many different musicians and varying styles. I LOVE reading the personal stories and backgrounds on these artists - recently was studying Tommy Bolin (a DP alumni who died tragically at 25), another very talented but troubled rock star. I am drawn to troubled artists as they are the most interesting and it fascinates me how they are often the most talented. Speaking of which, right now I am reading - for the 3rd time!- "All too Beautiful", my favorite Steve Marriott biography (there are 3 just about Steve + memoirs by Peter Frampton, Jerry Shirley, Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan) Talk about fascinating - Steve was an enigma, so much talent, but many demons also. As Peter says in his memoir "I wish Steve wasn't crazy, but then maybe he wouldn't have been so talented" Sad, but true. What are your thoughts? Also, which Small Faces song have you been listening to so much? Curious as they are my absolute favorite band (except perhaps Beatles). Sorry to take up so much space in the comments section. Probably annoying to others. I just love talking music and rock history. I have several friends I have met on YT that I talk with privately. If you ever wish to talk more, and feel comfortable with it, we can exchange email address. I don't do Facebook.

Wilburn since you like Jon Lord, I would recommend you to look up Deep Purple Speed King live Perihelion. The interchange between Steve Morse and Jon Lord and the improvisation will blow your mind. Not to mention Ian Paice's drum solo.

Sons of Anarchy? Good, then you should listen to Deep Purple playing "Highway Star" and "Space Truckin' ". Especially the later... Deep Purple has plenty, most people have heard the instantly identifiable riff of "Smoke on the Water", which is a classic.

Classical influences in solos of the guitar and the keyboards from Paganini, Scarlatti, Albinioni and the Bach family, however Purple evolve these classical themes even further. The guitar and all the instruments are played by people not by drum machines or automatic sound creation machine usually used in pop music.

Deep Purple, Burn a great classic DP song with all the DP sounds and dimensions. Rock, classical and blues all there. The next DP reaction should be the entire Machine Head album. That is top shelf rock in any list. For me it is Jon Lord who add that extra dimension to DP over other heavy rock bands. Also maybe it's time to introduce your better half to Yes. They redefine music in so many ways.

Dude, I seen them on the tour for this album and yeah, between Hughes and Cloverdale they both were head banging and with the long hair and the fog, it was frigging awesome. I think she'd like some of the other tunes off this album and the Stormbringer album. Alotta soul and kinda funky. The reason Blackmore left. Yeah. Peace

Thank you Chaud for introducing your wife to my all time favorite band. There was a little personal change in this album in case you didn't know. First there were technically two singers David Coverdale and Glen Hughes they at this point replaced Ian Gillian who did all the vocals Glen replaced Roger Glover on Bass And then of Course there is the one and only Ritchie Blackmore on guitar The late great Jon Lord on Keys and Organ. And my third all time favorite drummer Ian Paice

The live version from 1972 in California is the best version of this song I think. Glenn Hughes vocals there were incredible. I think some of the greatest live rock vocals ever. The man was wailing on bass and crushing it.
