Hello Multistrada V2S

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After 3 glorious years I've traded my Monster R for Ducati's Multistrada V2S.
This video explains the decision as well as my first impressions on the first ride out.

Great first ride/impressions. I bought a V2s a year ago after coming from a r1200gs as I was struggling with the weight. Never looked back. The Ducati is nimble, lightweight and great fun. Have done 7,500miles including a trip to Italy and it’s never missed a beat. I too bought from Ducati Notts & Curtis & the Team were fantastic. Look forward to your later videos/comments 👍 Ps the screen is adjustable and I find it ok in the middle setting for my 5’10” height

Good to see you back Neil and riding in an area very familiar to me on my 1200RT - bought a little after your own purchase and persuaded by your reviews. Nearly 5 years and 35,000 miles later (and temporarily added to with, now sold, 310R and 900XR machines) the RT continues to put a smile on my face with winter weather protection that remains I feel second to none. They still remember you at Wollaston, the latter location beginning shortly a huge refurbishment that will last at least a year but end up with a mezzanine floor and full canteen. A place of destination is promised...

Hi Kevin, long time no speak! Hope all's well. Now being a Ducati man haven't been to Wollastons for a few years. I loved the RT but it got a little big for me after the heart issue. Presume you've completed your IAM long since?

@@Back2TheBike Hi Neil, I had a couple of goes at RoSPA, quite interesting, but found their Sundays always coincided with my own ride outs. I'll try again in due course I'm sure. My RT must be 300 kg with all its bells and whistles but you know what they say..."it all disappears when you are moving!". One thing I've noticed compared to say my 900XR is that the sheer size of the machine gives you 'presence' - and to some degree respect. For other road users It's almost as if you are in a small car...

Thank you for the video Neil. I chuckled when you mentioned the mirrors - it was the first thing that struck me when I rode my V2S for the first time! Great view, very little vibration and one of the steps forward over the 950, I understand. Your experiences sound very much like my first impressions - I moved from a Honda CB500X, but also ride BMW RTs as a Blood Biker - so recognise the weight differences!! I am also 6' tall, and at first I thought the screen turbulence was a real problem, but I must admit I have grown more used to it and don't find it nearly as objectionable as I did - perhaps colder turbulence during the winter might spur me on to investigate a solution - we'll see - I will watch with interest what options are discussed here. Keep up the good work and enjoy your bike; I love mine 🙂

Hi Alan. Thank you for your bloodline service. Agree with your comment on rear vis. Theres definitely more turbulence than the Monsters clean air flow. Long term may cause tinnitus and does impact the mic in my lid too. Got a couple of ideas though.

Beautiful bike, good to see you back, I have followed all your transitions with interest being of a similar retired age. I don't think I can justify the V2 especially the 'S' so I am. looking at the standard used Multstrada 950. It might be a bit too tall for me at 5'10" but we will see when I can find one to sit on. I did the exact same thing last year, sold my Monster 1200s and pre ordered the Multistrada V2s Travel from my local Ducati dealer which I collected on March 2nd. I did about 2,800 miles from March 'till November (I don't ride through the winter) so am looking forward to getting it back out on the road soon. I agree with all you said about the V2s. I was starting to find the Monster a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours (I'm 62 now) but the V2s I've done a 7 hr trip and apart from fuel & food I didn't stop and only felt a little tired when i got home. A great bike which doesn't seem to get much press attention but it'll do for me !!

Ditto all of the above Ian! I've been modding mine over the winter. A phone mount (quadlock which utilises my old RAM mount) and flip screen to try to solve the buffeting issue (I'm 6') with the tall seat. This yet to be road tested. Stay in touch!

@@Back2TheBike Looking forward seeing what you add to it. I've been restrained on this bike with stuff I've added. So far only Evo-Tec rad, oil cooler & engine guards. Also fitted the Evo-Tec satnav mount so my Garmin xt sits above the clocks. I've also replaced the horn with a Denali sound bomb mini. I like the look of the Evo-Tec hand guards but that'll prob be it I think.

Good to see you back on here Neil. I was quite suprised to see you on a Multistrada V2S having been aware of your prior reasoning for choosing the Monster after the R1200RT. Did you look at anything from BMW...F900XR, F850GS or even R1250R/RS models ? I suspect ease trade in package may have factored also. Glad you like the bike. I test rode a Ducati Streertighter V2...superb bike on NSL roads but lacked acceptable, (to me) , smoothness in an urban role. Oh & fyi I passed. I.A.M. bike test this summer.

Congratulations and well done on your IAM! I'd ridden the Monster and MS 3 years ago (see the reviews on the channel) - remember, my key requirement now is weight (due to dodgy heart) and comfort. For that reason the BMWs are excluded - the 1250 is 265kg and I 've already owned the R1200RT when I came back to the bike. For me, the V2S is perfect - a jack of all trades but masters every one of them for my purposes. This particular machine came with a lot of goodies too, which I've blonged up a little! I got a great deal with Ducati Nottingham and superb service, but to be honest I'd already decided on the V2S.

Hi Bev. Tall seat. For me as 6' and 33" inside leg I can (just) flat foot. Skyhook is like riding a cushion of air even on sports (where it will stay). Defo the V2S IMHO for the extra goodies. More insights to come as I get to know her.
