Happen to me on a road trip in Utah. Narrow shoulder. And then nothing. Learn to swerve, stay calm and hold the line and always always every second have an escape route or plan
Coming up on one year of motorcycling and really appreciate advice from you and a few other creators. I have one piece of constructive advice as someone who works in graphic design. On some of your graphics you have a lot of type, try setting it in sentence-case with lowercase letters instead of all-caps. At least for the body copy. This will make it all much easier to read.
I just got in from a ride and damn near was a hair away from losing my left leg, I was riding to fast and came over a hill to a truck pulling out of a driveway with a boat trailer. Got good progressive braking momentarily locked up the rear with simultaneously swerving around on the right. Kept shiny side up and zero contact. My fault, be safe guys life is precious, I know I’ll be back to the PLAN method instead of being relaxed, was definitely in white stage.
That’s why I would get out and practice out in the parking lot. Learn that swerve.
In this situation he should have been riding to the right side of his lane. NOT the middle. It may not have made any difference, but it would have improved the passing vehicles chance of seeing the motorcycle. The oncoming vehicle was a truck towing a trailer. Vehicle behind it got to close to the trailer before passing. The driver of offending vehicle would have a better angle to see the on-coming motorcycle if the Bike had been to the far right side of his lane. Vehicles towing, Motor homes, big trucks, any big vehicle that blocks the forward view of the vehicle running too close behind the trailer and can't see around it, coming toward you, be on the right side of the lane (in America). You are closer to your escape path also. Inches can make a big difference.
What would his plan have been if he hadn't had that nice wide bike lane to the right of the highway?

I'm sharing this with my riding group! Yikes! Excellent swerve though.
