Essential Gear for New Motorcycle Riders Stay Safe on the Road - ATR 001

When it comes to motorcycle safety, protecting yourself should be a top priority. Wearing a quality helmet is crucial to safeguarding your head and reducing the risk of long-term disabilities or fatality in case of an accident. Sturdy non-slip gloves provide a secure grip and shield your hands from injuries. A durable, padded jacket shields your upper body, while protective boots keep your feet safe. Additionally, wearing protective pants guards your legs against abrasions and impact injuries. By investing in this gear and adopting a responsible attitude on the road, you significantly minimize the chances of severe injury as a new motorcycle rider.

Dan, as someone who spent 22 years as an "inner-city" fire-medic, I wanted to thank you for ALL your posts. Having ridden motorcycles both for pleasure and as a "freeway first response" unit since the late 60's, I can tell you that you offer GREAT info and reviews. I would wish everyone that is looking to buy their first motorcycle should take a few eeks to watch some of the "close-call" reviews you do on your DanDan channel. Thumbs up, man! “When I am called to duty, God wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age. Help me to embrace a little child before it’s too late or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.”

Great videos! I was a police chaplain and like you, I’ve seen too much, especially what happens to the unprotected body. I’ve also been a motorcyclist for many years and i armor and helmet up. Also, recently I discovered an airbag vest that fits comfortably and even looks good for only a hundred and thirty bucks. A lot of extra protection for upper body and neck.

My starter gear is as follows: Scorpion EXO-gt930 (can be either open face or closed face helmet, dual homologated with a locking clip) Icon riding flannel with full suite of armor (back, elbows, shoulders) Icon boots (reinforced sole, ankle support ect...) Five Kansas gloves (whole goat-skin leather, TPU knuckle, very comfy, very grippy, feels like second skin) pants are TBD... I have a pair of heavy-duty 10oz cotton work jeans I used when moving furniture, they are still in good condition but I want something armored.. probably scorpion covert pro?

Honest question... instead of being embarrassed about the DOT certification, who if anyone has addressed this with the DOT and the related US agencies to advocate for better certifications. It has to start somewhere, and I'm sorry but as a noob even without a bike it seems fairly negligent for the riding community to not push for higher standards unless they really don't care either. CINO ( care in name only) and NO it's not political, I can't stand white collar criminals or politicians but am a caregiver and think outside of the box. Being a noob, I wouldn't have any sway with any agencies like you or other well established channels. But it does make me wonder why nobody advocates for stricter testing.....
