Just switched to Gravity MP and couldn’t be any happier. The 295 unstrung static paired with the 22mm beam provides unmatched maneuverability, with such a user friendly head size/design. The 16/20 gives plenty of access to power and spin yet never as erratic as a Pure Aero/Pure Drive type racquet if you fail to get perfect form. Couldn’t be happier.

I have yet to hit a racquet that feels anything like the Gravity Pro does. The way it pockets the ball is such a crazy feeling. You REALLY feel the ball sink in to the string bed. It's a very interesting feeling. It's so unique.

Same experience as you, especially for its lack of put away power and defense. Switched to the 2020 Head 360+ Speed Pro (and not looking back!) and it definitely addressed those issues and for some reason, I found it was way more comfortable and I had less arm fatigue than both Gravity’s (Pro and Tour).

great job as always. Love the focus on HEAD racquets. The future is certainly looking brighter with the release of more flexible frames. Let's hope the upcoming Radical continues is part of that trend. Cheers from Japan.

Hi Andy, lately I have tested the Blade V7 and the Gravity Pro to find a successor for my DR98. To be honest, the Gravity is in my bag now. I completely disliked the Blade but find the Gravity very Solid and true. It dies what you Tell him.... More pop and cleaner feeling like the Yonex DR98. Nevertheless, next in the testing row will be the Völkl C10. Best wishes, thanks for your honest reviews. Andre

I can't totally agree with you on this. I switched from Speed MP to gravity pro as I needed a more headlight stick to generate more headspeed and for increased manoeuvrability at the net. Despite its higher weight and swing weight, it's a lot easier to really hit through the ball and get consistent depth. As a player with flatter strokes, I never managed to get the control I needed from the Speed MP. Backhand slices are sharper. Feel for touch volleys and dropshots is improved as well. The only stroke I play with a lot of spin is the serve, and the Gravity Pro delivers plenty of it. I wouldn't say that the Gravity Pro is the better racquet. but it fits my game way better than the Speed MP. Or maybe my technique isn't good enough to get the best out of the latter. (Strings: tried many on the Speed MP: mono, multi, hybrid... Best result came from Tecnifibre Triax at 55 lbs. Gravity Pro strung with Luxilon Alu Power Rough 125 at 53 lbs).

Would have liked to see on your play test video a few instances of what you mean about difficulty playing defense. Just not sure what you mean when you say that and it would make it easier for me to put those comments in context. I demo'd the Pro for a couple of matches and noted it doesn't help much if you don't get the racket out front but did not experience any inconsistencies on launch angle on full swings. I do swing fairly fast and when my imperfect form was good the stick responded very well and I had pinpoint accuracy, spin and power. Of course, I'm a aging middling player and don't pretend to know it all. I also play an older "custom" stick with a 49RA and am relatively happy with it but really like the additional swing weight of the Gravity Pro and 11.7-11.9 overall weight strung. Appreciate your depth of knowledge. Will definitely play the Speed Pro and have another go with the Gravity Pro before making a switch, if any. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the review. I've just playtested one month ago the Gravity MP (more than 10+ of play) and loved her and its 16x20 string pattern. It is a very versatile, comfortable and quite control oriented racquet. I could switch easily to this stick (I'm a 3.5 - 4.0 player). Downsides I would say the balance slightly toward the head but still manoeuvrable cause it stays light but I could feel some vibration particularly towards the top ended part of the hoop. I've got honeymoon but struggled a bit in tournament match with it, as you said, buttery feel and could lack sometimes some quick response I have with slightly firmer stick which helps me having a bit more pop and accelerate the game and be more offensive when I would like to. I've just received the new Head Speed MP 360+ and will try it next week, see how it compares to the Gravity MP. Note: my specs with the Speed MP are 299g unstrung and 326mm balance (this last one seems a bit out of specs). Well, let's see.

@@queiroloco hi, I've finally ended up with the Speed MP. Easier to play, more power than the Gravity, you keep comfort but you loose some precision. The Gravity MP is a more control oriented racquet whereas the Speed MP is more versatile but you still have good control (both are quite flexible racquet). I play better with the Speed. It's more stable, and help me better when defending. I can mix between attack and defense easily. Now I'm trying the new Artengo 990 Power Pro (Kasatkina new racquet) and it's nice also. Firmer stick but very easy to play, versatile, stable, comfortable, spin friendly and easy power (not overpowered). My two handed backhand love it and I can put lot of spin with my forehand. But I loose some control and feeling compared to my Speed MP. I'm still play testing to compare and see which one I would choose for the next season 👍. Now I've played more than one year with the Speed with good results. It's a good overall racquet :-)

Gravity Tour owner myself, and I did demo the Pro (it was just too much heft for me). So first thing's first, quality control. The Pro and the Tour are close enough that they overlap each other. The store I purchased mine from had an RDC. The Pro they had clocked 311 unstrung. They had 3 Tours, clocking in at 297, 299 and 312 (YES, 312). So you were actually lucky with your specs. I ended up buying a pair of tours at 303g/320mm/297 SW (which plays amazing) and the other one at 305g/325mm/299SW which I thought was close enough. To my surprise, they don't play all that similarly.. the latter feels noticeably more headheavy and sluggish.

Excellent review and great that you took the time to play with both through several sessions of practice and matchplay before coming to your usual well thought out conclusions. That’s one awfully off spec Gravity Pro, yet you got on fine with the weight and SW, which says you like good heft in your sticks! Agree that the Pro has a lower launch angle vs the Tour as expected. But for my swing, I much preferred the higher launch angle on the Tour where I could use a swing path natural to me to get the launch angle I normally prefer. Using the Pro, I found myself having to make a slightly higher incline on my stroke which was against my natural path, so it really wasn’t for me. As always, best to play test frames before several sessions before deciding on a long term relationship! I’ve never had much problem getting rackets sold onward on eBay after playtesting and deciding no-go.

Great review. I've been playing with both Gravity Pro and Tour - same strings and tension as you too. Had exactly the same experience as you. My man issues are lack of consistency with both and struggle to get the ball deep with the Tour. You probably won't see this, but if you do, I'd love your opinion on this - I'm thinking of switching to the Yonnex VCORE Pro 97HD. I've seen your review on that too. Since we had very similar experiences, I'd love your opinion. How would you compare them? No issues with consistency and depth with HD97? Was it much heavier/more demanding to swing?

3:49 If the racquet is supplied directly from Head strung, it will come with Head Hawk Touch 1.25. If comes with Lynx or some other string, that suggests it was strung by the retailer or someone other than Head. Both these racquets play at their best at a lower tension.

Thanks Andy, another solid review.✌ I found the pro to be a surprisingly powerful frame. Perhaps that was the difference between using 100sq" c/w my usual 97 or 98. I thought it rock solid on volleys, one of the better frames I've used for that aspect of the game. On groundies I enjoyed the overall feel of the frame, however it did feel a bit clunky to swing in extended drills - like cross court forehands etc. As it turned out my demo came in at a much higher SW than the advertised specs & that alone was a dealbreaker. Perhaps if I got one closer to advertised specs I may have thought differently. Mine also came newly strung with Solinco Tour Bite @ 56lbs. I don't mind Tour Bite, but I'd have strung it around 50lbs with that string. So, for the reasons as above, it didn't really work out for me, but I can totally understand the reasons by those who rate this frame highly. I do think it is considerably more powerful than say the new prestige mp & consequently they both can exist meeting the needs of different players. However, I'd suggest that the gravity would appeal to a wider range of players, so long as the SW was closer to spec. Cheers 🎾🎾🎾

You should note that the Pro and Tour are 18x20 in name only, with a string spacing essentially identical to a Prestige Pro (16x19). I think the idea was to create a large, relatively spin-friendly string bed with fairly consistent spacing across the face, using the 100 sq. in. and wider hoop for extra stability. Looking at it that way I think Head has succeeded. The design is pretty nearly perfect for a decent but not great player looking to put more variety into his game while retaining the safety margin and forgiveness of a 100 sq. in. face. Unfortunately Head's QC makes it a crap-shoot as to what you will actually receive as far as SW. That said, given a relatively on-spec Tour (which I own), it's pretty easy to customize that "easy depth and spin" you desired (a few grams at 12 o’clock plus leather and thin poly) without ending up with a too-heavy racquet. The Pro (which I also own) has given me much more difficulty as it's out of the box SW was over 340. As much as I would like to love that racquet--I prefer it's narrower beam and smooth surfaces--it's too-high SW puts it out of reach (although I may try super-lightweight strings to lose a couple of SW points...). As to your regret about not trying the MP, I don't see why you would expect better consistency from a looser string pattern in a lighter racquet. My 2¢.

alpenglo many thanks for comments - all noted and very interesting. Take your point about the MP - indeed, lead on the tour could add the depth that I felt it missed. I’m a big fan of 16x20’s so wonder what that could be like with some lead, curiosity and just wonder whether that would fit better for me. Overall the line is not switchable for me however, although have been very pleased to hit with them. Cheers

The 18x20 string pattern in 100 inch head size Gravity Tour is just fine. Same tightness in the sweetspot area as my Radical Pros. And with a 1.20 shaped poly spin was better than ok. I tail weighted my Tour quite a bit to get a balance of 31.5. Feel, power, spin and control all good for me BUT the main issue that made me move on was the sluggishness and poor manouverability esp. up at net and in quick exchanges. Could have asked for more pop and spin at serve too but the great control compensated that aspect.

@@joakimharlin9030 I’m used to a 98 head size prestige so moving to 100 made such a difference with the larger sweet spot. Should’ve done it much sooner. Don’t really hit with as I coach so I push more so can’t really decide if I like the racket or not but head size has definitely helped.

Second, about the racquets themselves.. I did go through a honeymoon period and now I don't love them that much after 6 months. What I still love: the buttery feel on impact, very large sweetspot, is forgiving of offcenter shots What I can't get used to: the Head grip shape, and lack of maneuverability, and I'm finding that the excessive flex on the hoop and ends up putting more stress on my upper arm than I'd like. The racquet is sluggish when you really need to defend or switch from FH to BH quickly (or have slow feet like I do), and it's also hard to pick up very low shots. I tried adding 10g to the buttcap and to my surprise that really didn't do much to help. Giving it a try with Hyper-G 1.15mm, and while this does wonders to spin and depth, the launch out of the string bed became very unpredictable. The strings bite the ball really hard and it's tough to know where it's going. Hitting the roughly same ball twice gives me different results. I really question if I shouldn't have simply gone for the MP and added weight to the handle. I'm starting to get over that regret though, because for some reason adding 10g to the handle of one of the Tours really didn't change much of the way it played. I'm having a hard time figuring out why. It almost made it worse, like I was stripping it of its characteristics, making it too HL when it was built to play more headheavy. Maybe the same would've happened to the MP. Have you ever felt that? In the meantime I've picked up a pair of DR98s which I'm really liking. They super maneuverable and whippy and have the right heft. The SW on them is 295 & 297, so much like the Gravity except it feels much easier to swing around. Also, the hoop is a lot stiffer. What I'm not liking is that it's actually a little harsh on the arm when you don't hit the ball right. When I ask my hitting partner, he says my shots with the Gravity (and Hyper-G 1.15mm) are a lot tougher to fight back against, because it has more depth and a ton of spin. I was also hitting way more winners with the Gravity. However, and terms of match results the Yonex was WAY superior because I was simply missing less shots. He said it was a more comfortable shot for him to return, but the ball always bounced back. Hope this can add to your review (and maybe lead you to suggest some other nice sticks for me to try?)

Hi there, really useful comments thank you. In line with what I expect people to find so very interesting. If you like the DR’s then it is worth testing the 2020 Ezone. It’s closer to it than the Ezone before it and with some customisation can play similar. Have you hit with the V7 blades? I suspect you might enjoy them, worth testing the 16x19 and 18x20. They have Gravity like feel but more control and precision. I have not experimented with customising the tour, but would guess that some lead up high would be the trick to add the depth of shot that I was missing with it. A lot of people love the DR98’s - special sticks, have fun with them 👍

Have a look on my channel or type in "Hampton Gavla Tennis" in the KZread search box. Where in the UK are you based? Very subjective review. If ultimate control is your thing, why buy a 100sq" racquet?? The whole point of this racquet is the huge sweetspot, usability and comfort whilst retaining more control that your typical 100sq" tweener style racquet. It's for the PT2.0 brigade who find a 95sq" or 98sq" 18x20 too much hard work.
