This piece pulls you from sorrow, sadness, grief, deep emotions that portray desolation in one's most trying times. It helped me heal from a beloved's loss. I would like to hear this song as my final welfare before I go to heaven. Peace to all of you who were touched by this scintillating piece of music.

But, it's that complete drop into silence for those brief seconds which then opens back into a soft lament which brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to this piece. A Happy and Peaceful 2024 to all the world!
The fact that he doesn’t just play the music He becomes the music It’s so beautiful He’s gifted
In the early months of my raw grief after losing my husband , I was able to feel the emotions from a deep well inside me ,rising up and being set free when I heard Adagio. Beautiful music does indeed touch the soul . This piece did it every time. It helped me express what could not be put into words and helped heal me . Thank you is not a strong enough word x

Hauser: I don't understand how you can play such a variety of different pieces so flawlessly. I guess that is what professional musicians have to do, but you are in another class entirely. It's beyond passion; you are one with the cello and I can feel your heart beating in every performance. Thank you!

The beauty of the cello and Hauser’s moving rendition of this timeless masterpiece… Loved it ✨🩷✨
I listened to this song many, many years ago, when I was a child, in the story on vinyl of the Happy Prince, when he gave his gold leaves to the poor in the city... then life took me to places and moments where, as a soldier I wouldn't have wanted to live or be... I had this song on my walkman, then I listened to it in my mind while fix-aid my wounded core mates... today I live with the memory that my life wasthe right one...I have two children and four grandchildren...I think I've done enough...I'm tired...I want to sleep and dream that it's quiet...like in this piece...for the memory of those who are no more...
That was so hauntingly beautiful. He seems to be totally unaware of his surroundings but at one with his music. I would say that he is the best cellist in the world and I never get tired of listening to his music.

I have heard it said that the function of an artist is to open the hearts of those who cannot do it for themselves. When the heart opens, love arises, melting all obstacles; then arises a profound stillness and a connection with the very source of our being which is sacred. Thank you, Stefan Hauser, for this experience.

This piece is helping me grieve the recent deaths of my mother and aunt. I feel everything when I listen to it. Tension, pain, disbelief, anger, loss, lost, sometimes confused but also loved. After this piece climaxes, I sense resolve. I'm not 100% there yet, but I am doing better.

My comment from 2 years ago, still in effect 😪💔
I think Samuel Barber's Adagio expresses the sadness of the 20th century that we humans share. And I believed it was an unhelpful sadness that would never be purified. But Hauser's performance purifies that sadness. It was a great surprise to me and deeply moved. Hauser sublimated his sorrow into a cleansed prayer. And I certainly saw the salvation of the soul beyond that sound. 感動して泣いたよ。ありがとう!

STJEPAN'S MUSIC IS SO EXCEPTIONAL MY HEART FLUTTERS AND ARMS HAVE GOOSE BUMPS...MY VOCABULARY CAN'T FIND A PROPER WORD TO HIS EXCELLENT PLAYING. UNEARTHLY
Every emotion felt by a human heart is felt and played by Maestro Stjephan Hauser and the greatest musicians that elevates one's heart and soul and sets one free to a world of bliss and happiness So beautiful Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤😊I 😊🙏
The saddest classical music composed by a 26 years old American prodigy Samuel Barber while studying in Italy in 1936. I always wondered, was he homesick, depressed or simply missing his love? Sure he created a beautiful hymn of mourning and grieving. It's played around the world at funerals, memorials, annoncements of death and tragedy.

This version with the cello leading is beautiful... I had Adagio for strings playing at my husband's funeral, almost 3 months ago... As he was being buried... He loved this song, it is our families' favorite strings piece... So incredibly moving... It is so very hard to hear it now, after he is gone, and it transports me back to that time and place.

So sorry for your loss. It is a haunting piece of music.
First time listening. Breath of beauty.
Honestly, how anyone can play this song without bursting into tears is a testament ....
Man, this actually made me cry.
With such passion, love, and absolute conviction, Hauser does not play an instrument known to us as the cello... they ARE the instrument. When someone bares their soul like this, not a word needs to be spoken. No way to know what was on their mind in this performance, yet... there are glimpses in breathing, in softened glances to the side, how the cello is held. The wood itself tells a story, edges rough instead of net-new from the workbench. Life itself has left its mark. Simply incredible, and unbelievable. Not a word more can be written; it would be ineffective to do so.

Hauntingly beautiful, Hauser is at one with his instrument and the best cellist I've ever heard and I'm 60 now. This is better than the orchestral version, a performance for the history books. It's become clear to me that Western culture will survive in the east. Thank you, never stop playing.

Agree. It's dead in the West, thriving in E. Europe and E. Asia. Witness S. Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Even the "Communist Bloc" countries of Asia are bringing more to Western Classical music than W. Europe and the Americas. Shame on us.
