    Awesome video Justin!!! Congratulations on the huge spawns ! Unfortunately I'm down to two GBRS. But I'm now getting the 260ltr ram tank up and running to hopefully to breed some different rams. Keep up the amazing work!

    Good luck! Let me know how you go with everything. It sounds like your setup is going to be pretty extensive. I am also looking at trying to eventually get as many different types of rams going at once:)

    Thankyou for doing these videos they are great I have been breeding and keeping fish for a long time but I have not done rams yet. I want to get some good Aussie bred rams and I got my angels from Nick so I will be keeping an eye on what you guys are doing! I don't have a youtube or a website yet I am technically challenged haha.

    Microworms. I have been experimenting with a method you get a deep jar, have some fine coffee filter mesh on the lid for ventilation and fill the jar half way to 3 quarters full with fluffy cooked white rice. Dont put it in wet I did that the first time and it got mould, which has not damaged the culture but it is not ideal. But I put the yeast on top and ive let it go and it took a while to get going because I didnt have many worms to start it and I did a few things wrong but now they have spread through all of the rice top to bottom and the culture does not stink. It has a little smell from the mould but I think in time that will go away. I am told this method can last indeffinately if you just add some yeast each week or so without the bad smell and without having to redo it. So maybe try it!

    Amazing video! Watched it in sections so it could last longer. I feel like sections of our setups are alike as I have containers, duckweed and ambulia in my 4ft.my setup it all coming together. So is urs it seems. Pretty cool and funny that I also have fish and a rainbow lorikeet. He is only a few years old but very talkative aswell. He is at my grandparents aswell as my pond which is overstocked with my neigherbours 20 year old massive goldfish, he gave me due to his pond liner leaking after so long. Love the vids. Ur doing great, keep it up 😃

    @@JustinsFishRoom I’m a breeder myself brother, just calming it down at the moment though. More focusing on the Aquascaping, been doing that for people, Scape the tank, maintain it for them. On the breeding side of things, I’ll probably start doing some by Christmas, I’ve got my own few strains of fish that have been bred in my waters. Here’s a question for you though lad, how much work do you help the other guy with? And have you got plans to expand your own fish room like he did. Or are you in on that with him? 👊🏼

    Yeah! This particular pair spawn on leaves. I think it is actually his female's preference as she begins to clean leaves just before she spawns:)

    Good day Justen keep up the good work the rams in Europe are very poor can’t keep them a live I have a pair of GBRs at the minute but the mail doesn’t want to pair with the female any tips I can do they are in a community tank with a lot of small fish but I have a 55lt hospital tank would it be better to put them on there own in the 55 Keep up the good work David from Northern Ireland

  • @JustinsFishRoom

    Hi there, David! Nice to hear from you. I would suggest sitting down and seeing which individual is the one that is causing the issue. I would then get another ram of the same gender as the 'trouble maker' to make it jealous and you will see that it will begin to calm down and want to breed. You can also try the smaller aquarium but I personally don't see why they wouldn't breed in a larger aquarium. I hope this helped:)

    Justin, I heard from a Florida breeder that it's not good for Rams to constantly be spawning. Is this true? He said spawning takes a lot out of a fish and they won't live as long.

  • @JustinsFishRoom

    @JustinsFishRoom

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi there Michael. I can't say this is true from my experience, my friend. You have to remember that in the wild there is a very defined rainy and dry season and most rams will only breed and live within the one to two year period. My original GBR pair lived for about 4 years and grew to be massive - my original male is still going strong. So I would say this is false based off my experience as my OG pair bred every week for practically their whole lives and still managed to live a happy and healthy life. I think this would be true if you weren't feeding high quality foods so that the female can recover and get all the nutrients that were depleted from breeding:)
