One of my fondest memories as a kid is to play this with my mom back in the early 2000s. This is the only game she'd play with me, and to this day I sometimes still think about those simpler times

I was adopted and raised entirely by my grandparents, my grandpa's 63, grew up without games and never got into them, but would play 1080 Avalanche and Mario Party 4 w me on the gamecube and was pretty good at both good times, he's a blessing to the planet and I love him dearly for so many great memories he's given and still gives me. shoutout early 2000s games, they went hard

My mum used to play this with me too man. She would type in the cheat code for super jump because I couldn’t type fast enough. Hope you cherish those memories bro!
Was really fun to see you practice this and get better quickly. Hope you enjoyed running the game and thank you for raising some awareness that this series exists and is even quite fun to speedrun!
As someone who had a lot of Harry Potter games as a child, I recall the 2nd and 3rd movies' games on PC being the best.
@sk8rdman

I played the 1st on PC, and the 2nd and 3rd on PS2, and I agree. I'd say the 2nd was the best, and they went downhill from there. After the third the games really became based much more on the movies than on the books, and suffered because of it. The covers really reflect that.

@@sk8rdman The PC version of HP2 is a completely different game. The games didn't become universal across all platforms until HP4. Though I agree. the 2nd game on PS2 is easily the best one of all of them, but the 5th game is so charming

@@TheOnlyBootlegger I quit buying the games after the 4th, and I even got rid of the 3rd and 4th eventually, which I almost never do with old games. I might have to see about trying to find the 2nd game for PC online, because I'd like to play it. I got it for Christmas the year it came out, but our computer wasn't able to run it at the time. Later by the time we got a better computer, my sisters had thrown away the box that had the activation code, so I was never able to install it. I only got to play it later on PS2 after I borrowed it from a friend. After watching this video, I'm tempted to go find the first game again too. So much nostalgia.
I didn't have a memory card while playing this game, so the second half of the run is entirely new to me LMAO
This was the first game I ever got 100% completion in, and holy Christ I do not remember any of these levels
It blows my mind that someone managed to find Fire Seed skip, that's so complicated.

I don't understand how speed run tricks like that are discovered, they require so much specific work. Unless they're somehow identifiable via code, I just don't get it
@boccobadz
Жыл бұрын
@@wpw8570 Basically you're trying to break game and after finding such bug you're trying if it's exploitable or not. After that you're practicing it until you're consistent and/or frame perfect. That's speedrunning in a nut shell.
@wpw8570
Жыл бұрын
@@boccobadz I get that, but it's how the actually glitches are found, like the Fire Seed trick. They're not on the path, there's nothing indicating them at all. It can't be an accident due to how much needs to be done.
@boccobadz
Жыл бұрын
@@wpw8570 Imo most of them are found either by actively looking for them (so trying to break the game) or exactly by accident. Just look at Fancy Pants speedruns and how they evolved over the years (with some tricks only possible with a changed resolution, etc).

Love to see it. Without getting too much in your own head and resetting the run you were still able to PB the final run of the night and get some good practice for swag strats, skips, and frame buffering done. Nice run, gg.

Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!
I see that your 26th place not bad, there are some really dedicated harry potter runners out there, there's a few people who did a speedrun of all 23 mainline harry potter games in 1 go, which is insane, mad competition in harry potter games.
2:25 I remember doing this minigame a few years ago with my friends. We were drunk as fuck and tried and gave it our best shot. Holy shit this was the most impossible to handle challenge LMFAO , we managed to get like 3 rings in 20 minutes

Nice to see some love for this game! Great work with the speed run too!
Fond memories. I used to love/hate that game lmao, the one time I got to the last fight as a kid, my savegame corrupted before I could beat him.
Great video, thanks for bringing attention to our community and speedgames!
I love speedrunning the harry potter games, I've speedran the entire 1 through 8 series, the regular versions and the Lego ones as well.
"NINTENDO !" "NINTENDO !" "NINTENDO !" You can't unhear it.
So you're saying Quidditch is so cursed that playing it rewrites reality? Actually, that's kind of on-brand for Hogwarts.
I ran into a goof with the game when I was a kid. I got to the first Quidditch Round, got everyone hyping Harry up... then Hagrid saying "it's time, m'dragon eggs hatching, need stuff from Diagon Alley, come with me" I have no idea what I did to do that but it caught me WAY off guard as a kid.
As I was watching I was saying “PLEASE DONT BEAT 1:19xx!” Cuz that’s my record lol glad you are running this though! :) much love
Man this was my childhood. I couldn't get past that troll section it was to scary for 5 year old me.
Really cool video and very informative, hope you enjoyed running this game!
Really cool video!! filled me with nostalgia.
I recommend checking out HP2 PC categories as well. HP3 for carpe movement too maybe. I might be biased towards HP2 PC, since that was the game from my childhood, but I prefer it over HP1/HP3 even though those were games from my childhood too. :) The community is insane as well by the way. Full Series 100% exists and has been done for example. Take a look! ;)

Fun Fact about this game: The music was composed by Jeremy Soule, who also composed the music for the Elder Scrolls series. Furthermore, this game came out before any of the movies were made, so you could say this game's soundtrack contained the original Harry Potter theme.

Unless they knew who all the actors were going to be before the movies were made as well, then there’s literally no way that possible. All of the characters are meant to look like the actor counterparts so the movie must have been in production.

The first 3 games were such a huge part of my childhood
Played that game so much as a kid its such a throwback to see this
Harry casts spells in the book, a few in class and one in the forest
in the pc game u have to learn spells by tracing ur mouse around some shapes and its actually pretty tought to get a perfect
I'll never stop getting you and Eazyspeezy mixed up
2:05 Oh my god I remember finding out about this trick by myself when I played this game over and over again back then when I was a dumb little kid, good times
"världsmästerskapen 1" takes back memories
Oh my fuccccccking god dude. 7:00 in the video, I could never figure out how I skipped part of the game until now. That quiddich makes so much sense.
I still remember chamber of secrets and quidditch world cup for the game cube, as well as prisoner of Azkaban on Gameboy advance.
Will never forget the gba game. First time I played a game as a kid where the game had certain stuff randomized between playthroughs

The Harry Potter Quidditch game was rlly fun!
"so there a five different versions of this game" me getting immediat Flandrew flashbacks. Oh no...not again...
Ill prob try the game myself aswell, but i'll enable in Duckstation the feature that fixes the PS1's flickery/glitchy integer based geometry (PGXP), cause sometimes the flicker is just too much. (Might break these wall clips)
I tried myself with my knowledge of the game and seen a few speedruns and I got a time of 1:50:49.27. A slow voldermort, chess, bad malfoy crackers fight, no fire seed skip and no sloth brain quick trick which cost me big time
I forgot about the second half of this game. I spent most of my time just running around the castle lol I had this one for PS1 and the 2nd one for GameCube. Great games
im the guy that invented the last skip the one of the armors, people use that spamming start strat, but actually it is very easy if you know the glitch better: all you need to do is place yourself perpendicular to the potion ahead of you in the room, harry's head should cover the potion and just press forward button. it saves time and epilepsy
@ToreLehmann
Жыл бұрын
Can confirm! The skip was called "clody skip" ever since! :) - I found the pause-buffer setup together with StarlightSims at ESA 2019. It is slower and only meant for use if you're too nervous about losing a good run to clody skip!
I loved the first three HP games on Gamecube. It's a shame they went away from the Zelda style starting with the 4th game though.
Only games I had on my PS2 as a kid for a long time was the PlayStation version of this, legend of dragoon, and ff8. Didn't even have a memory card for months
The fact that playing the game in a completely intended way by just doing minigames from the main menu results in a sequence break is maddening. Did they just altogether not playtest Quidditch?
bro i played one of these harry potter games on game boy advance and I SWEAR there was an area you CANNOT advance in. I even restarted all the way from the beginning of the game and still got stuck!
It's always good to see one of the... let's say better... parts of your childhood seeing some love. Apart from the peacock. That part can stay a part of history.
Wow I didnt knew the cover for the book was diffrent in some countries. Funny to mention that one we had in Poland was sorcerer one but the title was philosopher Stone
At this point I'm absolutely certain I'm living in a simulation. There's no way that these skips were discovered by real, organic humans. You're all AI and I'm just in the middle of some weird experiment and I'm not sure why yet.
I played this on my old pc as a kid and these broom missions were the worst. I think I never accomplished the final boss level.
this game is weird b/c after you beat it you can wander around the castle but everything and everyone is gone
Fantastic highlights. Love this kind of content, I get to learn how the run works AND follow along a quality run. :p
This dude should speedrun superman 64 since he loves flying through rings 💀
12:39 YOU CAN SEE ME IN THE CHAT LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Chamber of secrets on PS2 was awesome. I played that alot when I was a kid. Pretty sure the Xbox and GameCube versions don't have the grounds to explore like they do on PS2.
"The platforming is really unique-" Every Zelda game prior to BOTW would like a word my guy
0:30 The only HP game I ever played was the Chamber of Secrets one on Gamecube. It was alright, a bit wonky but that's probably me comparing games now to then, I don't remember ever complaining as a kid.
I remember having this on PC, and maaaaaaan...trying to do the spell lessons (trace a glowing shape) with a trackball mouse SUCKED.
Oh no, it's so cursed that PS1 had no perspective interpolation.
I played this when I was very young. I got my PS1 from my uncle, and I didn't get a memory card, so I didn't know what saving was. Meaning I would start from the begining everytime I played it
How tf do people find these exploits that require FRAME PERFECT inputs? Like.. how?
I played Sorcerers Stone on PS1 as a kid, but the disc I got used and it had a scratch so it never loaded after completing the Draco bomb fight. Much later on PC I played Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Halfblood Prince. CoS (HP2) is the one I remember most fondly. The exploration, secrets and music were simply amazing at the time. Truly enchanting. PoA (HP3) is good too, feels more modern and refined, but it does lose a bit of the charme of HP2. HbP had the most true-to-films castle exploration, but wasn't as charming anymore.
i remember playing games for years 1 to 3 but only year 1 did i play more than 1 version, gbc and pc.

i did own year one for ps1 i just never played it, still own it stored away in a drawer.
"He took ten seconds to walk away, and not once did he break eye contact." PS1 Hagrid is built different.
2:58 Its Levios-Augh!
One thing I noticed, like, I'm sure you checked the route which has me mad confused, but during the peacock feather hunt, you can smash those white boxes to get invisibility cloaks and get on top of the peacock easy as hell. Why don't you do this??
U can skip the hallway fight by running sideways against the door get hit The running animation gets stopped and triggers the door opening animation Bāām u outside
God, I remember playing a ton of these on the PS2 and the wii and my god were they bad.
In germany its called "Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen" translatse into "stone of the wise ones"
The Quidditch game is really fun imo theres not alot to do but its fun
Former HP2 PS2 (emulator version) runner here. Got the WR and found a major skip that unfortunately made Any% pretty dull. The other early HP games are pretty neat to run, glad to see them get some spotlight.
19:09 Goblet of Fire is the best Harry Potter movie and it isn't even close imo. Prisoner of Azkaban is fire. But idk, I think it's the whole Tri Wizard Cup for me and it all goes wrong at the end and ends up with Cedric dying and what happens with Voldemort. And then the fact the whole time that one professor was actually trapped in a box and it was a guy using Pollyjuice Potion.
In the first movie I think he successfully casts Wingardium Leviosa?
It would be cool if you told us what place you made at the end of these vids. I could look it up myself, of course, but that'd be kinda anticlimactic. Also, I'm a lazy bastard :)

I swear I didn't have to get it the first time and just presumed the game had multiple paths. Maybe I am just miss remembering or maybe it was a dirty disc or something.

I played this game not too long ago, and I can definetly that it's an actually good game. Not amazing of course, but the game is short and easy and the presentation is quite decent, from the music to the graphics (aside from the character models lol) It's a solid 7.5/10
@uamdbro

@@ElWaKa69 Different strokes. To me it's a 5/10 game at absolute best. It's just a minigame collection set in an almost completely empty castle, too short, very linear, and kind of requires you to have already read the book/seen the movie to know what's going on because the actual exposition/story in the game is very poor. I guess the music and graphics aren't terrible for a PS1 game though.
