and they absolutly will protect,when my daughter was 6 she was out side in the yard playing,wehn a young man jumped my fence in a hurry(on the otherside is a bus stop and otherwise you have to walk around all the houses in our street to get there)....lets just say he wont do that anymore,nerver seen our milly(nufy) that angry and never have i again, im shure that if the young man hadnt made the jump of his lifetime back to from where he came from he would without a doubt ended in the icu. so if you can bear with the slobbering and endless brushing and brushing and brushing,they are probably the greatest family dogs ever

The floppy tongue really sells it, he's everyone's best friend.

I had to explain to the neighbor hood kids that "chase" is a dog's favorite game; he's not coming after you to gobble you up, he just thinks you're playing with him when you run away.

Last year, a teacher brought her huge Newfoundland to the school. He was like a large black cloud of darkness. Everywhere the dog went, he attracted so much attention. He was so sweet and gentle. Despite he could easily immobilize anyone just by sitting on them. Course, there’s that whole thing about big dogs thinking their lap dogs.

RIP HARRY :( Newfoundlands, sadly, are very short-lived dogs (usually 7-10 years) so Harry has almost certainly crossed the rainbow bridge based on the upload date. RIP big boy.

@@ILUVyu0tub3 i love them but pure breeds usually have a shorter lifespan compared to the mixed. also they tend to go to the vet more. my dog was sort of a lab-boxer mix, he lived up to 15 years, when he just went letargic and died in his sleep. he never got sick

This is an example of what's called Convergent Evolution. When two completely different species of animals evolves similar traits and features and in this case Harry the adorable doggo has evolved into having a large fatty and furry body like that of a bear to keep warm from the harsh cold environment he lives in. And even though humanity may had a part in affecting his evolutionary line that can still lead to his DNA somewhat copying to that of bears.

I must admit I would never have a Newfoundland dog due to my age,but I love them. Even though they're massive, I feel they have gentle souls. :)

neighbor has one, got a hug from it once when i parked my car and where picking up my takeaway and i hear woman yell " IM SORRY IM SORRY HE DOES NOT BITE " and turned around and i was squished against my car by this huge smiling dog :D the neighbor came really quick and took the dog off me, and she was apologizing profusely, the dog really behaves really well but cant resist mcdonalds cheeseburgers, which i had in the bag. The dog was this huge for ever happy looking teddy bear ^^ so i gave one of my burgers for the dog, and now a days pet him every time we see each other ^^

Harry is stunningly beautiful!

I loved your patience with the kids without being too severe with the dog. Shows that you thought him while also trusting him.

They’re such good dogs. I had a friend who had two of them. Every once in a while they would try to “rescue” people who were just swimming and didn’t need help. They weren’t trained rescue dogs, it’s just a really strong instinct. My friend would just yell “ let him rescue you if you don’t mind” and the Newfie would just very gently pull them by their arm toward shore.

When there's a newfoundland next to a body of water that kids swim into, there's no need for adult supervison, these kids will never drown when there's one of these angels watching them

When I go out for a walk with my German Mastiff (great dane) I always get asked by people, expecially with kids, if my dog bites. I tell them that he is a good dog but only bites bad kids, those who don't do their homework or don't listen to the parents. It always makes them laugh, try it. One day a toddler said "I'm a good kid please don't bite me" with such a innocent voice that made crack 🤣😜

'Calm down Harry.' If he was more calm he'd be lying down, asleep. This gave me flashbacks to playing on our street after a good snowfall with all the neighborhood kids taking turns getting pulled by our Tara. Aside from swimming in summer, she loved snowplay best.

Newfoundlands the definition of gentle giants the LOVE people. This breed is truly a gift.

My dog is big and fluffy and gets the same reaction from kids, she’s very overwhelming friendly (does not jump, just cuddles into you), I always get sad when she goes up to children to rub up against and they get scared , like they don’t know they missing out on the cuddling of a lifetime!!! My dog definitely feels for Harry in this vid

Probably since Harry could actually knock them over even if he just ran normally, and they're on ice, the kids might slip. Jesus, have you even considered that those are kids and that's a dog twice their size and weight?

Newfoundland Dog....instinctively gentle life savers.....but huge and big eaters...:).

I really wanted to get a newfoundland at one time, then I found myself reading advice from newfie owners describing the best way "to get drool off the ceiling." Decided I just wasn't up to that!

I used to have a Leonberger. Pretty similar to Harry. These types of dogs are very noble and gentle.

I pet a newfie named Maggie who was a rapid licker for a big dog. She had a little white on her. I met her when she was hardly a year old, but she was a big puppy that hadn't reached full growth yet.
