Harry Higgs' No-Nonsense Approach to Putting | TaylorMade Golf

Спорт

Team TaylorMade's Harry Higgs has a few simple drills he does before competing on the PGA Tour. After he checks his starting line with a simple gate drill, he lets his instincts and skill take over and relies on his feel to get the ball into the hole with the all-new Spider EX putter.

Harry is the man. Not many tour pros can explain concepts as clearly and concisely. Seems like a great bloke to boot.

I think most tour pros could explain golf concepts clearly and concisely... Being clear and concise comes with understanding and I'd say they've all got a good understanding of what they're doing and how to keep it simple. Definitely a great bloke though 👍🏼

@@mattj5729 Idk, I feel like a lot of golfers explain their strokes with a level of sophistication that I can not understand. When Tiger says "take spin off that shot," I literally have no idea how to do that. But if he said to choke up a bit, put the ball a bit back in your stance, close the face slightly, and put a bit more weight on the front foot, then I could probably hit exactly the shot he is describing. But instead, like most pros, he says what other pros understand. Some pros = bros and let us normies know how to play decent shots and that's awesome! Here's the example of not great advice for a shitty player like myself in case you're wondering: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aa6M1KaPgs2ZlbA.html

@@123jaymatt To be honest, most of us TaylorMade viewers really like Chris Trott. I love the dude, he is a great host for any golf video. He clearly understands golf at a pretty deep level. The issue is not with him, it's with TM requiring a spokesperson like him to constantly ask obviously scripted and out of place questions, which you see on a lot of other videos with TM-sponsored pros. He is clearly a good presenter and knows a lot about the game, but TM requiring him to force so many awkward questions to like 7 out of the 10 best golfers on the planet every few videos is cringey as hell. The best videos TM posts are the ones where the pros just talk to each other or explain their perspective on a shot, not the ones where they talk about how good the SIM Max is.

@@A_Balanced_Breakfast Fair enough and a well made point. I agree that some of the questions are cringe/ awkward and push the brand in an unnatural way, but I guess I've just overlooked those as a sacrifice for the other content that is pretty quality.

This is crazy, It still comes down to - you are going to make or not make some putts. You can do all the drills and use all the tools or aids you want, you are never going to make every putt. Once I practice a little bit just getting the feel of the greens, not trying to make every putt, I then apply that to playing the course. Not all greens on the course will be the same, some may be different speeds, etc. I am a good putter to begin with, I just try my best. If they go in, great, if not, go on to the next hole.

Even a tour pro usually won't from this distance, every one peeked at the hole and every one had good enough speed for a guaranteed make on the next putt. Over the course of a round if he had 18 birdie putts this length he would have ran a few in and had no stress 2 putting every other one. Sounds like a 66-69 for me and after a few days straight a 6 figure + pay check. Learn about some golf.

That doesn’t matter it’s all percentages and he didn’t happen to make one. It seemed to be a breaking 20 footer which he probably expects to make 10-15% of the time. All that matters is that he’s putting a good roll on the ball If the putt was 5ft closer he would’ve made more

2-Putting is 80-90% speed. Even with a bad read or missing your line, you're going to have a short putt left if your speed is good. Bad speed leaves your with those 3-ish footers that no one likes.

Every Taylor Made video is a sales pitch disguised as a tutorial. “Ok Harry, let’s see you sink this put with the new spider ez3000wamo that ONLY cost $400”. Can’t make golf too affordable, wouldn’t want any lower middle class people at your country clubs.
