    Hiya Penny and Del - great video! Once again your fabrication skills are on display and once again you've come through. Really impressive work, that, especially considering it was done on a machine not designed for that purpose... but as they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat! Great result - looking forward to the next one! Take care, dear friends. Be wall, ride safe, and I hope you had a great weekend!

    Why not use Aluminium ? Seems very heavy part

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    Don't have the equipment to weld aluminium, and as ive already said, it would have had two big clocks on there and a cast metal mount.. so this is a fraction of that !

    Nice job! …I remember the pipe fitters where I used to work many years ago used to pack the pipes with dry sand and plugging the ends to prevent flattening or the dreaded “elephants trunk”when bending to complex shapes and when necessary, even heating them to cherry red.

    Yes indeed, that is a great way to make perfect curves on seamless tubing, but this is reasonably average quality seam welded tubing and if you pack them hard then bend, I've had the rupture the welds before as the sand compacts! Thanks for your input buddy.

    Dang that was amazingly good. Your skill at thinking outside the box is awesome.... One day I want to convert a Honda VT1300 Sabre to run the engine, transmission and electrics of a Indian Chief.. But I want to keep the VT1300's tank. I love real tear drop tanks and the VT1300 Sabre's is one of the best I have ever seen, I was wondering how to hide the tab that is like what is on your Harley tank... NOW I KNOW.... Brilliant!

    Love the whiteboard message :) That's some purdy precice bending, considering no mandrel inside. Unless I miss my guess, by the time you split it, it should be close enough to be hand-moldable to perfection. That's a really good solution to making sides to the centerpiece with perfect, built-in radii/radiussessess. I can't wait to see your choice in the finish. enjoy the weekend, D&P

    Great results Del, especially considering that pipe bender was not the tool of choice. As you said once the filler and paint is done it will be perfect. All those bike build TV shows almost never showed the moulding work. In my mind that is every bit as important as the metal fab on a custom build. Really enjoying this project. Thanks Del and Penny. Blessings to you both. ❤👍👍

    Exactly that Rick, every bike you ever saw built in American Chopper, or West Coast Choppers is a three month build by multiple staff and inevitably always outside vendors too.. and it's all compacted into a 60 minute show, 20 minutes of which is commercials, another 20 minutes is repeated sequences as the commercials are so long, 10 minutes is domestic squabling and posturing about nothing ...and maybe 10 minutes bike building at most... !! But i still think Rick Petko is a legend..!
