I have almost the entire bauer power tool line and have loved them all. The grinder is especially nice. The little chainsaw is great for pruning trees that want to smack you in the face while mowing. The hedge trimmer leaves a bit to be desired but it works. I ran the hammer drill in concrete all day and it survived. Use the hex impact daily, and use the 1/2" impact every time I'm working on a car. I even have their little shop blower, which is great.

But if something exist that can get the job done at least semi-efficiently, and not take the investment of a professional in that field, then it is superior to us. We dont all need a snap on screwdriver set to keep a home running... thank you.

if you do not require a folding saw, the Schmidt garden saw from some Canadian dollar stores is good for the price (approx $4). the handle is a covered metal tube so you could easily stick it on a pole for a polesaw. For a folding saw I really like the silky gomboy 210 straight blade.

Morakniv has a basic line that most knives sell for around 30 dollars. And for a quest of a "cheap but great" kit, I believe that, paired with a paracord buckle that houses a scraper and a ferro rod in it, you could make the bracelet oversized and wrap around the whole kit, giving you 10 to 13' of paracord as well. Now me; I'd spring the little bit extra for titancord- that would be a nice touch to it all.

It's a very quick flipper and well made with a nice clip also. I usually carry a Benchmade, Spiderco or similar mass produced knife as EDC. But I'm VERY impressed at the value of these Ganzos. It is stainless steel, sharp as can be, light weight, only about 3/16" thick with a really good handle on it. I will shop for that saw tomorrow and fix it. A good old Buck Folding knife, maybe from Pawn Shop would be good. They were the best lockbacks in my opinion. You can sharpen them down past the temper though.

I would pair it with the Milwaukee folding Hawkbill 48-22-1985 or the Drop point 48-22-1520. Prefer Hawkbills for rope, minor limbing, and general work, as work doesn't slide of end of blade easy and you can baton the point into stuff. The Hawkbill is easy to open with a wrist flick, locks solid, nice feel, though I wish it was easier to close one handed. I haven't tried the Drop point version, but it uses the same body as the Hawkbill, of which I have 2. Price is around $20-30 depending on seller.

I think it's awesome that you're using your experience to teach how to make affordable tools work like a quality tool. Hard to justify the expense for high quality when you only need the tool once a year for a camping trip but it's awesome to know how to make it work well for the times you do. You could make an entire channel doing harbor freight tool improvements!

I appreciate videos like this. Not everyone has the money to drop on name brand gear. Some guys are just starting out. And unfortunately after Covid...... some guys are just starting over. Theres something to be said about finding the best you can afford, not just the best money can buy. I'd also be interested in videos showing affordable tools being customized to be better with a little sweat or ingenuity. Perhaps a nice hardwood handle to replace chinesium plastic? Now a $5 saw becomes something you can replace the blades on forever for $5

Hi Cody, I had one of these cheap saws, not HF but similar. First time I tried to cut with it it bound up terribly. Turns out the teeth weren't set. Set the saw in my vice and set the teeth with a punch and hammer (just peened them over a bit - tappy-tap-tap) cuts like a champ now, lives in the back of the car with a cheap hatchet, tow rope, set of jumper cables and a towel - always have a towel.HHGTTG.
