#glashuetteoriginal #seaq #divingwatch
The first presentation of the sport diver watch #Spezimatic was in 1969. It was a robust timepiece specially designed for divers by Glashütter Uhrenbetrieb. The historic models of this diver’s watch - a special implementation of the legendary Spezimatic - are on display in the German Watch Museum in #Glashütte in Saxony in Germany.
The Glashütte Original SeaQ is a further development of diver’s watch “Made in Germany”. The latter stands for reliable German engineering combined with exceptional watchmaking art. The “Q” in the name SeaQ represents highest quality standard of the Glashütte Original manufactory…
Glashütte Original SeaQ at a glance:
Manufactory movement, automatic winding
Divers watch: waterproof up to 200 meters
Applied indexes
Super-LumiNova on hands and indexes
Blue ceramic inlay
Available with pin buckle or folding clasp
Prices:
SeaQ Steel with synthetic strap blue or rubber strap black: 8.800 EUR (19% VAT) / 9000 USD
SeaQ Steel with stainless-steel-bracelet*: 10.000 EUR (19% VAT) / 10.200 USD
* Stable flat metal bracelet with fine adjustment & folding clasp with pushers
- Security and comfort
- Adjustable in 8 steps

The Glashütte Original SeaQ has a 200 meters waterproof case that complies with German and international norms for divers’ watches. These are the tests after #DIN8306 and #ISO6425 for divers’ watches done with the SeaQ. It is a combination of both tests, a choice of the more demanding criterion…
- Visibility
- Rate performance
- Magnetic resistance
- Shock resistance
- Resistance of attachments
- Resistance at air over- and underpressure
- Mass flow rate of air
- Resistance at water overpressure followed by condensation test
- Salt water resistance
- Rotating bezel - protection against unintentional readjusting
- Security of functional devices
- Temperature cycling
On the case bottom of the SeaQ you can clearly read DIN 8306

PLEASE do also read the description of the video, where you can find detailed technical information about the watch. I do also want to apologize for saying twice the height of the case is 12,5 mm. Of course, the correct height is 12,15 mm. We do have a new editor, she is called Isabella, and she is not yet 100 % familiar with all the technical terms. It is also not a metal strap, but a metal bracelet. The diameter is 39,5 mm and not the dial. She uses the word chronometer for the watch, but please do not confuse this with an official tested Chronometer. The SeaQ is perfectly regulated and tested in-house of course, but the watch is not a German Chronometer. Correcting these little errors would have meant to completely render + upload this 4k video again. That would have been overdoing it. For me the video is ok as it is. Thank you Isabella for the perfect editing! Looking forward reading your comments. If you have questions, please let me know, I am happy to answer them for you…

@@WatchAdvisor Thank you for your reply. FYI, I actually purchased the beautiful 39.5mm blue SeaQ 2 days ago. Then I came across your excellent video. I do have a question, actually. I saw your other brilliant video for the SeaQ Panorama AND the 'Excellent tests' carried out for that particular model. The same tests, as far as I know, are NOT done for the 39.5mm models, but I'm wondering what specific tests the smaller SeaQ models do undergo. BTW, needless to say, I'm loving the watch in the 48 hrs I've had it - workmanship is first rate and a beautiful design AND perfect size (for me). Incidentally, to me a clear case back is nice to have, yes, but definitely not mandatory. What I care much more about is knowing there is truly a high quality movement inside. And on that note,, I think the stainless steel back case is beautiful too, and perfectly aligned as you state on your video.

Really appreciate the shots in the sunshine as it shows off just how gorgeous the dial is! The main comparison for this is their SeaQ Panorama Date which gives you an extra 100m WR, but is 43.20mm by 15.65mm, whereas this new SeaQ is 39.50mm by 12.15mm, and I think, in particular, how much thinner this SeaQ is would probably make me prefer it over the SeaQ Panorama Date. What a stunner!

  • @WatchAdvisor

The longer I see it the more I love it... 38 mm would be too small for me, these 39,5 mm hit the nail. The watch fits absolutely perfect on the wrist. Even though my favorite strap is the synthetic, the SeaQ feels also perfect with the bracelet. That fine adjustment is state of the art and the quality of that bracelet top notch. The SeaQ is a watch that you buy for you, there is no show off component in it and this is what I like the most... Pure understatement!

Thanks for the complete review, lume shot, dismantling the bracelet, even a water shot. 8800 EUR on a strap and buying the bracelet separately seems to be the most economic option. I wonder why it is not advertised as a lacquered dial. Are the markers actually applied like the panorama date? It seems to be different, where the panorama date used actual steel number outlay for the luminova, this seems to have a white (plastic?) outlay

I love it; simply love this evolution. The detail and honesty of your review is very much appreciated! Are the indices applied on this version? Not sure that you mentioned that, but if so, that is an amazing addition to the previous generation! What is there not to love?? I have a Senator Panorama Date with an exhibition caseback showing off the caliber 100-03, that I adore. The caliber 39 is about 5mm smaller than the 100, and despite its beauty would not fill the SeaQ case to nearly the same extent. Having said that, the incredibly detailed execution of the solid caseback on this SeaQ is quite beautiful and satisifying in its own right. The total, thoughtful execution of this piece is nearly perfect in my estimation. Thank you so much for bringing this all to life for me.

  • @jumboJetPilot

    @jumboJetPilot

    3 жыл бұрын

WatchAdvisor a green dial would make it a Hulk copy? Sorry, but I disagree with that. The fact is, the blue dial craze is also a copy of things before it and even thirty years ago UN staked its claim but saying “blue is our corporate color”. UN was bold by making blue dials in a very black, white, and silver dial world back then. Omega, Rolex, Blancpain, and a slew of others have since made their blue dial dive watches as well. Does that make them all copies of the Maxi Marine? I don’t think it’s a factor of anyone copying anyone so long as the pieces themselves are unique. And GO makes some very unique pieces and dials. Take a look at their new PanoMaticLunar with green dial. There are other green dialed watches out there, but that one is extremely unique. I don’t think GO is going to be accused of copying someone else with it. As for burgundy dials, this is something I’ve wanted to see for a long time now. The JLC Reverso rouge is beautiful, as is the new IWC Portugieser eight day burgundy dial, Portugieser chronograph burgundy dial, HM&C Pioneer Mad Red, etc. Blue has had its hayday. Green continues to gain in popularity. It’s time for red to get some attention as well!

Since I dont't plan on collecting and rotating watches but really would like to wear it as my only watch it has to be robust enough to fullfill that job and accompany me for many more years to come. The SeaQ will definitely "digest" everything as you expect it to do... This is a solid, high-quality wristwatch. Only the protection against magnetic fields is not at the level of Omega. The watch is tested as DIN 8309 requests. If you are not exposed to strong magnetic fields in anything you do, you will be fine. But still it is necessary to be cautious when it comes to magnets and the more and more appearing strong magnetic fields in daily life also at home. But this is something that applies for almost all mechanical wristwatches...

Almost a perfect watch. The center links should be brushed because it is a tool watch. The bracelet should also taper for comfort. Two things the Submariner have over this watch.

You can't compare a Rolex Submariner to a Glashütte Original SeaQ... two totally different segments ... it is like comparing apples and pears... Sorry!

how is Glashuette ranked among other German's watch Brands? (Nomos, Lange, etc?)

  • @WatchAdvisor

Number two after A. Lange & Söhne... but thereafter there is a HUGE gap to Nomos... Glashütte Original can be compared to Blancpain, Jaeger-LeCoultre...

This watch makes you dream of the beauty of movement, isn't that the essence of" Haute Horlogerie"? In a few years the German watchmaker will "eat" the Swiss watchmaker! Patek, Vacheron, look at the train coming in at hight speed! thanks Alexander.kind regards.

Some of the Swiss elite manufacturers due to the hype around them got lazy recently... A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original and also Nomos in its segment are the new pacemakers... 😉

I once saw a 1970s Glashütte spezimatic at a dealer here in the UK. On the casebook it said "Ehrengeschenk des ZK der SED" I don't know what "ZK" or "SED" means, but I'm guessing it was handed out as a gift by some Communists to their Kumpels? On the whole, I think Glashütte Original have now recovered from the embarrassment of the nationalised Ossi-Käse era in their history! :-D

The 48 hours today are no longer the standard, of course... See it that way: Wear the watch all the time - this can be done - and you never have to wind it anyway... Or simply enjoy this moment with the SeaQ, as I describe not in the video .... 😜

Too bad that there are not more authorized dealers that sell Glashutte watches. The nearest one to me in Florida, USA is a 500 mile round trip. I would have to see this watch in person before I would purchase it. Very disapointing
