Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Watch … from Germany? | Watchfinder & Co.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The seventies was a decade of catastrophic disaster. The oxygen tanks on board Apollo 13 ruptured, almost stranding the crew in space; the Unit 2 reactor of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant partially melted down; and the entire Swiss watch industry was destroyed by new technology coming out of Japan. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom, because as far as watches are concerned at least, it was also the beginning of a new era in many respects, a story captured by the Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date.

I am sure you can find good blog posts on it. I remember reading one years back.
There are too many chronographs to covet, and darn it if you haven’t widened the spread. What an incredible specimen.
I always love these wonderful videos. As a watch enthusiast for 50 years, they are not only educational and inspiring, they provide a safe and calm harbor from a world seemingly gone mad!
The GO Seventies with blue dials are gorgeous
Love GO (Panomatic Date Lunar, SeaQ, these!) and love the effort that goes into the research. More on the history and context of watches please! Explains so much about their style and meaning
Come for the watch, end with a history lesson.

Finally more Glashutte Original! Brilliant!!!
Although not everyone seems to appreciate the presentation style, I love that this channel understands the power of story. Long after the specs of a watch are forgotten, it is the story that endures and inspires. Even when I'm not interested in a given watch being reviewed, the great narrative draws me in and I learn something in the process about a piece that would have never gotten my attention. Well done.
Timeless beautiful piece with high grade profile and historical background. Nice review as always. 👍
Loved the story and the fresh take on watch history presentation. Stellar work!
Love your channel and works. Just perfect to me. Learning the knowledge of not just watches but also history. Thank you.
Another brilliant video. Thank you!
Surprised to see the small defect in the power reserve window
Love Glashutte Original but the finishing looked rough especially on the date font and power display? Anyone else notice? 5.57 top right power display

Same, the macro shots on the movement also showed quite a bit of unevenness. Still better than the average Rolex and nearly on par with the overrated PP 70s budget model that shall not be named. A Grand Seiko quality controller would gently recommend seppuku though.

I find a speck in front of “5” at 8:47 as well. East German quality, I guess. In East Asia, this would be considered unacceptable for a $500 watch let alone two more digits added to it.

@@machikr Maybe citizen wouldn't...but Seiko totally would. I'm gonna give GO the benefit of the doubt here, this may well be something Watchfinder's watchmaker did.
It's a good day when Watchfinder releases a new video. It's so clean. The printing is crisp. The dial, cut so finely, and the underside of the seconds hand, so well finished you could flip it upside down and it'd still look gorgeous.
It looks weird and cool at the same time

If someone said “describe a 70’s watch”, I’d say this....
Always loved this piece. Underrated. Probably better as a chrono at 40mm too.
Always a treat to view your videos
I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. I love the history.
Come back in another 40-50 years and this will probably still be stylish. Timeless...
Always a great video, thanks.
Another amazing, interesting history lesson!
Beautiful watch! Nice macro shot!
Love your well studied and professional , historical articulate programs
Oh, what's this? I asked for this AND got it? My 2021 is complete. Thank you Watchfinder!
Oh man, its the exact GO model i wanted last year. Decided to get the Omega SMP300(which i love) but now this GO is haunting me 😭

I am facing a similar choice. But have decided on a GO. I am choosing to own a unique timepiece that stands out from the crowd. I’m not motivated by return on investment. It’s based on my emotional response to this watch. Will enjoy and appreciate for years to come. Thanks to WF&Co for the excellent review.

@Fabian Strasser I have an omega and two GO but truth is the difference in quality is like day and night between those two and I own the 007 milanese bracelet SP which is on the more expensive side of the omega spectrum and still can't compare to GO beauty
I love the classy presentations on this channel. Any chance of upgrading the uploads to 4K? What better way to show off all the intricate details of these timeless wristwatches!
Erase and rewind...this particular watch deserve much more! Even the no Chrono version is a fantastic watch!
Thank you for another really interesting video. Could watch these all day long !
You do such an outstanding job with you video
How about reviewing a Zenith Doublematic? I have always wondered how they can put so many complications in one device.
Another amazing piece of work from Watchfinder
I love a nice "TV"-shaped case from the 70s like the Omega Seamaster 176.005. I think I underestimated Glashütte's 70s models! Thanks for making me aware!
Very interesting video. It's made me respect Glasutte even more when you consider what they went through in their past.
I think this is one of the nicest rotor weights I have seen.
That watch has one hell of a calibre. Big date display, fly back chrono with column wheel, power reserve indicator. Glashutte Original just dropped their prices. Worth looking into although not a whole lot of jewelry stores carry them.
Thank you so much for continuing to raise the bar on watchmaking history. Every single other watch focused KZread channel pales in comparison (which I feel terrible saying, as there are some good channels out there - not throwing any shade out there, but goodness this is Harvard level content.)
Excellent video
Great video and commentary as usual ! Many thanks ! I tried the GO in Geneva but felt the pushers had a bad actuation feeling for a high end column wheel movement. Have a feature request though. A beautiful ugly little duck from Omega: the Constellation Manhattan Hybrid chronograph ref. 1542.40 from the late nineties. A sleek little mecaquartz chronograph powered by a little known but high end and well decorated movement, the Piguet/Omega 1270, which allows for a thin and perfectly proportioned case and an equaly impressive dial layout. At about 2k in NOS condition, it's maybe the best kept secret in the highly popular integrated bracelet market.
They do a lovely blue dial version too. Very attractive watch to my eyes and a desirable alternative to the usual manufacturers.
What a stunning watch...added to the 2021 wish list for sure.
Another great review, Watchfinder, thank you. If an individual is even the least bit interested in fine watches, viewing Watchfinder is almost mandatory.
There are some rectangular watches that look so amazing, like JLC Reverso and this one. But I only choose to like circular dial watches, on principle.
Having been a GP for some 30+ years, for me a watch is essential, if only to check a pulse rate (although chronographs are quite useful to record timing intervals eg when administering IV drugs, such as Morphine to patients with acute pain - allows me to keep track of how long since last dose given) I had a very basic black strap Swatch as a junior doc, but I was quite pleased when one of my patients spotted my current favourite [1] Aquatico Blue Angel watch last week. He’s a fan of mechanical movements so the Seiko NH35 scored high. I have a few patients with Rolex...... but somehow several haven’t even sized the strap so it sits loosely! And one with a Omega 300 wave dial. My favourite. [1] Other ones which get wrist time, Aquatico Bronze SeaStar with green dial and bezel, Citizen Promaster BN0150-28E (half price, mint condition from Amazon) and a trio of Casio Duro......black, blue and gold. So, nothing expensive at all, but if i could, I’d get an Omega Seamaster 300 first.
the watch was showed on the wrist for literally 4 seconds....
okay. I need to know how you did the power reserve shot! lol. Was it a timelapse of it going down and you just played it in reverse? or did you some how wind it super smoothly and filmed it going up?? NEED TO KNOW!! :P

There is a great video on You-Tube produced by G-O on the brand, the watchmakers and the artistry, nearly an hour long.
Seventies chrono with blue sunburst dial with bracelet or Senator chrono with Matt black dial and full blue lume on traditional round case. So many choices.
The world needs more positive, inspiring messages like this. The effort and history underlying the elegant design make this watch just that much more meaningful.
those macro shots are exquisite!
Always loved their 70’s line of watches. Too bad about the defects in the date window and power reserve window. Surprised and disappointed to see such bad quality control at Glashütte.
Please give review on Seiko SPB165J1..🙏🙏.. and suggest me best seiko presage watch please.
I find the aesthetics of this watch really impressive. Such a wonderful model. I tried one on at the boutique and I found it too thick. I don't know if you had this impression too. Otherwise, brilliant watch and brilliant video
1:21 the synchronization of the second hand hitting 0/12 and the minute hand hitting 0/30 is one of the most gratifying things I've seen on KZread.
I love this original seventies in green with the calf skin strap. One of the most beautiful watches ever made !
This watch is insanely beautiful!
Thanks for your video.I just love to listen you.You are an amazing story teller.Someday make a video on Titan watches....how it become one of biggest watch manufacturers.
I'm not one fot square watches(I find the Heuer Monaco ugly as sin) bar an integrated bracelet from Rado, but this slightly toolish 70's design is a bit of a stunner! Very complete too.
this watch shape is amazing
Really an interesting and amazing watch
Never knew this watch before, but DAMN that thing has a character! A maverick piece.
Have you ever considered doing a video on the old omega railmasters? Especially the chronographs?

I'm new to the watch world (credit due almost exclusively to this channel occupying my shut-down time), and my first proper watch arrived right before the New Year. A mid-70s Speedmaster TV Dial. I love these wacky squared-off designs and would love to see even more featured here. Especially my Speedmaster, so I actually know what I'm wearing and enjoying so immensely :)
My Glashütte watch from the 1970s outperforms my Omega, Longines, Seikos and others clearly. Super accurate.
would be nice if you showed us a better glimpse of the bracelet, something to think about for future videos :)

Fantastic watch. Would be very exciting if you check the SeaQ Panoramadatum. Maybe the best dive watch out there right now!

The closeup on the panodate was really eye-opening. Both the printing on the date discs and the aperture are horribly executed.

Please make a Video about Sinn Diving / Tool Watches!
I personally dislike categorizing watches by comparing them to overhyped models like every watch with an integrated bracelet is "a royal oak / nautilus from manufacturer x/y. I know it is just for the title but it seems as if they are the pinnacle of this certain design and every competitor is merely trying to reach it and it feels a little disrespectful to the manufacturer, i dont think Glashütte would have called this watch the german royal oak
