The green SeaQ is incredible. Perfect alternative to the mainstream diver's. And it is one of the exotic ones, which are "REAL" Divers :-) It fits and wears so comfortable. I like it very much ! Good review btw. ;-) as always....

Wonderfully detailed review, thank you. I love when people say 40 hrs is too little, yet love their Rolex which unless brand new has a 40 hr power reserve as well. If you aren’t wearing daily and don’t want to set it, get a winder. And finally get to see the wonderfully finished movement (in the gold at least, hopefully that moves to the rest of the 39.5 mm line).

I am very excited that the thinner profile SeaQ will start to receive a see through case back (I believe the steel models are close behind). GO has magnificent craftsmanship and I love seeing them displayed when you turn the watch over. I know Alexander that this is a tough and personal question for each person-but for you do you think the haptics on the SeaQ bezel action is better or similar to a submariner? If you have a different diver you think wins overall best haptics-which is for you? Thank you for showcasing such interesting watches!

Quick question for those of you interested : Is the Rose gold sea q with an exhibition case back for viewing purposes only - or (is it a cost saving measure to GO) because a solid (18kt rose gold) case back would clearly be more expensive than fitting in a sapphire crystal in it. Much less gold . So now its a great feature to see the movement. If it is such a great feature, why would the stainless 39.5 mm case not have the exhibition case back? -Because it would be more expensive to machine the solid stainless casebook and fit a crystal. So you would think - if it is not about money (WHICH I THINK IT IS) then, why would the buyers of the 39.5 18kt Rosegold NOT have their watches fitted with that little peripheral rotor weight made out of gold, instead of that chunk of stainless or tungsten or what ever. JUST an observation . and BTW I have full intention of purchasing the 39.5 Blue dial with the Diamond bezel/Blue sapphire (12 o'clock stone).

Interesting thought experiment, thanks for sharing! You will never be able to please everyone in that case. Regardless of any argument about technology and/or money, everyone will prefer a different option. That's why manufacturers should always offer such watches with a closed case-back too.

Interesting. That begs the question on the stainless. If they are finishing the movement in the stainless the same as in the red, is the crystal really any more money than the stainless back? Personally, I think they should have all been see through case backs from the get go.

  • @WatchAdvisor

It is a question of movement design… this is quite an old calibre and it was one was conceived not to have an instantaneous date change… you have to built up (waste) energy with a snail and release it exactly at midnight… maybe the barrel simply doesn’t deliver enough energy…. Quality of mainsprings meanwhile has improved dramatically … so such exercises are easier to do …

I thought about waiting for the black dial with white marker version but did not want to risk missing out on this style and the blue. So purchased the blue. After owning a GMT Master 2 and Oyster Perpetual Datejust I must say the finishing on the blue is on another higher level. The dial is visually interesting and vibrant. The blue has a personality that expresses itself in different lighting. In most lighting - indoors mostly - the blue looks more black than blue. On a time graph it keeps better time than the GMT Master 2 which is +/- 2 seconds/day. Best part is that this watch is super high quality and no one knows what it is until they look up close. I also like that the minute marks on the bezel allow me to tell time down to the second as accurately and almost as quickly as on a digital watch. This watch in it's different varieties will steal market share from Rolex and become very popular among the wealthy market segment.

@@WatchAdvisor That’s not my point. The point I am making is that the increased price of a watch in gold over a watch in steel is far and away more than the increased cost of the material & tooling, plus profit on top. It’s all marketing. The watch is PRICED at what the manufacturer thinks the market will stand, so economising by saving gold on the case back increases their margin; just as Tudor have done with the gold BB58
