In this video, I install a new Haloview wireless RV backup camera model MC7108.
The Haloview is replacing my previous Tadibrothers camera. The reason for the change is hopefully a better display resolution and color and the ability to record video with the Haloview's DVR feature.
Disclaimer: A sample of the MC7108 backup camera kit was provided to me free of charge for the review. www.haloview.com?acc=413
After I've used the camera system for a few weeks and over a thousand miles of traveling, I'll be back with a full review.

Ray, I have a similar set up in my 5er. For less than $15 I was able to purchase a device to mount my 7" monitor on the rear view mirror mount on the windshield. When not towing, the OEM mirror replaces the monitor. I hid the monitor power cord behind the trim molding. It works very well.

Well Haloview MC7101 is less cost than MC7108, so MC7108 performs better on image reslution and transmission distance. But I think there should not be signal issue for MC7101, please check the installaion position and antenna direction. You can also use Haloview Antenna Extension to solve the signal and position issue. Thank you!

VERY IMPORTANT TIP. After you have installed the camera up on the RV, you must plug in your vehicle to the camper with your 7 pin cord, and then turn your actually headlights on in the vehicle....NOT daytime running lights because that won't turn on your RV marker lights. That's how the Furrion pre-installed plug gets its power, thru the red marker lights. I know....we just went thru this when installing our nice Haloview MC5111 on our brand new travel trailer with a Furrion preinstalled plug/black fin. :)

I mounted mine just below the center running light then ran the wire through a tight fitting hole, wired it to that running light. That way all I do is turn on the running lights and have a monitor. Done it this way on the last three units we’ve had.

I had a wirelss system on my previously owned TT, the problem was that it was susceptible to interference... for instance I would be driving through a town past stores perhaps, and my image would flip from the rear view to inside a nearby hair salon's wireless camera's image for instance. That was worst case, however on the highway the signal would drop in and out or pick up other video signals or interference. In my class C I have a hard wired two camera system and it is far superior. I do like the idea of a built in recorder though, something I dont have. It will be interesting to see how your new system performs on the road. Downunda - Melbourne Australia

Here in Europe that truck and fifth wheel would be a massive rig indeed. I would fear joining what I think in North America you call interstate highways with such a big rig. It's the merging with the fast traffic which makes me nervous. I think a camera like that would be a big help perhaps as I could then see how far behind the cars I'm merging with are.

Hi Ray. I have a suggestion to make the antenna on the screen less visually distracting. By installing a 90° male/female adapter, it could then be pointed downwards at an angle. Since the company claims 984 feet line of sight, hopefully the image will remain visible even with the drop in signal strength when the antenna is hidden behind the screen.

I know that you have only had it a few days, but if you were starting from scratch with what you know now would you spend the extra on a 7108 or go back to a 7101? Love the video's BTW. You pretty much have me sold on a Haloview, but not quite decided on which one. I'm thinking the video quality on the 7108 seems much nicer, so I'm swaying that way, and thinking of possibly adding a second camera as a Dash Cam so that all recording would be on the one card. I wish I'd found the Haloview before I spent $400 on a Rear View Safety System brand that's nearly identical to what you have. I had my camera professionally installed but the signal was intermittent and it didn't work more times than it did work. Technical Support told me the problem was because "there's too much aluminum" between the rear of my 12' trailer & my pickup cab. I finally had to get a Manager on the phone, got the same answer but he sort of blanked when I reminded him the system is for big rigs which are all aluminum. He sent me a new magnetic mount antenna for my truck roof and it's supposed to have an amplified signal so when I take my trailer out of storage in a few weeks I'll find out if it works. Does the Tadi camera use a 2.4ghz wireless camera as well? If so have you tried pairing it to another channel on your new system?

How did you attach the monitor to the beanbag?

I removed the hardware the bean bag and cut the Haloview plastic mount to fit then peeled off the 3M tape film and stuck it on. Seem to be holding, I may add some tiny screws too. Cheers, Ray

Lots of stuff on the dash. Some stage you will get a ticket for having all that stuff on your dash. But I'm sure you checked out the legalities of blocking your view. Already made it down south Ray. Almost had to get a new truck also. Did have to spend $6,500 for a Dodge transmission.

I think for the most part its common sense if it's blocking the view they may ticket. Suction cup mounts on the windshield seemed to be frowned on. I'll trade the ticket for the extra safety of seeing what's behind me. Sorry to hear about the tranny, that's quite the bill. All the best, Ray

Love Your RV we hope to run into you somewhere down here in Yuma area. We have rented a lot in town. Let me know when you are in town. Don't know if you remember or not but we copied a lot of your electrical system on our trailer. Would like to just chat and say hello. I know in South Dakota you cannot have anything even hanging from your mirror. I had friends pull in with some object hanging from their mirror and got a ticket which put them in jail. Because of other offenses. They missed the whole week of Sturgis. Although us old people can get away with that. All we got to do is act stupid it works for me all the time. See you soon. Gary

The manual indicates it can record in QUAD or SPLIT modes, says press OK button to start or pause recording.

Is that a back up camera or an observation camera? 984ft is only 11 mph. So if you are traveling 70 mph I think it might not work. I may be wrong. It will be interesting to see you results.

984 feet is the transmission distance when barrier free, not the speed. Thanks.

It can be used as both. I find the killer application for me is as a rearview observation cameraI traveled yesterday and hit speeds of 60 MPH and the camera worked well. A slight bit of stutter when looking at the lines on the road but to be expected for a wireless signal. Overall I really liked it. It's great to clearly see vehicles in my blindspot behind the trailer. The 984 feet is the max distance between the camera and display when mounting with no obstructions between them. Cheers, Ray

Good video, as always. I had gotten a wireless camera from the Hersey RV show this year, but didnt like the resolution. Plus it was over $300. They were nice enough to except a return. Anyhow. after getting a checking it out (with a 12v battery.... because I dont have my 5th wheel yet) wasn't thrilled and then found a video from Mortons on the Move (kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIl9qY9sYbipdrg.html) video on a DIY backup camera and its 1/6 the price at the same resolution and can be a DVR (my version). I do like the resolution of yours, which is better than my DIY. Please keep us informed of what you think. I would also like to install side cameras too... lol cant do that to easy with the DIY kit. Cheers

Funny that they felt it necessary to report the range in feet. 984 feet is 300 meters.

@@debra-vs - Yep, I live in Boise, Idaho. I just thought it humorous that a Chinese company would tailor their specs to the US versus the rest of the world. Perhaps they think it makes it look more "American".

If I was shopping in the same price range I'd seriously look at one. But to be honest we haven't gone RV shopping for many years now so don't really know what's out there and how the Cougars are now. Here is a review I did a while back after 6 years of fulltime living it ours - www.loveyourrv.com/cougar-trailer-review-fulltime-rving/
