Haloview MC7108 RV/Trailer Backup Camera Install (older install, see description for updated info)

NOTE: The newer cameras come with a plate to attach the camera directly to the Furrion camera mount on the trailer. Easier than the method that I used in the video.

    Great practical advice. Your video may be the only one on the Halo View in which you seem to have actually purchased the camera. Everyone else is saying, “Hey y’all... Very good install video. I am a home inspector. I see a lot of electricians that don't install drip legs. When the boat in your garage is in view on the screen, the image is reversed. (the registration numbers are backwards) I have never used a back up camera. Is that done so the cars on the right appear on the right and cars on the left appear on the left of the screen?

    I appreciate the comment, especially from someone technical. I like messing with computers, network wiring, etc so I've watched a lot of wiring videos and figured the drip loop (leg, I'll have to remember that term) was a good idea since water loves destroying trailers. Yes, the video is mirrored on the monitor so it's the same view as the vehicle's rearview camera. It makes more sense when you're driving down the road and there's cars in other lanes behind you.

  • @MikeJordanUnCamplicated

    @MikeJordanUnCamplicated

    @@aguyandhiscomputer ahhhhh... yes makes sense, a mirror is reversed too. You had it right. It is a drip loop for wiring. I miss-spoke or maybe miss-typed. The drip "leg" terminology I typed is actually used in reference to a "dead end" leg where a natural gas line connects to the appliance to let rust fall out of the gas stream.

  • @aguyandhiscomputer

    @@MikeJordanUnCamplicated Ok. That's interesting about the rust drainage port. Maybe I'll watch some electrical and HVAC videos tonight since I'm drained from the election stuff 🙂 Haloview also makes a camera monitor that slips over the truck's rearview mirror. Great video I have the same exact trailer except mine is the flagstaff micro lite version. Do you notice any dropouts when driving? Haloviews website says the wireless is recommended for distances shorter than 33’. My setup is a bit longer from the camera to the monitor, and they recommend the rd7. With that, you have to run the cable across the roof for the extender which I really don’t want to do. Only other option I can think of is to run it down the back wall and underneath, but that would be hard fishing it through the foam insulation. I’m wondering if the connection is stable at highway speeds?

    1. I have used mine with a few crew cab trucks. Yes, there is some video lag from time to time but not enough for me to worry about considering the price. If you want a perfect video feed, get the RD7. 2. Personally, I would buy the separate 16' cable and go up and over the back wall. Put the booster near the A/C cover or under the TV antenna. That way it doesn't get hit with the cover that I use while in storage. 3. If you're on Facebook, I'm in a very good Mini Lite / Micro Lite group. facebook.com/groups/1901493023470645 4. adamcampingdocs.com/backup-surveillance-cameras/ I have links to everything I mentioned.
