@@TheIsleMercenariesReal Since Houndeyes starve from hunger in HL2 beta, they probably died out of hunger. They also probably died out from Antlion infestation, and Combine Units hunting them down.

The Houndeyes and Bullsquids were in HL2 Beta, Houndeye would be thin because no food, the Bullsquid would turn red for unknown reasons, and an Aquatic bullsquid would exist too, the Aquatic Bullsquid would be in Canals and act as a crocodile maybe

Fun fact: Houndeyes in Half Life we’re initially supposed to be friendly creatures. But during the first player testing phases, players wouldn’t let them live long enough to see their friendly personality.

As a kid I was scared by the Houndeyes because they looked like dogs with some of their body chopped off

Houndeyes were modeled as much more skinny for HL2 but deleted. Tells me they're still around in certain biomes. Might not live in the black sea region.

Houndeyes are more akin to sheep rather than dogs, except for their sounds. They don't seem to have any sense of smell, and rely on their sight mostly (their "eye" is basically an enlarged housefly eye). It is also interesting how quickly they adapted to Earth and human flesh as food. On Xen, they don't seem to have any viable option for food, as most creatures are bigger and stronger than them (though they could outrun all of them). Even those which arrived to Earth eventually died out, as they could be easily killed by common household tools.

Why on Xen they could kill headcrabs easily, even solo. In packs, they deal enough damage to kill Vortiguants and even Bullsquids. And perhaps there's other smaller critters which are non-enemies in Xen.

headcrabs are cute too. they just want to hug you.

I love the thought that some other resistance cell could have a pet Houndeye instead of a pet headcrab like kleiner has. their behaviour suggest they could potentially be domesticated like dogs

Gargantuas weren't that initiative and unique monsters, apart from the flamethrower-arms. Their whole appearance just suggests that they're Xenomorph rip-offs with a huge inflated head. Headcrabs are also very similar to facehuggers from the _Alien_ saga.

At the highest level of the Lambda Reactor, the scientist tells you that "quite a few handsome specimens" were collected from Xen, but does not specify which ones. Since you can find headcrabs and a bullsquid in Lambda core at the weapons research area, it's somewhat safe to assume that either headcrabs or bullsquids were brought to Earth first, and the rest of them got teleported when Freeman caused the portal to open wide.

Well they wouldn't work with GMod which is how I capture the footage, and so I wouldn't be able to capture the camera angles I do but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
