Also while heaving leader their damage and range of attack are increased for each houndeye in group (you can tell if attack is buffed by the visual color of it, plus the visual effect will cover more distance) Killing the leader, disbands the group, disabling all bonuses, while killing members decreases their buffs

there was no leader keeping watch in Black Mesa, thats why they were so easy to massacre 👺

Valve made them a pet in the half life beta but the play tester kill them so it was cut

Hey; that clip about 1/3 of the way in, where it says "A houndeye is typically docile and will avoid danger" was a model that was made by me. That's my Houndeye model that I remade for Raising The Bar Redux and I have a video showing it off fully on my Channel. Crazy seeing it in a video.

The Houndeye is known to feed upon Blood. Both Xenian and Earthly unlike the potentially related Bullsquid which chooses too feed exclusively upon Earthly blood

correct. i wasn't reffering to the Bullsquids habits of eating the actual animals of Xen. when eating exclusively the blood the Bullsquid eats only Earthly blood.

Hound eyes are pretty tame and sometimes they’ll cuddle around a person’s leg. Also they don’t mean to harm people they just can’t help the shock wave that they produce and they’re very playful for the most part especially towards humans. To simply put it imagine a regular house hold dog that could produce shock waves

Another fact is that the beam color changes based on how many houndeyes are in that group. Another fact is that their cute.

I've been playing Half Life games for all my life and until this video I just now noticed that the Houndeye has one back leg.

Fun fact: it's playtesters fault Houndeyes are hostile.

The lil cuties when in packs they all will fall asleep while the leader keeps watch for nearby enemies.

Another fact was they were going to appear in half life 2 along with the bull squid with a slight appearance change. In half life 2 they were gonna be slightly more skinny and have orange stripes instead of blue, along with being slightly more aggressive due to being more hungry out in the wild. They along with the bullsquids still do exist, there just “somewhere out there” according to the creators.

Thanks for video! these creatures have a leader, like wolfs. They also have special animation for nap, but during napping of pack, leader stay awake and observe the area, standing on his third leg.

The damage of a Houndeye's shockwave is directly proportional to how many pack members are present, which can be guaged by the colour of the resulting shockwave. The more pack members there are, the more vibrant the colour of the shockwave, the more devestating the damage.

@@CDS_oficialBR they do appear in half life 2, just than they dont know where the houndeyes are, they are somewhere on earth with bullsquids (said the creators of valve) there are still a population of houndeyes living on half life 2, so yes, you could have seen a houndeye but the devs decided for SOME reason to not show them in gameplay nor easter eggs.
