I think the point Gaga was trying to make is that's the moment of realization, when you know how much you need someone, and it literally feels like a punch to the stomach, taking your breath away. I sort of wish she'd taken a deep gasp, taken a slightly longer moment, held the audience, and then blown everyone away with that last "I love you". Still a great performance, regardless

This is my favourite American Idol performance of all time. I’m not even exaggerating. It left such a huge impact on me. I was 10 when I watched this and I’m still here 10 years later at 20.

THIS! I’m 21 now and was 10 during this season but still come back to KZread to watch her performance of Bennie and the Jets every few months. Every single cover she did on the show was the best cover of each song I have ever heard. I’m from Scotty McCreerys hometown and I was still absolutely PISSED that he won that year. I watched 1 more season and stopped because I was so salty about this loss. I started watching again this season and yet another mediocre country guy won over some real raw talent so I’m salty again lol

Far and away the best American Idol Contestant Ever. I am in retrospect glad she didn't win as she is a Superstar in her own right.

To this day ... I don't understand why SHE didn't win.... stopped watching the show because she didn't but hope she's doing o.k. wherever and whatever she's doing... best American Idol audition EVER!

Lady Gaga gave Haley the perfect advice on bringing drama. Haley slayed that song so hard. It could not have been better in any way. Those country wannabe teens had nothing on Haley. I don't know if it was ten year olds voting or what, but she should have won.

What a versatile singer, so much personality and theatrics included, she draws you in........

This is hands down my favorite Idol performance ever.

The differences in the versions I have heard of this song is HUGE, it's almost like in stages of the relationship. Jordan's Version is like "Baby please come back, I love you", Hailey's Version is like "I love you, you have to come back, I need you to come back, I will stalk you until you come back," and Finally Candice's is like "I love you but you know what stay with her because she will never love you like I loved you," All three versions are phenomenal and they are beautifully sung but this is what I heard in each. Watch them again and see if you can hear what I hear.

Haley Reinhart is the only American Idol name I remember and rooted for. Cannot believe she got voted off. Incredible voice, sexy, sultry. The whole package.

No One can touch her!!! This is a girl with a gift that can not be matched!! Others have great voices and can certainly sing but Haley's gift is her own! And there is no comparison! There are people who open their mouths and you know instantly who they are..Streisand, Celine, Cher...and Haley has that same uniqueness and IT FACTOR. Why she is not a mega star is beyond me.

Hearing her vocals in this song, I personally think Haley is one of the few who can perform Chandelier by Sia... very difficult to sing, but she has that rasp in her voice, she can reach low notes, and definitely reach high notes, I would've liked to see her perform the song (: Great Performance.

that's so true. Really, you've hit the nail on the head. So cheap of them. Judges need to leave their ego's outside the door when they enter the building, and just accept that the contestants that are the most talented and need the least 'mentoring' have already earned their ego's as well; why should a contestant's confidence offend them to the degree that they begin to sabotage talent such as hers? These two judges became a 'joke' when they behaved this way.

Save for Steven, the others were super wrong with Haley. They dug their own graves with their first critique with Earth Song, and now they wanted to say that they are hard on her because she is so good. Yeah right. Haley was lit here and I would not even call this particular song her "best vocals ever" like Randy did, but again this is him trying to take credit of her awesome performance. The way she was staring at them like "keep talking" was awesome.

She killed me . I mean it I had goosebumps and tingling in my whole face and head and arms . I listened to her song now like 3 times in row and still getting the same feeling . ++Bored philosopher I never paid much heed to Gaga, her Pop stuff and outrageous dress, etc. until I heard her duets with Tony Bennett. Only then did I realise what a great singer she really is. Maybe not quite as big a range as Haley but superb voice control and quality, and able to play around with melody. Apparently she started off singing jazz, just one of many things I'd never known about Gaga. I've seen her on a few interviews and she came across in those as a very nice, unassuming person.

++scott FabT-Birds79 She's released three albums now. Some of her performances with PMJ, and she's done a number of them, have gone viral, their version of Creep in particular. She also recorded I Can't Help Falling in Love which she recorded for the Extra Gum advert, and it went viral and won a platinum award for the song, and the complete advert with her song playig along with the "narrative" of the advert won a prestigious award for adverts. She toured quite bit with PMJ, but has now had her own headline tour which went as far as Europe at least because I saw her in Scotland. Oh aye, and she also did the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago some years ago. I don't know what all gigs she's done in the States as I'm too far away to keep properly in touch, but it looks as if she's done quite a lot. Anyway, things are happening for Haley even if she's not reached the mega-star status that her talent desrves. And maybe she doesn't even want that, and the restrictions it would inevitably bring.

I'm with you, Lucas. When I heard/saw Haley sing her part in the Post Modern Jukebox video of "It's All About the Bass", I became a fan. Excellent rendition of "Creep", too, also with PMJ. I'd never heard the original version until I stumbled across it last night. WAY different! Definitely not my style of music. Haley and Scott Bradlee's (PMJ founder/pianist) arrangement made it palatable.

Her emoting was superb. As no other American Idol could come close to matching Haley on this song. By far, the best overall performance of this cover ever on this show bar none. All other earlier and later performances pale in comparison.

I kind of love the fact that so often the contestants are in awe of the celebrity mentors and Haley is "gaga and me, we just kind of clicked." So confident and comfortable in her own skin!

This may just be the single greatest American Idol performance of all-time, topping Lambert, Clay, Clarkson, London, Hudson, and Underwood. AMAZING!!! It's too bad she doesn't do more like this now. +Carl Segan Yes we have and is not to shout about! For some strange reason, people generally reckon that all that matters with THIS SONG is power vocals. They all get swept away when someone starts belting it out regardless of how badly the singer misinterpreted the lyrics and failed to give flesh to the emotions of the lyrics effectively - poor musicality. Hence, they are wowed by stereotypical performances by Jordin, Candice, and such. Haley, on the other hand, is like a surgeon wielding a scalpel; she is more accurate and effective in interpreting the lyrics: inward looking self pity at her own lowly state, envy for the other girl, frustration-filled declaration of her love. All these cleverly done with inflections, subtle pantomimes, and poignant push with her unique vocals - and investing it with her own oomph and panache. She gives us goosebumps in all her performances because she sings the words like she lived them. This is what makes this such a singularly outstanding performance.

I didn't watch Idol, but I would have thrown my popcorn at the screen when she didn't win. Like what? The girl who won. Who even knows her name? Reinhart rules. I have seen enough KZread vids to know she should have won by a tonne, but apparently if she did she would have been tied to some Idol contract....man...you gotta put in 10,000 hours (re: Gladwell)...Reinhart looks like she is doing that touring and videoing with PMJ. Yay.

Her season a dude won. Scotty won that season. I didn't care for the dude too much either but he actually has like 2 good songs. He's actually not doing too bad. Better than some of the idol winners. But believe me, I was team Haley since she caught me by the heart with Bennie and Jets :)

After James Durbin was eliminated I stopped watching it. It's a show for teeny boppers who vote for the cutest boy and wouldn't know real talent if it hit them in their fangirl heads.

Holy crap! I remember her!! She was my favorite! So talented! She should've won.. :(

fudge! This is just too freaking amazing. I still love her so freaking much. I literally have listened to this and house of the rising son probably 6000 times over the years. They are both my top favorites performances from anywhere and anyone ever.

I never heard such a great cover of this song - just kinda perfect and absolutely my favorite!!

I was wrong. She really deserves to won better than anyone else in this season. I love Pia very much but Haley is just really amazing & this performance is perfect!
